hiya tara, same here coated tongue for the longest time. i experienced improvement after an 11 day master cleanse last july, and then it has gotten progressively better... i've been raw since the cleanse, and i've also been taking ayurvedic herbs to support various imbalances within my system, and doing oil pulling as well. i don't know which protocol to give credit to the improvement, probabl

sandradee, i think you said you were going to start oil pulling, which is said to help with skin issues as well. i'd be interested to hear if that starts working for you...

welcome ss! i do strength training and yoga, and i like a green smoothie about 30 minutes after a workout with bananas & kale/spinach/sprouts and hemp seeds. greens and seeds for protein, banana for quick fuel (but more dense and filling than some other fruits). i don't know the scientific basis behind it, that just feels right to me... if you're getting enough greens, you're getting enough p

don't be saddened, that's just the context of this environment. its not that you are upsetting our sensibilities, or that the moderators are trying to shelter us from the big bad world out there. you're correct, we are all pretty smart here, and we are all well aware that there are raw foodists who eat non-vegan items, and there are forums for that where we could seek advice about that if we

aloha yogini & hemoOla, i can totally relate, i was such a caffeine fiend, always vascilating between binging and trying to quit... i gave up caffeine during my pregnancy, but seriously right after giving birth i shouted "CAN SOMEONE GET ME A FREAKIN' LATTE?!?!!" that's hardcore addiction! in july of last year i did an 11 day master cleanse that totally rid me of the desire for

Aloha Denise, Seems understandable that you are confused. Something to understand is that, while I'm sure a person can continue to cleanse and gain higher and higher levels of sensitivity with the foods that they are eating, that person can also choose at any time to ground themselves more, by changing their diet (raw or cooked or partially cooked or whatever!). Mr. Monarch is clearly cho

don't give up on the beautiful beet! they are so great shredded on your salads, or blended into soups (beets, lemon juice, carrot, tomato, onion, celery, garlic and dill all blended up together, add olive oil to taste if you like...), or marinated with a bit of olive oil, salt, and fresh rosemary or dill. OR very thin slices used as "chips" for veggie dips. i also am really liking r

gosh, i'll throw any dang thing in there. i once drank a red cabbage smoothie! the color was awesome, objectively it tasted terrible, but my body was totally craving whatever it is in red cabbage, i was going through a head a day at the time... today i've got apple-asian pear-cucumber-cilantro, with a fingerling of turmeric. its pretty yummy. my standard "base" is spinach/kale -

coffee is absolutely my "gateway drug" into eating crap. its screws with my body's feedback mechanism (hey i'm full! hey i don't like this!) and impulse control. alcohol affects me the same way, although to a much lesser extent than coffee. congrats on jumping off that runaway train!

the hammer method: this guy recommends hitting it with a big knife while you're holding it in your other hand. i don't know about that, but he makes it look easy... this seems pretty safe. i think that's a fake coconut though, i almost don't believe her this is my personal method, just to hack away at it with a big machete. i aspire to be this guy:

"our physical body is never older than seven years! This is due to the fact that the body recreates itself constantly. Tissue cells die and are replaced by new ones. Every second we lose about three-and-a-half million red blood cells. There is nothing to worry about though, for another three-and-a-half million are born to replace the old ones. you're right dvdai, garlic is stimulating... and as such can also rob you of energy. everyone is differently wired as to how pronounced the effects are. as for me, i'm transitioning and i still like it and i have PLENTY of energy compared with my old highly-caffeinated days. but i look to drop the garlic someday if the time becomes right... monks in ancient India avoided garlic due to its sti

i hear you coco. i wondered too... do i really need to get a dehydrator and make all these crazy desserts and junk-food look alikes to entice my kid to eat raw foods? it seems kind of counterintuitive! so i have just been making her what she wants to eat out of the food available in the house (which i have control over, obviously), taking her shopping suggestions into due consideration, making su

aflatoxin is the name for a group of toxins that are produced by two fungi called Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus. these toxins occur naturally and have been found in a wide range of commodities (particularly peanuts) used for animal and human consumption. depending on the levels, the toxins can severely affect the liver and they are a known human carcinogen. here's the most int
