Hey guys. There were a lot of posters from this board who entered into my contest giving away copies of Raw Food Weight Loss And Vitality. I ended up giving away three copies, not two, to people who were ready to make some massive changes in their life. You can find out if you were a winner and read about the winners' plans here: I'm also giving away fast-action bonuses to people i

When you're in the cold water for hours at a time, working like crazy, some are tempted to think raw fruits and vegetables can't possibly supply the fuel they need. In response to a question sent in to Raw-Food-Health.net, raw food surfer Taylor Snipes explains that not only can he fuel himself up, but that his surfing has improved like never before while eating just raw fruits and vegetables

I've found that if you want to know if a food is really good for you there's one surefire way to find out: introduce it to a healthy, vital body at the top of its game and note how it reacts. Sound too simple? On the surface it sounds that way. I'm a big fan of science and spend a lot of time pouring over nutrition and health studies, but at the end of the day I'm looking at that data to t

Come down with skin rashes when you eat peanuts or a runny nose when the dandelions are spreading their seeds about? Most people are content to blame their genes, like they do with most health issues, but the truth is that what you eat -and what your mother ate while pregnant and breastfeeding you - plays a huge role in whether or not you'll develop allergies. If you've already got them, a

If you unquestionably accept the RDAs, RDIs, and other nutrient-intake guidelines set by this world’s medical organizations and government agencies, you’re going to be one confused raw foodist. Raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds are the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet, right? So when we enter our diets into nutrient-tracker websites and software like cronometer, why do we some

I spent the early part of my life depressed, but today I'd consider myself a very happy person. It's not that I never get thrown for any emotional loops, but rather that I always quickly return to a baseline of happiness that's higher now than it was when I was eating a low fat cooked vegan diet or the several variations of SAD I once consumed. Life just seems more full of possibilities now, a

Those wormy blue bulges on the legs of so many people - varicose veins - have to be among the weirdest looking of the common diseases. Twenty-five percent of the US population puts up with them disfiguring their bodies to some degree, and outside of aesthetic considerations, many of the more severe cases cause pain, itching, and other problems. But is this really necessary, or is this just

Raw kombucha tea, a fermented beverage with tons of health claims attached to it, is becoming popular among some raw foodists, with recipes and brewing directions appearing on many raw food blogs. I've recently been getting a lot of questions about the drink, and decided to spend some time seeing if there was any research backing up the claims. What surprised me wasn't the lack of evidence

I ate 1.5 to 2 heads of greens, but they went on the plates first and then I piled fruit, cucumbers, and squash on top.

Ever hear someone who grew up in the 1930s or 40s wax poetic about the good old days? Almost a decade ago I heard one of my grandfather's friends, a woman in her 80s, talking about how much better bananas used to be - sweeter, big, creamier - but little did I know that she wasn't romanticizing the past. She grew up in the era of Big Mike, or Gros Michel, a devastated cultivar of banana wipe

You should definitely work on ways to get cheaper produce: Shopping smart raw is an acquired skill. Most people don't eat in a way that requires lots of produce, raw foodists do, so it makes sense to learn.

How much salad do you guys eat? Have you ever considered eat more....a lot more? I've found my athletic performance and general energy levels are never good when I fail to get my big meals of greens in. So how much is a big meal of greens? I find that I feel my best when I'm eating 3-6 percent of my calories from greens. Can you visualize that? Depending on caloric needs, that's prob

I never imagined bowel movements would be such a telling testament to our body's health. As part of the colitis I suffered with for many years, from the time I was in my early teens up until my early 20s, I was more or less always constipated. Things got worse the older I got. Statistically speaking, less than half of us have ideal bowel movements, and laxatives are a billion dollar i

What are you doing the create an abundant raw food future for you, your family, and the world? It's easy to be raw yourself if you're devoted, but it takes connections, and solid bridge institutions in the physical world, to get society as a whole to start changing. Tired of being in the the less-than-ideal present? It'll never get better if we don't start changing things. I'm a writer b

Ever since studies started showing us it's not smart to eat processed foods made with high fructose corn syrup about a decade ago, people have been trying hard to throw the baby out with the bathwater. If you listen to some fruit fearing raw foodists and paleo eaters, the natural fructose in whole foods is fattening and dangerous. But is there any science to back this up? Get the

I'm a big fan of spiralizing squash to make pasta-style raw recipes. I often eat zucchini, yellow squash, and my personal favorite, kabocha. I'm curious to know if you use any more unusual raw summer or winter squashes raw, and what recipes do you use them in? Any squash-based raw soups?

For all the good stuff you hear about tomatoes and other nightshade vegetables, you also hear a lot of bad stuff. Do they cause arthritis and inflammation? How come so many people allergic to them, and why are we eating from a group of plants nicknamed the, "deadly nightshades"? I take a look at them here:

What if onions had to have their own vocalized warning label, like the ridiculous voiceovers that follow drug commercials? What would that friendly, disembodied voice tell us about the famous bulbous perennial? Looking at the science, you'd probably have to generate a warning that included the following: Do not take onions if you're pregnant (due to risk of miscarriage) nursing (becaus

Can You Really Ripen A Tasty Olive Without Salt, Fermentation, Water, Or Other Curing Methods? I've always believed the answer was no. I've even talked to a olive specialist at the University of California and several olive growers - they all say no, you need some type of curing to be able to have a nonbitter, palatable olive. Anyone who thinks there's good reason to keep salt out of th
