Whole Foods, while pricey does offer a wide assortment of raw foods. At least the ones in the Bay do. Okay, that's it! Happy New Year.

Oh yes...almost forgot a great natural foods store. When you're in Berkeley, you absolutely must visit the Berkeley Bowl. They are supreme with their selection of raw foods, raw food ingredients and produce. They have a new store on 4th which offers a gigantic produce section. I'm talking in the range of 20 selections of each kind of fruit, greens and vegetables. The bulk food section is the

Emily, The SF Bay Area is ripe with a large raw food community and restaurants. Rainbow Grocery on Folsom street has a pretty decent selection of raw foods & a great produce section. They're a veggie grocery, in business since the 1970's. Fun to shop in there. There are a handful of natural grocery stores scattered throughout the city that also carry some raw "transitional&

My eyebrows spontaneously shot straight up in the air when I read the word bleach. I cannot imagine that can be anything but ultra toxic for these little girls. Not only for their skin but their sensitive parts and future reproductive health. OMG! No way. You may need to turn this lady in. Just think of what she's not sharing with you.

I've been using the Oster Classic Beehive Blender for almost 2 years now. If you're considering one, make sure it's the classic beehive model. I love it because it has a glass caraffe and has two speeds which are exceptionally strong & capable of blending almost anything. I use it at least 2-3x per day. It's not a vitamix or blendtec, but in the meantime it serves me well. I forgot to a

Hi Ashlee, try having 1-2 green smoothies a day. One recipe that always gets me moving is... bunch of spinach bunch of kale 1 apple 1 tsp of spirulina (more if you're used to it) 2 tsp of cacao powder 1 chopped medjool date fresh cut ginger root to taste 1/2 or whole cucumber 1/2 or whole avocado (makes it smooth) distilled water (1-2 cups) throw it all in the blender, blend and

He quit smoking. I think he'll age gracefully. We'll probably see him with more white hair though - especially if he gets a 2nd term. Most Presidents begin to age - comes with the territory. Very high stress. Carter had a thing for peanuts Bush Jr had a thing for war and Clinton had a thing for the ladies. Sorry couldn't resist. Here's to Obama's continued great health. From the i

Roadrunner, I just wanted to send you good wishes as you move through this with your kids. I think it's a great idea to be an example and educate them as much as you can regarding their diets and health. But it's sometimes hard for us to remember what it feels like to be a teenager. Did you listen to your parents once you made up your mind about something? I knew eating boxes of ho-ho's, guzz

I don't have any answers, but just wanted to say I'm glad you found what is working for you. I have to steer clear of wheat personally, but perhaps corn tortillas are better than flour if you're going to eat them. I wasn't sure which ones you're using and thought I'd mention it. The Mission brand seems kind of sketchy to me in terms of health. I interviewed with them for an office job a few y

Can you tolerate raw ACV (apple cider vinegar)? Braggs w/mother is raw. Try putting 2 tbs in a glass of water. It may help. Could be you have a low HCL count issue in your stomach. Grapefruitseed extract is also wonderful for stomach problems. 2-15 drops in a glass of water will help. Hope you feel better.

I believe the ideal diet is the one that is working for you right now. My own diet fluctuates often as my body finds it's balance. Last week it was all about sprouts, greens, spirulina, seaweed. This week it's all about fruit & green juices. I have no idea what my ideal diet will be next week. Just listening to the body. ;-)

I wish there was a men's health section. I think we ladies are just respecting that we don't often here talk regarding men's health on the raw food sites and we didn't want to hijack your thread. I like to hear what's going on with you all too. Regarding flavor, have to agree with that and it's not gross, just the truth. I saw a bumper sticker in the bay area last summer that had the &qu

RGH69, I was motivated to begin eating raw foods due to a bodily trauma I sustained. I wanted to be well and raw foods seemed like the right avenue to take. My motivations ran deep and extended beyond the physical. I tasted what it felt like to be completely defeated physically and it's not a good feeling. I was at my worst physically, spiritually and emotionally when I began. I completed a

well then whoever made humans messed up with the blueprint. seems we need fat and our body is comprised of it - especially for women. if we didn't have fat in our bodies we wouldn't menstruate and it would also screw up our hormones. for guys too. fat is toxic? anything in excess could be considered toxic perhaps - is this what the author meant? this is why i listen to my body above and beyond
