FUNNY COMMENTS & QUESTIONS BY NON-VEGANS ABOUT MY RAW VEGAN DIET I wanted to add a little something more today. With this weekend's social activities, I got a lot of funny questions and comments about being on a raw food diet. I never thought I'd ever in a million years give up my SAD lifestyle (LOVED MMMMEAT!), so I can understand where some of the questions and comments... However,

Hi Trive, Thank you for reading and for your words of encouragement!!! Here's the latest: DAY 25 - Half Baked = Half Alive I ate probably about 50% cooked foods on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and I'm feeling about 50% lower energy too. :-\ Yes, I am beginning to see the correlation. Brian and I went to Denver on Saturday for a friend's birthday party. They were serving slopp

DAY TWO - Detox and Withdrawal I’m through one full day on a vegan and mostly raw food diet and onto Day Two. Last night I had lightly cooked portobello mushrooms and steamed green beans with my dinner, and that’s the only cooked food I’ve had so far. Mornings have been the easiest to get through. I’m still having coffee, but sweetening it with honey or agave nectar and coconut milk

Hello Everyone, I found this forum just shortly after starting on a 90% raw food diet. I've been journalling the journey so far on FaceBook, but decided to post it here too. I hope that newcomers such as myself find the accounts of my raw vegan journey inspiring and informative. A little background... I'm a 38 year-old working mom and formerly avid runner living the "health nut"

Faeterri, I'm thinking the painful past isn't so much an issue, or if it was, it is gone now! Day 13 AND FEELING GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm even having a little trouble falling asleep and staying asleep at night, but during the day and into the evening I have what I would consider MUCH more energy than I've had in years. My overall mood and mental alertness have been great

Faeterri, That's a very good question. All of this started coincidentally started a few years into a relationship that started out very wonderfully in 2003 but slowly began to sour. Nonetheless, when things were going well and we were getting along, it was a fairy tale romance beyond my wildest dreams. But when it was bad, it was really bad. (Extreme highs and lows, not unlike drug A

P.S. I have a cr@ppy dime store blender, nor do I have a food dehydrator or juicer. I will have to buy those cool tools one at a time, when I can afford to. But I decided to GO FOR IT NOW anyhow. Why wait? Fresh delicious raw food is already available at the grocery store just waiting for me to take it home and gobble it up. And gobble some more. And more.

Jasmine, It sounds like you've been through hell and back with food and health issues. I'm very fortunate that I've never been more than 15 pounds overweight. I've always been very active and fit up until the last few years when I got hit with FMS and CFS. The fatigue is so bad now that it's time for "drastic" measures. I am a mom among many things, and although I am not going

Hi Everyone! It seems that adding some soaked almonds and pecans to my smoothies has really helped a lot. Last night I made a smoothie out of banana, mango, young coconut, and some soaked almonds and pecans that was very satisfying. BTW, it was a happy accident that this smoothie tasted A LOT like cheesecake! I posted it over on the Recipes forum. It was incredibly delicious and very fill

Hi Everyone, I've been tested for pretty much everything... Epstein-Barr, Lyme disease, many autoimmune diseases, vitamin/mineral deficiencies, etc. Nothing. My doc just kinda shrugged it off and slapped the "idiopathic" CFS and Fibromyalgia labels on me. Of note I was diagnosed with severe hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 2001 (my TSH was in the high 80's and life w

Hi BW, Yes, I have given the blood sugar issue some thought. I am not fond of the idea of giving up coffee, but eventually that's probably what will happen. Since I started on raw foods, I'm finding that I just have no desire to drink as much as I used to. I had bad problems with insulin-reactive hypoglycemia, especially after the first meal of the day. I could not eat carbs (except bana

Hi Everyone, I'm a raw vegan newbie - it's only Day 5! In spite of eating mass quantities of raw foods, I'm hungry so annoyingly *often*! So tonight I decided to try making a dessert-like smoothie that would be filling and satisfying. Here's the ingredients I used: About 8 - 10 raw, pre-soaked almonds About 8 - 10 raw, pre-soaked pecans flesh of one young coconut 1 cup almond milk

Hi Frances, Ok, my smoothies are not as big as yours - I don't think my blender could hold that much! Usually I throw in one banana, some coconut milk or young coconut flesh (with coconut water), a cup of aloe vera juice (whole leaf & raw), 6 or 7 frozen strawberries, a handful of fresh blueberries or other berry, an apple, a scoop of hemp protein powder, a fistful of spinach, a leaf of r

Hi again everyone, One of the reasons I decided to adopt a diet of living foods is an ongoing and ever-worsening battle with chronic fatigue. In my early thirties, I had tons of energy and I was very fit - I ran 10ks on a regular basis, a few half marathons, and even a marathon. It's been a gradual but steady decline over the last few years, to the point where I barely have enough energy jus

Hi Everyone, and thanks for your responses. I'm pretty sure I'm getting plenty of nutrition, simply due to the mass quantities of raw food I'm eating. (LOL) Mislu, I live in Colorado and it's cold but very dry here. I almost always have a 32 oz water bottle within reach and empty it about every 4 hours or so. I still have some coffee in the morning (down to just one cup now), and I th

Hi Everyone, I'm on Day 4, 90% raw vegan, formerly on a mostly healthy but still SAD. So far, my mostly raw vegan diet consists of a huge green & superfood smoothie every morning, snacks of fresh fruit and/or 10 - 15 soaked nuts like almonds, cashews and sunflower seeds, and then I have a HUGE mixed salad for dinner, usually with sprouts, a little bit of nuts or seeds, avocado and a drizz

Thank you Audrey - this really inspires me!!!!!! I am 38 years old - in a year I hope to say that I am 39 years young. I have chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia and some other lesser complaints, but the fatigue is so miserable now that I am not only finally ready to give up my favorite cooked foods, but I am GLADLY giving them up. Doctors and conventional medicine have been nothing short of a
