Sorry if anyone finds this inappropriate...
So I've been on and off with the raw food thing for a while now. Right now I'm not doing so good, maybe about 50% of my diet is raw. But ever since starting this, rgardless of how commited I am atthe time, I've had irregular periods. Just before fall last year I came off my birth control. About 3 months later, after a few normal periods I stopped having

Hey there,
Not sure if this is in the right place so feel free to move it around as you see fit. Just came across these food containers which I think are pretty cool for those of us who need to bring food with us everywhere. They come in perfect little sizes and keep it all cold and fresh. You may have heard of them before, be opposed to plastic etc etc... Either way, here's the link to do with

oooh excitment. I have wanted to go to your raw food farm thinger (excuse the immaturity) for over a year now but im too young but only till may 1st - yay 21
I live in Naples fl and honestly don't have the money to be excessive with my food so the idea of growing it down here despite all the bugs is great. Anyways, thanks.

So starting today I'm giving my first big effort to go raw. So far I have just planned for one week to see how it goes and how I feel. The last thing I want to do is set my expectations too high while starting out.
I get very practical in stressful situations so i figured this would be easier if I went through a book, picked some meals, and wrote out a food plan and a list of exactly what I woul

It's great to hear that your doing things the way you are
I must say though (and this isn't directed at anyone here or anything they have said), that I notice alot of people who live a natural lifestyle tend to have a certain odor about them. As much as we probably shouldn't care about these things, personal hygiene realy does matter. I don't think there's any excuse. I have met alot of people

Happy new year
Not to drag anyone down here but is there anyone else on here who doesn't drink?
I find myself being left out of alot of things, such as new years eve, because they think my presence is going to upset their fun. Where I live it seems there's nothing available for those who have decided not to drink alcohol. I just have to spend these days on my own. I have yet to find anyone lik

7. The cost?
I was wondering what it would cost (estimkate) to start a very small garden in florida? Assuming I would have to buy plants and fencing etc. since I live in the everglades with all the little animals. I was trying to work out if it would be cheaper in the long run. I would just want a few things like tomatos etc. Ooh and I LOVE mangos. Thanks!

I haven't tried that no. I did ask my doctor about the nasal sprays of b12 they have now. She looked at me in her usual disaproving way and told me that I could try it at my own risk. She said to get the amount of b12 I get from the shot I would have to take 100 times the amount of the nasal spray. I need a new doctor. When she found out I was a vegetarian by 8 years old she said "If I was y

Thanks! I wish I could go without it but my body doesn't absorbe it. It has to be put straight into my bloodstream. It's hard affording those things though (student)! I've gone about 5 months without one right now and my toes are numb/tingly most of the time and my arms just feel really weak. My speech is going downhill too

10. Quick Question
Without getting into that b12 discussion once again... I was wondering if anyone knew what b12 shots are made from? I need to take them once a month and unfortunately I have only just started wondering if they come from animal sorces or not (and am I right in assuming that they wouldn't be considered raw? hehe). Thanks.

Thanks guys,I appreciate it.
I would like to ask though why you are opposed to it. It's always good to have both sides of an argument before making a decision. And is there any alternatives you would recommend?

Hi there
I am due to fly back to the UK for 10 days this friday (20th).
I have been oo-ing and ahh-ing and hum-ing and ha-ing over the whole raw food thing for months now since I first learnt about its existence back in January. Finaly, I feel ready to give it a go. Nothing drastic, but I want to at least try it and see how I feel about it. All being well, I would just continue with it. If not

Does anyone living in S.Florida grow anything themselves? I'm wondering how you would manage with all the bugs and mosquitos etc. without using pesticides (I wouldn't have a clue where to start with the natural ways).
Other than that I'm assuming the conditions would be perfect for growing most things (Just wondering how I could make this any cheaper for myself in the long run).
Thanks!

I would be cautious of the spirulina. When I was told about my b12 anemia I started taking it. When I started learning more about nutrition I came across alot of speculation about how spirulina can actualy make a lack of b12 (however extreme) worse. I was also cautioned by a R. Dietician. I wish I could find some info for you right now but am in a hurry. It may just be speculation but better safe

Just a quick question...
which is cheaper, vegan or raw?
I would assume raw because it's pretty much vegan without all the fluff right?
(I'm trying to decide if I should go from vegetarian to vegan to raw, or just straight from vegetarian to raw).
I'm on a student budget here so the price is really going to effect my decision.
I live in south Florida and we have a couple of farmers markets

:0 you guys get so passionate about this.
I am definatly sticking to the info in my last post about B12 because after consulting with registered dieticians, my doctor, and doing my own reading from trustworthy sources it all seems to be correct.
Hope you all come to some agreement. Smile!

I was told my blood pressure had shot up from being very low to very high i nthe space of about 3 months. I've been a vegetarian for about 12 years now and it's always been at a healthy level. I did start gaining weight quickly with no drastic changes in my diet. I did eat a lot of microwave meals and chocolate. My doctor told me to seriously cut down my carb intake (being veg this was hard for m

Sueko,
I'm going to give you a link to a video on welikeitraw.com which I discovered through a vegan girl in my nutrition class in college. It doesn't have alot of details or information but it is very interesting to watch.
"Raw For 30 is a powerful documentary, in the works, about a group of average Americans who healed their diabetes naturally, (thnx Chris Whitcoe for the link). P

Hi! I'd like to start by saying I don't follow a raw foods diet but have been a vegetarian for about 12 years now. (I'm here because I'm researching the diet for a class).
About 5 years ago I was diagnosed as being anemic with B12 deficiency.
There's two reasons for your deficiency:
a) Your diet is severely lacking
b)You don't have whats called the intrinsic factor in your digestive system.
