blank, I had terrible constipation before raw. It was mainly due to having Celiac Disease (which I found out about 8 years later, about 2 years ago). After changing my diet to raw vegan, I had terrible diarrhea in the beginning. The one day, I went 11 times. I counted. I was very sore. Maybe because you are transitioning, this is a phase. You could use Psyllium Husk (Don't think it's raw). You

M91, Sorry to hear about your troubles. I had similar issues. It was Candida that led me to raw veganism and then when my hair started breaking off when I moved my head, I realized I couldn't do 100% raw vegan with no supplementation. I put back some vegan cooked food and added vitamins and minerals. When I did that, my hair stopped breaking off. The Candida didn't completely go away until I c

Has anyone found a beneficial vegan form of this outside of eating Japanese Yams? Has it been effective for you? I met a women selling Biocell but it isn't vegan. There were photos of some tremendous transformations from everything to saggy skin, cellulite, and rheumatoid arthritis. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi LaV, I stopped eating mushrooms when I became raw vegan because I heard they can cause cancer. Then, I incorporated them back after hearing Dr. Joel Fuhrma said they heal or prevent cancer, especially breast cancer, if eaten cooked. Yes, they are a great source of Vitamin D, another reason why he promotes them. I only eat them cooked now. Sorry that's not the answer you were looking for. Th

Thanks Mislu. Appreciate your advice. Will look into it. I was drinking Stinging Nettle tea but I think my condition it too extreme for it. The Celiac Disease damage still hasn't healed. Where did you move to that the location is not vegan friendly? We don't have many vegetarian restaurants here in Northeast Ohio and they aren't gluten-free. Was also curious about your purslane. I've never got

I've eaten seeds out of melons, apples, peaches, apricots, pears, pumpkins, acorn squash etc. and it was fine. I prefer to dry the squash seeds before eating them, though. I also prefer to eat the larger seeds like a snack versus apple seeds with the apple.

I eat some cooked vegan, especially beans and brown rice. (The two make a complete protein.) My body was falling apart on all raw vegan and no supplementation. I now supplment with gluten-free Nutritional Yeast, seaweed, chia seeds, and iron (I'm anemic). If I don't take the nutritional yeast, my skin starts hardening and cracking. If I don't take the seaweed, I'm cold all the time as seaweed

SJ, I was not taking any drugs during the dental procedures. I haven't taken any aspirin, acetaminophen, prescription, or non-prescription drugs since going raw. The Candida was purely caused by the dental procedures and the related shots given.

Celiac Disease was what primarily caused my Candida. Most of the studies don't address that issue. The secondary was prescription medications and the chemicals in shots. I had healed my body and then had to have dental work and with all the novacaine they gave me (three rounds of injections for dental caries and a root canal), it came back with a vengeance. I'm still on the mend and that was m

When I first went vegan, I had a nightmare about biting into a chicken leg. (Fried chicken used to be my favorite when I was losing my baby teeth.) My heart was pounding and I was so disappointed in myself. Then, I woke up and was super relieved it was only a dream. I got a sliver of chicken, I think, that fell into the veggies at a Chinese buffet, I didn't know it until it was in my mouth. It

Good to know la_v. Once in a store I saw a slug-like bug eating the kale and pointed it out to the produce manager. He took it back and told me that is why you should always wash your produce. Never knew that kale could have aphids. I have had terrible aphids on Cilantro when I tried to grow it. I have Lacinto Kale growing in a medium rectangular pot on my patio. All the bottom leaves are gone

Thanks for everyone's posts. I forgot that I posted. I did find value in everyone's comments. swimmer, No apology necessary. I'm sorry to hear about your extreme sensitivity to all nuts. I'm still trying to figure out what I can eat that will give me sufficient nutrients and keep me trim. I don't do well with hemp seeds due to the smell. I have bad anemia so I really have to supplement wit

Just an FYI for those of you who don't know this. Since discovering I have Celiac's Disease, I use paper toweling on a communal keyboard if I'm eating while at the computer. Otherwise, there is a transferrence of gluten to my fingers and I ingest it and all the symptoms pop up soon afterwards. I also found that even if something doesn't state the item is made in a factory that has wheat, on

Dr. Hulda Clark was driven from the US for curing people. One cannot go against Big Pharma, the FDA, and the Medical Association without reprecussions. Looks like Dr. Robert Young went beyond his scope, even though his intentions were to help people. Dr. Joel Fuhrman is able to continue to practice because he has his MD, uses reduced prescriptions in his curative practice, and only alludes to

