I am also a heavy bleeder, but the bleeding is not as much of a problem as my horrible back pain. I'm just curious, RaeVynn, why should I stay out of hot water? When my pain gets so bad that nothing helps (and I mean NOTHING. I have tried everything, yoga positions, pain killers, etc.), usually hot water does the trick to relax my muscles. I dunno if this is an option for you, Juliel, but m

Thanks for your help everyone! I absolutely adore fruit, so I guess I'll be relying on fruit as my doorway into eating better this year. I ate a pineapple for breakfast this morning and it was heavenly. It's summer down here in Argentina so there is TONS of yummy fruit available. Next semester when I am trudging up the hill in the snow to class, I'm sure a backpack full of fruit for the d

ok. Are lighter greens like romaine and lettuce okay to start with? I try to eat dark stuff like spinach and kale, but to be honest I don't like the taste and it makes me feel nauseous. I love fruit and all sweet things, so that's all good, but I have a hard time eating a lot of greens. I take wheatgrass shots when I get the chance, but they make me feel sick, too. Should I just force myself

I'm mostly writing because I don't want to seem like some kind of creepy lurker person. I mostly come to the board to read all the wonderful, inspiring, supportive stuff on here, and to get some information about raw food. At this point I eat about 50% raw, and I certainly don't go around calling myself a raw foodist or anything. I know that this is the healthiest way to eat, and I keep on try

I guess I've always had problems getting to sleep (sometimes I seem too wound up, and sometimes this is due to an empty stomach, which is too uncomfortable to fall asleep with), but not all that often. Once a month at least, and once a week at most. Not the worst problem in the universe. Melatonin helps a little, but the next day I'm kind of groggy, which I don't like. Thanks, Tamukha, star

I would much rather not eat at night, but sometimes I literally cannot fall asleep without having a little something. Whether it's real hunger or not, it keeps me awake, and waiting till 4 or 5 am (like last night) to fall asleep doesn't help me do all the things I need to do the following day. I hope to be able to train myself out of this, but until then I need to get some sleep!

Thanks everyone.. I guess juicy fruit/ juice is a good consensus! Tamukha, I would, except I'm trying to take off some weight. I know it's ideal, especially for weight loss, not to eat anything 3 hours before bedtime, but it doesn't help me much if I wind up not being able to sleep till 4 am, with a busy day ahead of me.

Hi, I get hungry frequently, and sometimes it'll be time for bed but I can't fall asleep because I'm hungry! Maybe it doesn't have to be a lot of food, but enough to fill me up enough so I can fall asleep. What are the healthiest choices? I know eating before bed is bad but sometimes I have to choose between not sleeping at all and eating something late at night. suggestions? also: I'd ide

There's this smoothie I like, bananas, coconut butter, lecithin (for nutrition and to make the smoothie super smooth), agave (or honey or dates), and water or coconut water. It's got like a million calories, it's pretty easy to digest, and it's delicious!

I know, I know. I have driven across the country 6 times now and I am a very safe driver. It's just that, without some form of caffeine, I tend to get drowsy even if I've had a good night's sleep. I can't do the drive with anyone this time, and I made it with no problem in May when I drove to San Francisco from the east in 3 days (I was very proud of myself.) Mountain Dew soda worked really w

Yes, I certainly plan to get decent sleep when I'm driving, but sometimes I get sleepy in the morning and I don't want to have to pull over and nap because it loses time! Being in the car has always made me sort of sleepy. As for school, sometimes staying up all night is just unavoidable! However, in these cases I'm usually kind of full of giddy energy anyway and can at least make it to afte

Well, my concern isn't so much with energy with the car trip as it is with sleepiness. I can feel energetic and everything, but if I can't keep my eyes open, driving is dangerous!

Hi everyone (it's been a while since I posted here). I'm a grad student and sometimes have to pull long hours awake in studio or working on a design project. I actually don't like coffee anyway, so in the past have only drank it when I really had to in order to stay awake. I'm also in San Francisco right now, and will be driving back to Ithaca in August. When I drove out here for the summer I

Swimming burns a LOT of calories. I'm pretty sure that's all it is. Water wicks away your body heat, and sometimes I don't know how hard I'm working out till I get out of the water. I definately love how my skin feels when I've been in the salt water, but I don't think being in the pool or whatever for only an hour would unbalance skin cells.

Well, I'm going to school in Ithaca, NY now so it's pretty cold and snowy. In the fall and summer I like to swim in the beautiful rivers and falls we have around here, but now it's the pool for me. I don't mind the pool though, I always loved swimming as a kid and I associate the chlorine smell with happiness, though I definately prefer lakes, rivers, and the sea if it's an option.

Does anybody out there love to swim? I do! i swim a lot, like a mile or a mile and a half every day or every other day. I am always starving when I get out of the water, so what should I eat to counteract this? protein or starch? Any other thoughts on swimming are welcome!

I did the Master Cleanse, and I loved it! It's hard on your system (esp. if you want to do the salt thingy.. yow.) but I felt really good afterwards, and my skin looked wonderful (though my skin is pretty good anyway). I lost my hunger in the first 2 days, it wasn't hard because I had to study a lot that week anyway and didn't have a lot of other stuff to do. the problems I had when I was on i

Hi Folks! I am new to this forum, and I am edging towards raw (eating healthy vegetarian food with an increasing amount of raw fruits and vegetables and nuts and things until I find what makes me feel the best). I'm on winter break now, but when I'm in school we are usually in the studio ALL the time, and it's hard to get it together to have good food choices, let alone raw. What are your favo
