POPCICLES!!!!!!!! Here is one of my most FAVORITEST recipies in the world. Ok I know favoritest is not a word.... but it's good, trust me! "Banorpple" 3 oranges 2 apples 1 banana Optional: Frontier vanilla extract Juice together and either drink, or freeze in popcicle trays. It's a great way to make oranges "disappear!" Angie

Congradulations!!!! First of all, stay in touch with supportive people ... I am sure you will do great. You sound like you are right on track. I've found that When people criticize your choices it's because they feel insecure about it and/or lack information. You can try to educate them, but mostly it's like talking to a post, so keep your responses short and simple, or just laugh it off

I can't believe no one's mentioned HIKING yet!! I LOVE backpacking, walking, hill-climbing, stair-climbing (yeah I've been known to go into businesses during my lunch hour and climb to the top of 40 floor buildings - FUN!) Angie

Thank you for the advice. I'm glad to hear I don't have to wait so long to plant! I love the idea of sheet mulching and will look more into it. Where our septic drainfield is, is really obvious because there are some HUGE bunches of knapweed and GIGANTIC weeds with TRUNKS instead of stems (like 3/4 inch wide!) So macfly, you're saying if I hack those down and just leave them there it will act

Coco- Can you tell me more about the juice fast your mom did for her cervical cancer? My sister-in-law's friend has this, due to (remember Norplant?) a recall on an implantable form of birth control. She was under 18 during the recall and her mom refused to let her get it out - so 5 years later there it still sits in her arm... and she has the cervical cancer everyone got from it. Of cour

Hi there! Welcome!! My husband is not into raw foods either. (He says if I will blend up a rare steak with some veggies, then MAYBE -haha). I am not 100% raw yet, but so far I have been having a green smoothie for breakfast and a raw lunch of fruit and a cooked dinner. But here is what I always have on hand: 1. Stuff to make green smoothies: I always have on hand about 2-5 heads of

Hey Cosbynian, I'm 28 also, and a Christian, about the same % of raw as you. I also agree with your principles of trying to stay out of debt - we are big Dave Ramsey Show fans in our house.... if you want, he's on talk radio and offers great encouragement for the debt-free lifestyle. My family and I live in Spokane WA. I have also not met a lot of raw Christians - either and noticed many

Ditto on the food combining suggestions. Apples also give me horrid smelly gas, even if I eat them alone. Angie

Sapphire, I know you were asking Bryan, but I have some experience with the Arise and Shine cleanse. I've done it at least 5 times, and I thought it was amazing! There are three levels you can go to. Basically you do something every 1 1/2 hours - either take a bentonite (clay) and psyllium husk shake or gentle herbs (mostly nutritive) in a capsule form. The day starts with the shake, t

Wow ladies! There are so many inspiring stories here! Congradulations ChristinaO, Jamielor, on your pregnancies! And Coco and Blue_butterfly ... wow... I am so in tune with wanting to birth alone. I have a 9-month old now. It was my intention to birth alone with him (although I had a midwife for prenatal care), but it didn't turn out that way, unfortunately. I ended up having an almost

Claire, Nope - never was on insulin or medications for diabetes- probably should have been. Looking back on the last ten years I have had some pretty severe signs of diabetes, but no health insurance or money to do anything about it... so it was kind of a moot point. I just tried to get through it. I got some really good care and a glucometer with a lot of testing supplies while I was pregn

I learned something interesting from the Diabetic Living magazine that I subscribe to. Not that I subscribe to all their theories regarding diabetes... but the Winter 2007 issue had an article about neuropathy - which most people understand has to do with diabetics eventually loosing their feet because of nerve damage, slow-healing skin, circulation problems... those are some of the commonly und

163. Grapples
Oh good Lord. You will never believe what I saw at the store. "Grapples." For $4.59 you can purchase four tiny apples that include "natural and artificial grape flavor." My cousin tried them and said they don't taste much like grapes...

I saw a guy once at a raw potluck that actually demonstrated his ability to do this. He just wanted to see if he could do it, but after he found out that yes, he could, that was the end of it. It was interesting. -Angie

OMG Coco I love you. You make me feel not alone!! I just got a brilliant lecture from my step-father in-law about how he thought we didn't get our son circumcized because we didn't have the money, and that it's "not too late" if we needed them to pay for it. Then he proceeded to tell me in explicit detail how he had to get cir'q at 24 b/c he got aroused eveywhere he went, and he di

Should stuff be kept? If you do not LOVE the item, or the item does not serve a FUNCTION... in my 800 sq. ft. house, it's gotta go! it has taken us almost 2 weeks to destuffify after Christmas. I can't help but resent the ammount of TIME this takes, and how much I have been neglecting our son ,because Christmas presents take SO MUCH TIME to integrate into our already overstuffed home (one of

Another update - He is sick AGAIN this month (he's 9 months on the 12th) - ugh. I so can not wait till he outgrows formula! Has anyone ever read the label? 40% high fruitcose corn syrup, 10% processed soy crap, 20% soybean oil. Gross. But I did want to report some good news! Although he still hates whole fruit, avocados, and veggies ... since I bought a Vita Mix for myself for Christmas

Try this! It's called "Banorpple" - my creation. 3 oranges 1 apple 1 banana Touch of Frontier brand vanilla flavoring for an extra treat. The banana part will come out differently depending on what type of juicer you have - I have a Juiceman Jr. -Angie

I found a screamin' deal on a Vita Mix 5000 on craigslist while I was in Seattle for Christmas - just $200! WOOO! I am so happy. I have wanted one of these for at least 8 years. A few q's though.... Is it important that the variable speed feature doesn't work? The high and low, on and off works just fine. I just wondered if this is an early indication of a greater problem? Angie

What will I manifest with my raw energy? My goal as a raw foodist is to create a garden, where people in need of fruits and vegetables (raw foodist or not) can obtain them for free. The goal is to be as self-sufficient as possible (make own compost, well water on gravity-fed system). We have 1/2 acre of our own, and another acre that we are leasing long-term. This has been a goal of min

Here is something I thought of... Ok after you do some really major detoxing, obviously your body becomes extremely more sensitive than the average Joe on the SAD diet. One of these paranoid things I always worry about... What if you were in some horrible accident and rendered unconcious and EMTs trying to save your life gave you the average dose of meds and/or anesthesia for some life savin

I really can't afford the big supplements - can't do some of these programs that cost $3 and upwards a day! lol. And I agree on taking supp's for a specific health need when your body tells you to. Whether it's "just mental" or whatever. If you feel like you need it, and notice an improvement... do it! For example, I have been CRAVING this alfalfa/red raspberry/hibiscus tea several

I guess I'm "bad" because I use all the conventional stuff like Colgate and VO5. But most of what I use besides the few times of year I have to buy is scavanged from evictions that I clean up after. Yay for free stuff!! I usually only have to buy shampoo and body wash 2 or 3 times a year because of that! Someday I'd like to move into more eco-friendly products... mainly ones that ar

Well, no one's mentioned this so I will. SMARTWOOL SOCKS! ($20) Very worth the price! And a good REI fleece zip-up top or hoodie ($40) - the basic one - no frills needed. Both items breathe, but keep the warmth in. And maybe a cute fleece hat. In my leaner financial years when we couldn't afford to use the heat, these were great... and I still have them 5 years later, they are still in exce
