Brian Clements book 'Living Foods for Optimum Health' is good and also Ann Wigmore's little book - I think it's just called 'The Sprouting Book'. You can see soak times online at various sprouting sites though... Alison www.pathlesstrodden.com

I experience as very sudden, painful sore throat when I drink too much beet juice. It feels like someone's been grating my voice box! It lasts 24 hours at least. Fine when I mix it with other juices though...

I am trying to ascertain the simple/complex carbohydrate balance in grain sprouts. I know when you sprout grains (I am doing wheat, oats and quinoa) the complex carbohydrate turn to simple carbohydrate, and I have read that the longer you sprout them for the more complex gets turned into simple. I can't find any sort of confirmation, figures or measurements for this though - I've search online

I'm living in Europe at the moment, but am thinking that my future might see me transferring somewhere warmer, somewhere that assists the raw-food, high fruit diet. Would love to hear about where people using this forum live and how easy is it to be LFRW where you all are? Alison

This sounds like exactly the problem I have. It's slowly getting better after my pineapple eating incident, I'll keep an eye on it, but I think that was the problem (fingers crossed!). I used to get this very often, perhaps a year ago when my diet was much poorer. I'd monitor what fruit you are eating, but also maybe investigate whether you may have an inbalance of candida....in the past, when

This is all really helpful stuff and reassuring that others have experienced it - thanks. I'm pleased to have this board for support. I shan't be downhearted that the fruit is not working for me, just be careful with my pineapple intake. I'll monitor the situation closely. I feel as if I'm discovering new things about my lifestyle and my body everyday...today is day 6 of raw, and it's going

Hi all, I've been high raw a while but am now on day 5 of my first all raw experiment, pretty much following 801010. I'm eating a lot of fruit - apples, pears, bananas and citrus mainly. In addition, on Sunday I had virtually all of a pineapple. I found it very acidic and noticed the morning after that the corners of my mouth were sore. It hurts if I open my mouth wide and feels as if the

I bought a second hand Super Tramp recounder on e-bay and have used it nearly everyday since November. I did need some help setting it up though - it does require strength. I really enjoy the light exercise without always having to go outside when it is very cold. :-)

Anyone from mid Italy use these forums? I'm English, live in Tuscany and am currently transitioning to raw. Would be nice to chat to someone reasonably local. Alison

Hi Veghunter, Good to hear from someone dealing with similar things. I'm a little underweight now - I haven't been able to manage to eat enough calories to maintain my weight (I have IBS-like symptoms including a recent very bad bout of constipation) so it's just been dropping off. My energy levels have been very bad since dropping weight. I think this mainly because I'm just not gettin

Tamukha, The book is winging its way to me as we speak. The reason I ask is it seems for every success story I read about 80 10 10 there are many stories from people it hasn't worked for, people that end up feeling much worse and give up with it. I thought, with my history of blood sugar issues - PCOS which is believed to be a pancreatic problem with the body not reading insulin properly

Does anyone have personal experience with 80 10 10 with candida and/or PCOS (poly-cystic ovarian symdrome). I have PCOS and the insulin resistance problems that come with it. I also had candida diagnosed in autumn last year (main symptom IBS) and have been altering my diet for 6 months to address it. I am interested in 80 10 10. At the moment I'm not eating much fat as I'm having problems w

I'm transitioning to a raw food diet. I find the hardest thing evenings meals. I have just changed career and moved to a new country with a new language, so have a lot of challenges in my life at the moment. When I get home I feel as if I need the emotional, physical and mental hit that a larger than necessary dish of something with brown rice, millet, potato or the like offer me. I know t

I am on an anti candida (no sugar) diet. I love sprouting and and am keen to include some sprouted grains in my diet. The candida book I am following seems contradictory: In one place it says that sprouted grains are a great addition to salads. In another place it says to avoid breads made with sprouted grains as they very often have been fermented. Do sprouts ferment and produce sug

I've had a colonic and felt it to be beneficial. I will do it again. I've read a lot about bowel cleansing and seen many pictures of waste matter removed during the process (if you want a read Dr Jensen's Guide to Better Bowel Care is interesting). My recommendation would be to go and have one and decide for yourself based on how it makes you feel. Alison

Tamukha, Thanks for the link. I had a read through and can see diverse opinions on the subject.. I'm not eating any fruit, as part of the anti candida diet I've temporarily eliminated all sugars. I'm wondering if there's something else I can take which will aid elimiation - perhaps psyillium? Not that I want to add to my supplements really, I'm already taking probiotics, caprylic acid, vit

I'm after some advice regarding coffee enemas. I have a haemorrhoid which appearred last year. Since then my diet and lifestyle have improved immeasurably - I'm vegan, about 60% raw now and eating an anti candida diet (with no sugar). I feel as if my body is going through a long needed detox which will probably take some time. I am slowly increasing my candida supplements, but (as they are

I've had some success - finding that Wholefoods in High Street Kensington sell unshelled walnuts, almonds and hazlenuts. They are tasty! Tried John Lewis Oxford Street with no luck Had intended to try Selfridges but couldn't face it. I'm not an Oxford Street fan. Alison

Thanks all. I live in Surrey but am in London a lot. I will try John Lewis food hall and Selfridges next time I am that way. Will post any success! Unshelled nuts - the only reason to want stores to bring out their Christmas goods early! Alison

Where can I buy unshelled nuts in the UK? The only place I've found so far is Waitrose, that sell organic unshelled walnuts only. I'm dealing with candida and would really love some unshelled brazils or hazlenuts but can't find them anywhere. I don't want to have to wait until Christmas when they always appear! Thanks, Alison

Thanks to both of you for your responses. I don't envisage doing the water fast until August, so I have the time to research more. Good to hear you've gone 17 days Sharrhan; I had wanted to try at least a week. In the mentime, I'm trying to get as clean as possible. Eating vegan; raw until dinner and planning at least one juice fast in the coming weeks.

Jennifer, I've suffered migraines, related to my menstrual cycle, for some time. I have PCOS, so when I first hit puberty and my periods were all over the shop, I was put on the contraceptive pill. I came off it about 4 years ago, managed to bring on my peiods by controlling my diet etc., and then started getting a 'attack' every time I had a period (which was about once every 6 weeks) - ei

I am considering doing a water fast later this year. This would be my first experience of water fasting; I'd be interested to hear experiences of others who have done this type of fast. Particularly: - How long did you fast for and how did you find the process? - Do you feel the benefits have been worth it? - Where did you do the fast (I am in the UK). Alison
