I've been raw and no added salt for 4 years (with a few slips). On those occasions when I have consumed salt, i get ppuffy and bloated, and the next morning I look as I've I've cried all night. I fell much healthier with out it. however, I have started using celtic sea salt as a dental rinse to reminieralize teeth after reading a convincing article recommending it : Chickory

I sympathize with every one and their experiences. I sometimes feel traumatized by people and their reactions. Some people act as though my eating healthily is a personal insult to them. I try to avoid social situations that revolve around food, especially when I'm feeling weak. Otherwise, it's like being a recovering alcoholic around active ones. I applaud everyone who eats raw, despite opp

Hi Prashant, Yes, I've also gotten stuffy from nuts and seeds- they are on the list of mucous-forming foods. Soaked nuts and seeds are a little better than unsoaked, but too much of the soaked still cause problems. I'm trying to play around with proportions of different foods- minimize nuts and seeds because of mucous and fat, so what to add? Root vegetables are also mucous-forming, fruit cau

Hi josephsgirl, Alot of selenium in nuts and seeds, especially Brazil nuts. A lot of the B's in leafy greens. B12 tricky, some disagreements about raw food sources, some say you should supplement. Chickory

Hi Lilpaws, Here's a link to a Body Mass Index calculator: According to the calculator, your BMI is 18.9, which is within the normal range of 18.5-24.9. You may be just fine the way you are. My experience is that I became underweight (BMI 0f 18.2) on a high fruit diet, eating seven or eight meals a day, but ganed weight (BMI of 20.2) on a high leafy green and some seeds diet, also eating muc

Hi Felix, Truth is, I was much thinner on a high fruit diet (Body Mass Index 18.2) than on a greens, seeds diet (20.2) even though I was eating a lot of fruit all day long, about 12-15 pieces of fruit a day, a piece being one banana, one apple, a cup of papaya or berries, etc. Now my diet is four meals a day, each meal consisting of about one and a half or one and three-quarters cup of leafy gr

Hi, Both my partner and I feel much better when we don't eat fruit. We eat mostly leafy greens and some soaked or sproated seeds. Our theory is that many people go through a high fruit period as a transition ( both physical and emotional)until they are ready for a high leafy green diet. Chickory

Hi, Consider the quantity you are eating. Throughout my time as a raw fooder, I've adhered to the concept that the stomach's normal capacity is about 2 cups and a meal should not exceed this amount. I've expereinced a lot of bloating and gas when I've eaten more than this. The digestive system is overloaded and can't digest completely. I think its much better to eat 4 or 4 smaller meals than

Hi, My experiences with other people's reaction to my diet causes me to agree with Rob. People trying to dissuade you from eating healthilier do not have your best interests at heart. I have been looking for opportunities to socialize with people in ways that deemphasize food - working on neighborhood issues, volunteering, going to museams and concerts. Family pressure is particularly insi

Hi RawDev, Sorry to hear about your fatigue. My partner had anemia- low iron stores and low B12- prior to going raw. At that time, nothing nutritional helped until she started eating smaller portions; then her iron stores and B12 levels shot up. She again developed low levels after a couple of years raw. Again, her levels dramatically increased when she decreased the amount of food she ate

Hi, My partner has had issues with anemia- low iron stores, low B12, and has found the same solution when she was eating cooked food or eating raw: EAT SMALLER AMOUNTS OF FOOD! Eating large amounts of iron-rich food did not help When she eats smaller portions (no more than 2 cups of food per meal, 3 or 4 meals per day), her iron and B12 levels shoot up. We think eating large amounts of
