So I have been drinking Kava Kava for the past 3 days now. I noticed last night tiny litle red dots on the inside of my lips. They are about the size of pin pricks. They are flat and do not itch or hurt. I was thinking that maybe it could be do to blood vessel constriction and popping. I think the constriction is a side effect but I have not found any info on these little red dots. Has anyone ex

Hi Mel. Welcome to the forum. There's a lot of recipes and good advice here. I found that the people here will be genorous in their advice and will answer most of your questions. The best thing that helped develop a taste for raw was green smoothies. 60% fruit 40% greens. And be on the lookout for new fruits and veggies. It keeps things interesting. I love these new taste adventures. Good Luck!

The apple bananas go by that name I think. As far as what I saw on the internet. The sticker on them says apple. I figured maybe they were mis-labeled until I ate them and did a google search. As for durian- you can find them at most asian markets. They are a pain to open! I scraped myself doing so. I find that I can find packaged frozen durian pods and they don't smell as bad. Before, I had

Actually, I haven't eaten any more bananas I couldn't smell before I purchased them. I figure smelly banans can't be good for me. I've been eating apple bananas lately. They are small bananas that originate from Kenya and Brazil. They taste like a cross between apples and bananas. Crazy!

Lately, I been eating a lot of bananas. About a bunch a day, because they are so convinient. But I notice that the peels are fishy smelling. I shrugged it off because the insides were fine. I thought maybe since the markets sell a lot of fish that maybe the fish workers handled the bananas or it had something to do with the bananas being in plastic bags. The brands are usually bonita, occasionall

Try a 60% fruit to 40% greens ratio. Also, some of those stonger tasting vegetables don't taste as nice in a smoothie. I like spinach, romaine lettuce, basil, and mint.

I'm looking for a raw alternative to energy drinks or shots. I intend to start training for about two hours a day. I used to train capoiera two years ago and I would drink an energy drink or shot before training. It is really energy intense and works out a lot of muscle. I haven't trained in almost two years (due to no money and tiny living space) and really have done little exercise except f

Maybe eating avocados, nuts, and seeds. I believe they are overt fat. Actually, though you might want to seek opinions on how good or bad that would be for you. I know that some people here advocate a low fat diet. Maybe a lot of fat isn't the best thing for your body, but I know about the pressures of trying to stay a certain weight...I model occasionally. You might also want to weight train. Pro

Let me know if you find one. I'll keep my eyes peeled. I haven't seen one in my local markets, but then again, last spring/summer I wasn't looking for them. I'm assuming you're in the city right? I was cruising the chinatown markets last week, but din't really find anything I couldn't find in my neighborhood. I found a jackfruit, but they were selling them in halves only. For $33 bucks! I can't

Thanks guys! Frances, the oxidation and lemon juice thing...Does the lemon juice stop oxidation and/or nutrient loss, or is it more about the apples turning brown? I will start cutting the the food into bigger pieces. Yay, less work for me!

Usually, I wash, peel, and cut my fruits and vegtables at night to bring with me to work in the morning. I'm wondering if all the nutrients have died by the time I am eating them for breakfast and lunch. I don't really want to peel fruits at work. We don't have a kitchen and no way am I going to wash fruits in the bathroom and peel them at my desk. It just seems unsanitary. I am probably

Ooh look what I found! Thieves Oil Recipes Thieves Oil comes from research about four thieves during the 15th-century plague who used cloves, rosemary, and other aromatics to protect themselves while robbing plague victims. How to use: Diffuse for short periods of time (1/2 hour or less) in the work or home environment. Apply to the bottom of the feet or dilute with a Massage Oil Base

I found a mandoline at whole foods for $20. It's got a ceramic blade too, but no legs. It works pretty well. It's the only one I've used, so I can't tell you how it compares with others.

When I was on my juice fast (without a juicer!) I blended pinapple and strained it through two paint filter bags. Maybe a nut milk bag would work too. Just squeeze it and viola! Extra work I know, but heavenly!

I already shop at the asian markets in Queens- I find mangos, papaya, coconut, perssimons, durian, starfruit, and longans. but I'm hoping to find other exotic fruit like latin and carribean. I found cherimoya and frozen mamey sapote(tastes like sweet potato) in Corona. I'm hoping to find black and white sapotes and other yummies I haven't tried yet. I heard that black sapote tastes like chocol

Ohh... that explains it. I was thinking "why are they still using an outdated, politically offensive term?" Tamukha, do you know if naturopaths are required to do the minor surgeries or any injections? I didn't know that Baylor had a program. I saw that there is a program at Columbia, which is closer to me, but they only accept M.D.'s into the program. Plus, being an Ivy league,

Hi everybody, I've been eating these for at least a couple days last week and last night too. Yum! Slice a turnip (or daikon or other radish type root veggie) on a mandoline - these will be your wrappers. Add thai basil, cilantro, and mint. Add sprouts- I've been using mung sprouts Add sliced mango and avocado. A little mashed avocado will seal your wrapper well. In a bowl com

Thanks guys! I actually learned that homeopaths work on dilutions of herbs and also use stuff like crystals and energy healing. I think that naturopathy is the way I'd like to go. Only I read that some of them do minor surgery, such as removing stuff from your skin. Needles and blood kind of freak me out, so if I learn that I have to do that than it's not right for me. I thought about Orienta
