Thanks Kref, looked into Fuhrman, and ordered his book and a few others about autioimmune stuff from the library. Thanks Tamukha. Yes, the steriod is just treating the symptom, not the cause. Good point about having your diet make you feel more in controll. Giving her a childrens Omega 3,6,9 supplement, and a prebiotic/probiotic that you mix with water. I think the acupuncture, even if its pe

Thanks, looking into the gluten intolerance. For the most part, she eats healthy, but she does eat bread, she is not 100% veggie. Thinking maybe should try the process of identifying what alergies she might have, the elimanation method or whatever it's called. Making her an appt with in a childrens acupuncture clinic. I'm not too thrilled about the steriod cream either, but since that is what

Hello Community. I've been a little dormant with my participation here as of late, but seeking advice from the collective wisdom here. Please don't read further if you get grossed out by health conditions, because this one is a little graphic. My six year old daughter was just diagnosed with vulvar lichen sclerosus, an autoimmune disorder which affects the skin around her vagina. (for more

I was warned that PG&E would be putting smart meters in, and one day there they were, I didn't even notice when it was installed. Did not notice any adverse health affects for family, even the cat likes to hang out in the room that the smart meter is outside of. I did notice however that our bill was almost $300 this month. PG&E is marketing the smart meter to be some green tool for energ

hmmm, just adding my 2 cents here but, I have been a member here for years and I have noticed that some members take this site way too seriuosly. There is a world outside of this forum! I taken many breaks from the interesting sometimes tiring debates that are presented here, and I find that I benefit most fromt the support we are supposed to be giving/recieving here when I am truly honest &a

Is anyone here worried about the radiation from Japan the west coast? Tried to find tincture of iodine everywhere today; and everywhere was sold out. Planning on applying to whole family.

I have no qualms with salt myself, I like the pink stuff, the stuff I get comes somewhere from Utah. The only thing I would try to be conscious of is where the source is, because it is mined, make sure it's not being mined by children...etc.

Hey folks, school has started and I have so many fmily potlucks to go to for the kids classes, so far 3, I usually think green or fruit salad, but I'm getting a little bored... Does anyone have any good ideas for a dish that would be friendly for young children and parents alike? Doesn't take more than an hour to prepare and doesn't break the bank either?

When you rinse, do the clumps break up? or maybe when they get light, the light doesn't penetrate all the seeds?

I don't really think what other adults do to thier bodies is really any of my business,(what they put into it or outside of it) and I think it says something about a person wh gets so upset over someone elses choices. There was a man arrested not to long ago for giving his small child a tatoo, I most definately think that is unacceptable, but consenting adults make their own choices. I have on

I advocate the non-hormonal IUD... again. I have talked with my doctor and two friends of mine who are gyno's and they have all told me that the cervical opening flucates every month with your cycle, so the opening to your uterus, your cervix is never "sealed" so the "highway for bacteria" notion is really just serves to scare you, by that logic, the opening to your vagina wou

My mom makes her own elderberry syrup every year. I give it to the kids as a cough syrup; it seems to help them and they like it. Better than giving them the over the counter stuff, for cough, colds etc, esp now that they are in school. And it tastes good...

Ive read that banana's contain tryptophan, they have never made me feel really sleepy though. Plenty of exercise should help, and common sense things like waking early, so you can be tired and ready for bed at bedtime, no stimulants, I think caffiene takes two weeks to detox out of the body, and no tv before bed. Breathing exercises might help.

Took 4yr old daughter to Dr. today for her Kindergarten physical, he said she needs more calcium, and vit D. He recommended orange juice with the cal & D added. Anyone have any ideas for adding whole foods into her diet that would be good for a childs palate? She's getting into salads but I'm not sure she would eat enough to get what she requires. Does anyone know if halva is made with hu

My mom used to make her own pads out of flannel and cotton, they were super comfortable and I liked them a lot, and used them when I was a teenager. It felt like I didn't even have a pad, beacuse it was fabric I stopped using them when I lived with my partner, mainly because I didn't want to gross him out with the washing and stuff. Ive never used the cup things but again, my mom, loves the &quo

A young friend of mine just attempted, now he is not allowed to go to college and he isn't to be left alone. His parents are sending him to some ulta expensive year long rehab. Another person I know, my best friends sisters boyfriend tried to off himself, shot himself in the temple, but the bullet went through, in front of his young son and his mother no less. He is in a coma now at county hospit

Yeah, I was going to say stop the beets, but you beat me to it. Something in them like the oxalic acid or something can be alittle to much for the liver to process when they are raw, juiced and you drink more than a few ounces.

After the (perpermint) Dr. Bronners last night, they mostly, except for a few stragglers have vacated, thanks everyone! They didn't go for the water dish outside, but I didn't do the stick thing like curator suggested. The kids are playing with water in the yard today so maybe that will be good for them. Only one more day of our little vacation then back to the city. School is starting soo

I think coco covered the essentials, she is the parent to go to on this board. I am trying to do the same for my step kids, 4 & 7 now, to get them to be off the sugar and junky food that they like, so I can relate. Does she like nuts? my kids will eat almost any kind of nut. The only things I would add would be so go slow and if you don't have it around, she will get used to having t
