I've always had a large appetite, so I'm not sure, at least from my experience. I lost a lot of weight on a low-carb diet rich in nuts, to the point where my hair was falling out. Swapping the nuts for fruit, I got back to a healthy weight and even a few pounds out of my comfort zone. Maybe because I've been more sedentary this winter, or maybe because I was eating so many dates. They are nice as

Also going to have some fun with sprouting and fermentation, too! I've especially been eager to try making nut/seed cheese.

Thank you all for the tips and kind comments! I have been feeling pretty lost and alone lately, and reading this made me feel I had little team of raw cheerleaders here, ha! Dehydration and fiber don't seem to be an issue, though I admit to have been pretty sedentary lately. It is winter where I live, and while I'm actually prone to overheating, the last two weeks on 30BaD seem to have made m

THeSt0rm, you say there is no cure for your agoraphobia, but I am curious, what have you tried to do about it? I used to be agoraphobic. I was paranoid. I used to be afraid of just taking out the garbage, even in broad daylight. I used to hide in my house with the curtains shut. I used to hide behind a computer all day long. The only way for me to get over it was to shut off my computer a

I came across that post myself. I am all for having a positive body image, and loving yourself, but it didn't sit well with me either. Some people on the 30BaD site seem to have made it work for them, at least in the short-term, and I have encountered a couple of helpful, rational people there. The majority of the flock however seems to consist mainly of kids desperate to become beautiful or peop

I've yet to try any recipes myself, but I've seen plenty that use a base of macadamia nuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, or young coconut meat. I've even seen a recipe using avocado!

I've been curious about this myself. It seems that most raw recipes that include them are from older books, making me wonder if such information is outdated.

The reason I'm considering other options is because NOW on 80/10/10 - after trying the starches - I cannot ease my symptoms at all. They are getting worse now, not better, despite avoiding said starches and all fats. I had virtually no symptoms when I first started and stuck to the program, but as of eating starches I can no longer tolerate fruits. I would think this means that the fruit itself i

I am both excited and a little scared to start my water fast next week. As I've been having issues managing my candida symptoms and sluggish digestion, I have decided to try fasting to help give my system a break and hopefully put things back in balance. I am planning to take things easy, doing gentle yoga and resting as much as it feels necessary. I am also going to schedule a massage, which I d

Also, I meant to say that I am considering the Rainbow Green diet as a LAST resort. Would love to know if it can actually help to HEAL candida or just eases the symptoms, as the cooked candida diet seems to do. I literally had NO pain or discomfort in just three days on 80/10/10 - I really hope I can feel so good again.

The moods may sincerely be detox, as I used to have issues with anxiety and paranoia up until I was about twenty. However, it seems easy to dismiss pretty much anything as "detox", so by chance I am dealing with hypoglycemia what might you suggest I do? Also, why the hell might I be experiencing constipation on 80/10/10?

On a separate note, I am preparing for a water fast - my first, and I'm admittedly a little nervous about it! I can handle physical discomforts pretty well, but the emotional is another story. One of the things I'm doing, after nearly ten months of one restricted diet or another, is giving myself a week to eat whatever I like as long as it is raw and not blatantly bad for me (grains, beans, etc).

Thanks for your input, BlankPage. I've been trying to be more open-minded and have decided to put my ideals aside for the while. I am actually eating some oysters or sashimi about twice a week now, as it has really helped to stabilize my moods - the paranoia, especially - and am considering trying some raw goat's milk kefir to see if it may help speed up the healing the process. There are some ot

I recently switched over from a cooked vegan candida diet to a modified version of 80/10/10 (no overts, still consume salt & seaweeds). I spent a week focusing on fruits and greens, no cooked foods or starchy vegetables, and in just three days all of my candida symptoms were gone. I was floored - it takes at least three months following my old regimine to take away the chronic itching and pai

I haven't had much of a chance to try a variety of raw desserts, but I love my banana ice cream - just some vanilla bean or carob. Sometimes I top it with a fruit sauce, just blended mango. I would love to try it with pineapple or dates. I used to like the raw chocolate bars from Not Your Sugar Mama's, though I now think they use maple syrup in their recipe. Will still treat myself to their c

Ela, I love hearing about your continuing progress and raw adventures. I'm in the same boat with no overts. I enjoy being able to relate to the odd looks on shopping trips and of course your raw cuisine. I really admire how you've been able to infuse your diet with traditional influence -- the emotional ties are more conflicting than any smell or taste, and even the thought of cutting them is ter

I've had the idea brewing to start this for a couple of days now. I've been maintaining a fully raw diet for 17 days now. It's been very easy, especially with the freedom to eat my heart's desire in fruit. I do miss the overts, admittedly, but my longing for them is nowhere near the intensity of my cravings on my previous low-carb diet. True, I had the freedom to experiment with gourmet-t

Thank you, SueZ! It's been rather effortless, actually. I am very satisfied with the changes I have made, so much that I haven't even been keeping track of the days. I only got the number from flipping through my food journal! I do like the idea of a little flexibility in social situations, but aspire to fine-tune a sustainable raw diet I can enjoy in everyday life. I find that a little w

Coconutcreme, your pictures are KILLING ME! That cheesecake totally makes me wish I could have overts right now. Nevertheless, your enthusiasm and creativity is always very inspiring. I recently found your old blog and it has lent me some great inspiration as I venture the fruit route myself. I especially found amusement in the the stills from my island -- I have really been missing it lately.

Very delayed response (I don't have internet at my house and it takes alot to get me out of it during this New England winter!) I've never heard of RX birdfood -- I will definitely look into that. As to Kiwi's own dietary regimine, he sounds like a very lucky bird. I am so happy that he is loved and well-nourished. I think that sounds like a good balance -- fruits, vegetables, grains, and

I love all the photos here -- very different diets, but all inspirational. I've really been needing that lately. Just water and peppermint tea so far. I am preparing for a mono-diet, so for the next couple of days I will be enjoying green smoothies and mono-meals until the fridge is clean. Lots of oranges, bok choy, bell peppers. So far though, I'm looking forward to a pineapple-cilantro

Coconutcreme, your creations look delish! Damn, I wish I could figure out how to get the photos off my crummy old phone. Not the best quality, mind you, but I've made some pretty fantastic lettuce wraps this week.

Ah, I was responding to a post by Arugula, who inquired about a diagnosis. Symptoms are pretty much under control, I'm finding lately, if I stick to fruits, greens, and some steamed vegetables a couple nights a week.