Hi DRV, In Dr. Joel Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" book, his case studies indicate that he gradually weaned patiets off of medication. He didn't typically make them quite cold turkey. I'm not sure what your diet consists of as you don't indicate. I know from personal experience, I experienced Rheumatoid Arthritis symptoms a couple of years ago even though I wasn't eating any pork or animal

I usually don't get bitten unless I'm in a very dense mosquito population. There's no way to ward them off without harmful chemicals and I don't want to put those on. I do have to be careful of fruit flies trying to fly into my mouth or biting me, though. Therese

Welcome Siav, Have you considered sprouting or container gardening? It's getting to the end of growing season here in Ohio but I plan on bringing in some of my delicate perennials plants. They won't bear fruit but if I keep them warm, I will have them for next year. I did this with my Jalapeno plant and peppermint. My Jalapeno plant is about 3 years old. The peppermint is 2 years old. I used to live in Phoenix. It was normal to see dates on a palm tree provided it was a date palm. It's like seeing grapes on a vine. That's how dates grow but off a tree instead of a plant. That's great that you got to purchase them off the branch. Hope they taste delicious.

Hi Mislu, Congrats on making it this far. I agree with banana who regarding the question on why you want to be vegan. I did it for my health. Others do it for animal rights reasons, etc. If I hadn't have had to do it for my health, I would still be eating Gung Pao Beef, Fried Chicken, authentic Pizza, Croisants, etc. I remember when I first went vegan, I dreamed that I ate Fried Chicken whe

I usually buy my avocados unripened so that I can control the timing a bit better regarding when I have to eat them. The ones available here in OH mostly are Haas and come from Mexico. I don't care for the Florida ones as they are huge and watery. The color does vary from a medium to dark green to sometimes a reddish hue. I don't buy ones that look light green. I look for any exterior blemishe

That's interesting la_v. I wear an energy pendant but haven't thought much about crystal energy. I know I went to a energy group one time and the leader had a crystal and stated it was good for grounding. She passed around a magnet and the stone. I held the stone first and then passed it on. Then I held the magnet. The magnet was so strong that it sucked the energy right out of me. I asked fo

LRV, I eat from grocery stores, too, unless I'm lucky enough to find anything ripe or growing in my container garden. I'm guessing that many of us eat from grocery stores. I live in an apartment and have a small patio outside. I have my plants in pots. I have dandelion, common plaintain, tomatoes, basil, thyme, rosemary, peppers, a grape vine which I use for leaves, and a few small trees. I us

Sorry, Mislu. Ooops! Thanks for the clarification. For men, Dr. Fuhrman says 105 lbs for 5 feet and then add 5 lbs for every inch thereafter. Dr. Fuhman is 5' 10", 150 lbs, and his BMI is 21.5 with a 30.5" waist (measured at the navel) as revealed in his "Eat to Live" book. Dr. Fuhrman states that men should not be able to pinch more than 1/2" at their belly button.

I tried wheatgrass one time before I knew I had Celiac's disease and I felt like a bomb went off inside of me. Not sure that was a healthy reaction. Whenever I've drunk or eaten anything that was charged with life, I felt energized and positive. The reaction with wheat grass was uncomfortable like someone stuck a plunger down my throat. Maybe, it was just me. After discovering I have Celiac's,

Hi Mislu, I think that is great that you encouraged your partner to do what he might enjoy. It is quite revealing that he chose not to go. I was reading Dr. Fuhrman's book and he states that in general the weight tables are not correct. He stated 95 lbs for a female at 5 feet and add 4 pounds per inch over. I know many of us are near or under that. He states a good rule of thumb is that a woma

Mislu, Thanks for sharing your experience. I'm always tweaking my diet. I've had to do it again just within the last couple of days. I've been having terrible stomach pain for the past week or so. It was so bad two nights ago that I couldn't get to sleep easily. I had to put energy pendants on my abdominal area to calm it so I could sleep. I think I've been eating too many raw peanuts and c

Hi Mislu, If your partner wants to change his diet because he feels he will be better, may be you can accept his decision. You don't have to change your diet with him. If it's just the anemia, he can supplement with Iron in veggie caps. I buy the Solgar brand. I'm anemic, too. I know that eating animal products will not make me less anemic, however. I was anemia as a meat eater, too. I just didn'

Hi Mislu, I stopped eating mushrooms in my early days of raw because I read where they cause cancer. Then, I met a woman whose breast cancer was cured due to mushrooms. I still stayed away from it since it didn't have a seed and was a fungus. I have re-incorporated cooked mushrooms in my diet due to Dr. Joel Fuhrman's studies.
