I used to get them with the painful head ache when I was a child back in the 50s and 60s. Looking back I suspect that for me it was an allergy to my mother's cigarette habit. My mother couldn't smoke at work (her boss didn't like it) so she'd wait until she got home and would then smoke up a storm while she was cooking dinner. That's when I'd start seeing the patches and then get the head a

Detox? When we are ingesting things that are bad for us, our body probably trys to reject those bad things but probably can't always keep up. Sometimes people are doing so many bad things all at one time that the body realizes it would kill you if it tried to keep up with keeping you clean. I'm not talking about just food. Not getting enough rest is a factor. Your body uses the time when y

Hi nik, I can identify with your concern. No one likes to unnecessarily be exposed to pathogens. That might not have been the case of what happened. I wasn't there to hear or see the coughing person and I'm not trying marginalize what you're feeling now, but did it cross your mind that the coughing person might have had a smoker's cough or cough from the post nasal drip resulting from an all

I studied Flower Essences as a part of the curriculum in herb school. I instantly took a liking to the therapy. If the essence chosen is what you need it works on an energetic level pretty much instantly. (In my personal experience, a properly chosen Flower essence would leave me feeling as if I'd just had an hour's worth of Jin Shin Do.) If the essence chosen isn't what you need, it does no

Kundalini yoga practitioners believe that hair has a relationship to a person's electromagnetic field. Any modifications to the hair growing on any part of one's body (even the eye brows) would have an affect on one's electromagnetic field and the physical body as well and could have the end effect of various diseases or conditions.

Don't you think if they aren't using GMO seeds they'd be bragging about it and ready to rant on and on about what an adventure they had finding a source for those nonGMO seeds, name the source, and sight political actions you can take to protect that source?

Refractometer? Yeah, it measures sugar content. A refractometer is a common toy for amateur beer makers to own. Ask around. You might have a friend who could loan you one for a couple weeks to see if you really want one. If not, go visit a brewer's supply store and chat with the people who work there. I'm sure they'll be able to tell you just how versatile the instrument is or isn't.

There was once a time when all children were raised for the first year or so on a diet totally raw and for the next couple of years major supplemented raw. Then the food industry learned to "perfected" prepared formulas. We aren't all born with the ability to digest everything thrown at us. We were born to digest our mother's milk. We depended on the diversity of our mother

My 2 year old grand daughter simply loves anything fermented; pickles and sauerkrauts. She doesn't care for it if the sauerkraut is very spicy like kimchi but just sour doesn't faze her a bit. We were having some trouble getting my grandson to eat just before he turned 2. What we did was take him to the zoo and point out to him what, his favorites, the monkeys were eating. Monkey boys like

Spinach isn't the only thing your eating, right? And you're buying organic? All leafy greens and many vegetables have nitrates in them, leafy greens more so. Organic leafy greens are said to have less nitrates than "conventionally" grown leafy greens. Normally if you're over 3 months old = have an adequate amount of stomach acid to deal with nitrates it shouldn't be a problem unl

I live urbanly in an apartment with a very small yard. Rats would eat themselves into a traditional kept compost bin if I had one so I started keeping a bokashi bucket. More recently I started keeping a vermiculture in addition to the bokashi. The bokashi takes over when the worms can't keep up with my kitchen scraps. I finalize the bokashi process in my garden but they say one could do it i

Beet colored poo or pink pee? On page 70 of Victoria Boutenko's book "Green for Life" she suggests a test to see if one has Hypochlorhydria (not enough hydrochloric acid in one's stomach) might be to drink a quarter cup of beet juice and then watch to see if it changes the color of one's stool or urine "even slightly to the color of a beet". Without enough stomach acid i

When I want to use sprouts in a salad I blend them up in the salad dressing I put on it. My family hasn't a clue they're in there. They just know it tastes good. I might throw a handful of sprouts in with the regular greens of our daily leafy green smoothy. It takes planning, but when I'm ready to retire wheatberries after making Rejuvelac I like to blend the wheatberries with sprouts to ma

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Calendula officinalis (Pot marigold). Borage officinalis flowers are very pretty. The Viola (Violets) are in blossom here in Chicago right now. They're mighty tasty too. Many common herbs aren't going to have drastic effects if they're just an occasional nibble. Be careful. Get a couple good herb books and cross check them all before feasting.
