Hi, everyone. I used to use these message boards a really long time ago (6 years to be exact!). I was 90%-100% raw at that time. Since then I have introduced lots of other foods into my diet but I am still a fan of the raw food lifestyle and its ways. Lately I have been wondering about everyone's whereabouts. Has anyone heard from Suvine? I miss her!

Exercise, exercise, exercise. If all else fails, get ACTIVE. It gets everything moving if you're looking for a last resort. I also agree with the aforementioned suggestion of proper food combining.

I don't monitor my sugar levels but I think that all melons are equally sugary. Cantaloupes are usually sold under ripe at grocery stores. I rarely find any that are in the happy medium between rock hard and rotting. Cantaloupes that are under ripe have a lot of dark green color towards their rind when you slice them, and they'll be firm fleshed all the way to the center of the fruit. If you let

I'm also curious, I visited a holistic nutritionist when I was 15 and she said that I needed to detox heavy metals from my body (although I can't remember why...).

I found a snail in my raspberries two years ago and I was so upset. I didn't even know what to do with it since I didn't have a berry patch in my backyard at the time.

I agree with happyway, I would use either vinegar or quality alcohol followed by a quick rinse in pure water to polish off the skins of whatever you're going to eat if you're worried about it.

There's some in my garden. I want it to mature a little more before I attempt eating it.

The most honorable thing that you're doing is continuing to commit to the lifestyle changes you've worked towards achieving. Not everyone in your position would do the same thing. I'm sure everything will work out for you. <3

I'm sorry if I came off negatively to anyone here. Everyone participating on these boards comes from different a different location and background. Perhaps organic foods are not much different in price for you, but in my area, organic food is significantly higher priced than conventional. I have been eating raw foods for 3 years now, and the grocery bill is high enough without solely buying organ

For everyone's rude statements about conventional produce, I'd just like to say, is that so? Are you insinuating that people don't care about their health or environment because they buy conventional produce? I am 17 years old. I don't have a stable income, and to make things easier, I purchase mainly conventional produce. I have an organic garden but I can't afford to implement an orchard. I'

I buy mostly conventional produce but if it's something with a very permeable skin, noticeable pesticide residue or there's no safer alternative, I'll either skip it or get organic. It is too expensive to even entertain the thought of buying all my groceries organic. For example, cherries at my local co-op were 9.99 a lb. That means the average bag of cherries would reach upwards of 25 doll

Why was Brian Clement's diagnosis so exaggerated? I don't understand his hostility towards a fruitarian diet, especially since there was nothing out of the ordinary or life-threatening in the blood analysis.

I eat...a LOT...and I don't know why I don't get a period. Probably 1,500 calories a day. I used to count and it was around there. I fast a bit so maybe that has to do with it?

Why would you stop eating it if it helped you to digest things properly? I think you should go back to eating the coconut. It seems to have worked well with you.

I don't understand why you couldn't live off of just cucumbers. If it was caloric sustenance that you were worried about, you could always eat some avocados or raw nuts (seems that a lot of people here like them and don't have a problem eating them). If I were you, I'd try new things...there's a tropical fruit section, a section devoted entirely to different tomatoes, melons, grapes, apples,

I need to read more about GMO foods. I know some of the foods I eat are genetically modified, but I don't understand what part of their genetics was altered, and how so. For example, huge papayas - those were genetically modified to be 5 times their usually tiny size, but still, I don't understand how they were tweaked.

Eh, I've been raw for a long time, almost 1/4th of my life. I am pretty used to the price. I don't have to buy medications. My skin is perfect. I don't use diet pills or eat fast food or need all of the cosmetics & products that my peers do. It evens out.

Hey, everyone. I just wanted to post (for once) that I found perfect strawberries for 99 cents a package yesterday at a discount store. They usually sell for about 2.98 around here. I also got an entire bag of tangelos for two dollars. What are some good deals you've gotten on fruits and veg?

Hi, everyone. Haven't been on these boards in a long time, but anyway. My compost pile is too anaerobic. The thing probably weighs more than I do as it is all of my fruitarian rinds, seeds, etc. and barely any yard waste (grass, mulch, leaves). I added some leaves but I'm having trouble getting it to turn/mix because it's so heavy. The compost doesn't smell like rotting food. It does have tha

get some zinc and b vitamins from sunflower, sesame and pumpkin seeds...eat more greens or take a greens supplement. make sure you're getting fats to assimilate these vitamins. see a nutritionist or naturopath who can help you personalize your diet.

I think your percentage of raw (and this is just a guess, since I know nothing about your eating habits) is too low to ensure that you'd have an easy morning after experience with alcohol. I don't think combining alcohol with a raw food diet is a good idea in any situation, but if you must, I believe that organic wine with minimal sulfates is the best bet.
