I was never able to eat a lot of fruit other than apples. It made me feel spacey and jittery. In the beginning of going raw, I still couldn't eat a lot of fruits. Now, however, I eat a lot of them (not as much as most raw foodists, I'm sure, but a lot for me compared to only eating an apple every so often in the past). My body handles it all pretty well now (after a little over nine months 100% r

Hi everyone. I have a question about increasing collagen--I think that's what I need to do, anyway. I've been slowly getting to a healthy weight for my body over the past year and everything was going great until I got around the 70 pounds lost mark. At about that point I started to see that my skin wasn't snapping back as it was in all the previous months (my body just magically responded to the

I love the pictures of the food! Thanks for sharing! :-D The flowers that Berlinpathos is using in the pictures are gorgeous! Where do you live? I've never seen flowers like those before. Love, Gypsy

I have thought about it quite a bit, but financially it's not an easy thing to do. :-P I think if someone can afford to do it, they should go for it! Love, Gypsy

This is just an idea, so it might not even work. When I lived in Virginia there were roaches. I kept my apartment *very* clean and only saw about one roach per year, even though the apartment right next to me (it was a duplex) was infested to the point where the roaches were out during the day and night--on the walls, floors, and ceilings! EEK! Anyway, some of my friends were also keeping th

I'll be listening to as many of them as I possibly can! :-D I signed up last week (can't remember who's link I used to sign up at that time) and I was happy to see you listed as one of the speakers, F1! I'm not overly active here on this forum, but I appreciate your posts and comments when I come across them. The whole program is surely there to make money in the long run, but at least they a

Lotusblossom, I hope you see this. Your message box is full and it won't let me send another reply to you. So, here's my latest reply since I already typed it up. ;-) Lotusblossom, I did the fast for the ten days and I loved it. I was already eating very healthy, so maybe that's why it felt so good to me. I'm not sure. I ended up gaining weight after I went off it, though. That doesn't h

Thanks for sharing your journey. It really isn't any fun to go through detox (personally, the emotional is tougher than the physical, so far, for me), but reading your article was very helpful. Thanks, again. Love, Gypsy

Hi everyone. I have a question about baby coconuts. I've seen on some of the raw food prep shows that the coconut water is in a pitcher. It made me wonder about opening up my case of coconuts when I get them each week, and keeping the water and "meat" in separate containers in the fridge (saving me lots of room!). Is this something that can be done, or will the water/"meat" go

Wow! Congratulations!!! I have the same problem with my family wanting to eat what I pack. I sometimes feel guilty, but I have to insist that they stop eating the fresh stuff or else I'd be left with noting and they'd still have their corn chips, hummus, and stuff like that. I'm going to try always packing extra, because I really love seeing them eat the fresh stuff over the packaged foods. C

Tiffany, You'll find all kinds of motivation for losing weight on the raw diet. For me, I'm doing it for the health (I want to live a long, enjoyable life), but losing weight is really a great bonus. I've lost 68 pounds, so far. They started coming off as I began eating more and more fresh foods. According to the "charts" I'll probably end up losing 30+ more pounds. They have been co

Happy, happy birthday. May all your wishes come true and your life be filled with love and happiness. My heart goes out to you about this whole thing with your family and having a difficult time eating. When I am under stress, my digestion slows right down (and it's already slow) and I feel ill. Perhaps it is your stress about how others are treating you as you go raw that is making you feel i

I have PCOS, as well. I was finally diagnosed with it after having *very* irregular periods since they started when I was 13 years old. I saw an endocrinologist who finally diagnosed me about two years ago. What I have learned from her (she's a specialist in this area), and through other research, is that PCOS actually comes from insulin resistance (IR) (even if you've been tested and the results

For me, I try to figure out what's in the food that I'm craving that I really want. With pizza, it's usually the fat or salt (or both). So, I put some extra fat and salt onto my food and the craving goes away. I don't know if this is good in the long run, but at least it takes the craving away. ;-) I had less cravings (next to none) in the beginning of going raw. Now that I'm almost five month

If you decide to do it, I'll consider doing it with you. I never force myself to follow something if it isn't feeling right for me, however, so I can't guarantee I'd stick with it for the duration. Love, Gypsy

The longer I am raw, the less I have dark circles and the puffiness that you are talking about. I do notice that the dark circles come when I've consumed a lot of raw garlic, or when I've juiced and used a lot of beet. Have you noticed the dark circles coming after you eat certain foods? I'm looking forward to hearing what others say about the dark circles. I have a feeling that food sensitivi

Seth, Yes, the notice was put up in the Federal Register. If you aren't scouring the notices (I haven't read through them in years) and no one else picks up on something like this, the comment period can come and go before anyone has a chance to say anything. That doesn't mean the ruling can't be stopped. With enough complaints and statements that we refuse to purchase their "unharmed&quo

So, would avocados be considered a negative thing to include in the diet of someone who is insulin resistant? I'm just wondering since I eat at least one avocado a day and I'm insulin resistant. Good luck with your study! I'd love to hear the results! Love, Gypsy

I used to have the same reaction when eating cooked eggplant dishes that also included cooked tomato. I'd guess you are experiencing a food sensitivity. Since I've been raw, I rarely have reactions to foods. I hope it clears up quickly for you, Mine usually faded over 24 hours, or less.

I've sent out over 100 emails in the past 24 hours, since hearing about this. I have been emailing with David Phippen <dsphip@msn.com>, chair of the Almond Board. If anyone wants to take him up on his offer of talking about this over the phone, here's his number <209-531-7380>. You can tell him your friend Gypsy shared his number with you. I refuse to talk with him on the phone, becau
