I can relate to this discussion. As per doctors orders, I used to drink a lot of coffee when i was plagued by migraine headaches. Then i ended up having horrid headaches every time i didn't drink my daily coffees. I would start with a morning coffee so that i could function. What's worse is that caffeine has a half life of about 4-5 hours, so at noon i had to drink another cup just to make it thr

As far as i know, a lot of our digestive problems stem from the fact that we have not developed a proper gut flora. This leaves us vulnerable to opportunistic pathogens, such as candida. It's a good thing you started eating raw foods, i would recommended that you consume homemade coconut or water kefir to help strengthen your gut. You can eventually overcome food cravings by changing some of th

There is a lot of scientific evidence that consuming specific foods can help equip the body to better fight cancers and other illnesses. In fact, what we eat is our best health ally, especially in a world where our bodies are assaulted by pollution, pathogens, chemicals, radiation and so much more, from the environment. However, cancer is a very strange disease because it can do unexpected things

Hello! I don't claim to be an absolute expert in nutrition, but as far as i know, breakfast should be the most consistent meal of the day, because that's the meal that provides most of the calories you are going to be using during the day. So i tend to include foods that provide slow release carbohydrates in my breakfast meal, such as bananas and grains. I'm not sure juice alone is enough for

hey there! As far as i know, every part of the celery is good to eat. One of my favorite things to eat is actually celery root and i often add it in raw salads, in combination with carrot and lemon juice. It is a great source of vitamin k, vitamin b6, magnesium, manganese, vitamin C and phosphorous. It's not very popular, but i love it still. The leaves are edible as well and are very flavorfu

Welcome and congratulations on your lifestyle choice! I can imagine how hard it is to stay away from something tempting when everyone else around you is doing it. However, if you state your case and explain that you are going raw, your family should understand and support you along your path. Most likely, they don't think you're being serious about going fully raw or simply do not understand t

Mold spores are terrible, they can silently ruin health if no action is taken against them. My advice would be to completely eliminate any source of spores. If necessary, you might need to move somewhere else until your home is purified. Once you have eliminated mold exposure, your body should start recovering on its own. You can help it by consuming a lot of immunity boosting foods (sprouts, lea

Hey there, Really good questions. In my experience, there is not "one answer fits all" out there when it comes to raw foods. Some raw foods may help some people with some dental problems, while others may just need the help of a dental professional. The general rule is that if you are eating healthy, you are far less likely to develop dental problem when compared to those who are eat

Hi there, Don't beat yourself up for this. I read somewhere that sometimes, when the body isn't receiving enough of what it needs, it may start craving very specific foods. Perhaps you craving meat and eggs above anything else may be your body's way of letting you know that you need more protein, or more specific fats. Are you getting your blood work done regularly? It is important to monitor

Hey there! Great question! Raw vegan sources of omega fatty acids include vegetable oils (corn oil, soybean oil, sunflower oil, olive oil), flaxseed, walnuts, chia seeds, lentils, pumpkin seeds, leafy vegetables, hemp oil. Apparently, plants cannot provide the body with two types of omega-3 fatty acids: eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). To produce these two, the

I am definitely impressed by the UK chef Russell James, he seems so honest and dedicated in his work. He has put together a vast series comprising of 13 DVD to show how to prepare delicious raw foods as if you were a professional chef yourself! He also shares a lot of tips on food preparation that can make any dish seem effortless. The there's author and nutritionist Joy Houston. I LOVED her we

Hello samanthalee! I can see where you're coming from, i would be surprised as well to see an increase (even if not that significant) in cholesterol and, especially, triglycerides. The thing about raw dieting is that you can, in fact, be tricked into consuming more fatty foods, thinking they're raw and therefore "safe". Nuts, raw plant oils and avocados are loaded with fats, albe
