I just got back my blood test results and it turns out my thyroid is well within the normal limits. What I learned is everything I was tested on was fine except my calcium. The normal range is between 8.5-10.3. I was at 10.5. Has anyone dealt with that? This is what the report says: "When blood calcium levels get low (hypocalcemia), the bones release calcium to bring it back to a good blo

Just wondering if raw food has helped anyone on the list who has thyroid problems, either hyper or hypo. Thanks.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful July 4th. We can have fireworks in our neighborhood. Well, I started a 3 month parasite cleanse last Thursday. For the last couple of days I have felt bloated. My appitite is gone. That's OK. It suggests to fast for the first 2 weeks anyway, so that's what I'm doing. It's not a water fast, but a liquid fast. I'm not interested in eating any solid food at al

Hi Prism, Great to hear from you. I'll be about 20 minutes south of Santa Cruz. I found a raw vegan group in the area on Meetup.com. I'm looking forward to meeting people and being around other raw fooders and having community. That will be an all new experience for me. I love SoCal, too. I lived in Covina for about a year many years ago. It was a very nice town. Glad to hear you're gettin

I've been very busy not online very often. This week, I have been able to eat 100% raw! YEA!! I really prefer it. I've been pricing Vitamixes and Juicers. I hope to go on a little juice fast once I'm settled in my home. I'm moving to Watsonville, CA as soon as we find a house. So, the question is, Brillview Juicer or a Green Star juicer. Also, what kind of Vitamix would be best? I'm looking into

You are powerful! There are some great videos on youtube about vegan raw food weight lifters. I don't have the links on hand, but I'm sure you can search for them.

Welcome back, Spectrum. We're here to support you wherever you want it. I eat lots of greens, too. I'm finding I don't get as hungry on them as quickly like I did when I eat a more fruit than greens. Best of luck with your raw journey. Mona

Here I am in San Jose, CA without a car or a job yet. There are possibilities. Still going strong on the raw food diet. I added some things into my diet that I read about: drink a glass of water with fresh lemon juice. 20 mins later drink water with 2 Tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar. I do this 2 times a day now. This is to increase the acid in your stomach so you absorb more min

Trive, I agree with Jodi, most of go through periods of eating more cooked than we want. It's a part of the process for many of us. What I've noticed too, is that many people who post are not 100% raw. Hope you keep us posted.

Hi Jody. It is a new chapter in my life. I'm enjoying being with my parents. My mom loves fresh veggies and has been taking me to a farmer's market regularly. I found out I can get unpasteurized almonds there. I bought a huge bag. I love eating the greens I couldn't get in Panama. My salads are really wonderful and filled with flavors that I hadn't had in several years. I love eating fruit I

Welcome back! Jodi is right on. That's the way to do it. Eventually, the old habits will be replaced by the new ones. The important thing is you're back on track with a great support group. This works if you work it. So keep coming back and give us updates. We would love to hear from you. Blessings, Mona The distance is nothing; it is only the first step toward it that is difficult.

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't been around for quite some time. I learned about 1 1/2 months ago that I would be moving back to California on Dec. 20. It will be the first time in 15 years that I've spent Christmas with my family. My parents are thrilled! They all know I'm a raw foodist so that won't be a problem. I don't know exactly where we will be living yet. No matter where -- F

Hi Prism. Yes that's my blog. I'm doing more raw food on it than I did when I started it. Glad you like it. I'm still trying to get back to the US. My husband hasn't had any luck getting a job yet. I'm planning on returning in Jan no matter what. I really want to be home. My folks are in their 80's, close to 90, and my mom is having knee replacement surgery and would like me to help out wh

It was creepy. The whole atmosphere changed. Sounds like you've experienced quite a bit. Wow! I'm glad to hear that Irene didn't affect you like it did others. The pics look devastating. Take care. Mona In daily practice, reflect on the benefits of love, compassion and kindness, then reflect on the disadvantages of anger. Such continuous contemplation, the growing appreciation of love,

I've heard that, too, EarthAngel. Haven't tried it for myself though. I struggled through cravings, too, Raw Artist. It's all in my diary if you want to read about my experience. I think we each handle them a bit differently. My was was to delay, delay, delay until the next meal which I knew was raw. Eventually, the cravings left. Let us know how you handle your cravings. I am hanging in there with my raw food. On Wednesday, I wasn't feeling right, just wanted to sleep and noticed after taking a nap that I was still feeling funny. So I decided to take my temp and it was almost 103! That explained it; I was going through a cleanse. I went back to bed and slept the rest of the day. My body had recovered by the next morning. Every thing was back to normal and I felt

Hi Trive, Earthquakes bring back lots of memories of when I lived in CA. I lived in San Jose when the 1989 quake shook the Bay Area and the freeway collapsed. I wanted to ask, what did you experience with Hurricane Irene? I saw on the map that it went through Virginia.

My resume is done, I've applied to one company and in plan on applying to another this week. If you live in the Bay Area and have any job openings in Jan, 2012, please let me know. Hi Trive, Oh my, I have been where you are. I still am in some ways. I can be 95%-100% raw and then something comes up and it's really hard to get back into the routine of being raw again. I prefer not to go to restaurants, but get invited all the time. I try to eat either before I go or again when I get home. I hope you'll be able to find a way to get back on track. Where in the US are you

Hi Suncloud. I'm so happy to hear you went to our blog. Yes, the little girl is my granddaughter. She just turned 5. I'm not sure where my husband found the Dance Party photo. It looks like it's from the early to mid 1960s. We used to post a lot more but now my husband posts most of his stuff on facebook. He's trying to be less political on it since he's looking for a job in California.

Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've posted. I've been traveling and working. Then for a while I couldn't get online. Living in a foreign country does have its internet disadvantages. Life has been great in spite of the fact that my cravings are as strong as they were since my last post. Gotta admit, sometimes I give in, sometimes I don't. My attempts for doing 80/10/10 always end wi

It does sound like you could use support. You're in the right place for that. What I did when I started to eat more raw food, I did one step at a time. I started with fruit smoothies in the morning and ate a raw food lunch. Then at dinner, I either ate a large salad which wasn't vegan at the time or cooked meal. It took me a couple of months before I told my husband what I was doing. I was a

I've been so busy lately I haven't had a chance to go to this sight lately. Temptation keeps following me around. I tried dry fasting again, but there's things about it I'm not too keen on. So right now, after relapsing one meal with Indian food, I started 80/10/10. So far, so good. I quickly got results but still feeling like I'm cleansing quite a bit. That's what happens. Any of you near
