haha yes, its almost as if the food is more satisfying like that. right now - i've got unshelled mac nuts i gathered myself, sprouts that are ready to be eaten, and had a kale/lettuce/carrot/greenbean salad (all of which i grew in my garden) with wild cherry tomatoes that we picked along the beach the other day. its so much more rewarding an experience when you've got that kind of relationship w

Sure, some stores (usually the smaller ones) will be glad to give you free produce that they may throw out anyways...or sell to you at a discounted price. This is how organizations like Food Not Bombs gets a lot of their food. Also, some farmer's markets will discard unbought produce or greens that have been sitting out all day in the heat, etc so hit em up as they're closing down and packin up

i just made a kale/walnut/green bean mix the other day with a fresh homemade cranberry dressing. altho i steamed the green beans for a couple minutes and then sauteed everything up for a couple minutes in coconut oi. but you could still eat it raw like that. i like eating them by themselves raw too. Has anyone ever sun dried their own raisins?

i'm getting so f*** frustrated with people. i tell them 100's of times I'm trying to eat only raw, uncooked, foods and still they offer me stuff that's cooked vegetarian. I live in a complex where everyone is heavy meat eaters and it always smells like barbecue or whatever else. "Oh but we made coleslaw" (with mayo in it) or "there's some veggies we grilled up"...... Is it th

hmmm...who is writing the article and what is their intent behind it? are they supporting using pharmaceutical drugs instead or what? i don't understand their view. it seems ludicrous. i'd like to read that article if you have a link of it. Just about everything has some kind of toxicity to it tho, right? Even the air we breathe. And also, there are numerous ways to administer herbs to the bo

hey thank you everyone for the replies! i'll definitely check out the bates method. and a hawaiian herbal medicines teacher at the university here is the one i heard it from. i don't think he'd be telling his students something that would permanently mess up their eyes.... but i would just like to do a little more research before i try it.

well since i've been eating raw, i've found that i don't have cravings for alcohol very much anymore...and i used to drink a lot. when i'm eating high raw (especially lots of fruit) i find that it's almost like a natural high i have. i think its easy to slip back into old habits if you're just sitting around doing nothing and letting yourself get bored. try changing your routine up at night an

just soaked some wheatberries for 24 hours then drain the water and let them sit to sprout for 12 hours. soaked some sunflower seeds for 12 hours and drained them. then threw em in a blender with some spices and blended them up as best i could. spread it thin on a plate and set it out to dry in the sun for a day. it is pretty good. next time tho, i'd like to grind it all up better so the bread (

even going vegan seems way extreme for some people. i was watching some show the other day, where alicia silverstone came on and was talking about her vegan lifestyle and how she could not imagine eating dairy and meat again. she's even put out a vegan cook book...hey its a start.

When switching from cooked to raw i think its natural to crave more food, because we're used to eating large portions of heavy/filling/starchy foods. it takes a while for our stomachs to shrink and get used to eating less density foods. for breakfast i usually have fruit smoothies... if you buy at farmer's markets and fruits that are on sale in grocery stores, it's not that expensive. banan
