I'm not a fan of 'neat' wheat grass juice. It makes me gag, too. I make my wheat grass juice in my k-tec blender. It's diluted with a little water, and then I add lemon juice. Lemon juice is the key. It tastes fine, I get the buzz without gagging, and I didn't have to buy a wheat grass juicer.

I agree with rawangel. Have on hand wonderful raw sweet treats and just indulge. The raw goodies taste soooo much better than cooked stuff, they are so much more satisfying. And you can eat them to your heart's content without damage. I tend to fall off the raw wagon (a lot!) and what helps me get back on is to make raw versions of the non-raw food I tend to eat. Some of it's pretty heavy

I'd advise Dr. Schulze's liver cleanse. He advises --and I strongly agree -- that the first step to cleansing the liver is cleansing the colon. I don't like his colon cleanse because it has psyllium, but his herbs are generally much better quality than the other commercial stuff out there. He tests for potency and recommends much higher dosages. I think as a herbalist he knows his stuff.

BTW, according to my friend the AMA criteria for diabetes has changed in recent years. What used to be normal they're now calling diabetic. According to his doctor, the AMA is doing this to support the drug companies so they can prescribe more meds for those who used to be called normal. Nice, eh?

I have two friends, both diabetic and on meds, who recently went raw. Before raw, even with meds, their blood sugar was quite high. Within a few days on raw their blood sugar was normal. They got inspired by a meal I made for them. Consisted of two kinds of salad, seed cheese, crackers green smoothie, and a sweet heavy cheesecake for dessert. A couple of days later, the husband called me

This is the best parasite cleanse I ever tried or heard of: You also need to get the colon cleanse product: Don't be put off by the fact that it's a multi-level company, or how the products are described. They work. You'll need to do the cleanse a couple of months to get all the critters out of the tissues. I don't think the other products are worth it, but Experience and Clear do the j

The DVD - actually 2 DVDs IIRC - consists of Alissa in her kitchen preparing raw food for two ladies. It's nice because Alissa shows how easy it is to whip up yummy stuff, and it's also entertaining to watch the ladies devour bucketloads of food all the while saying, "Oh my God! Oh my GAAAWWWWWDDD!" and making yummy noises. I have no idea how they managed to eat that much, but they were

Dear Prem - BE CAREFUL!!! The diarrhea that comes from Delhi Belly can dehydrate you PDQ, and coffee also dehydrates. In fact, when you hear of people dying of dysentary, that's what does it - the dehydration. Please be careful, keep hydrated, and see a doctor if you don't get better really soon.

re: Hanna Somatics, I wish I could find a practitioner near me.

Hanna somatics. (NOT somatics.com) A good practitioner can help you in 1-2 treatments. They'll give you a 10-15 minute movement routine, very easy to do, that will re-education the mind/body musculature. Totally effective and very worth going out of your way to find a good practitioner.

Ah, I remember it well. Delhi belly. Feels like being kicked in the gut by a mule, doesn't it? I agree with maui_butterfly - get thee to an ayurvedic physician. They will have things there to help. Hopefully. When you get back home, the best parasite cleanse I've ever used is from Awareness herbs - it's called 'clear'. Google it to find a distributor.

I never get sick when I'm raw. I haven't had much success at staying raw lately, but the times I have been raw, no sickness, no flu, no colds. Ever.

I agree with all that has been said here. In addition, when she harps on how you will become weak, etc., why not ask her if people said that to her when she became a vegetarian. It may wake her up a bit. But I agree it's no use trying to convince or change anyone - including trying to get your MIL to stop her lectures. I may help if you just let go of wanting to be right. Let her be right

maui_butterfly, Thank you for that website, it made my day. The article at the top "Jazz Singer Reveals Sex Life with Aliens" in which the Jazz singer chastises the NY Post for having the nerve to imply that her book about her alien sexual encounters would be 'sensationalistic' - priceless. All this is not off-topic, because 1) it's nuts; and 2) laughter is good for your health.

Maui_butterfly, (I love your name) Curing the oil makes it much nicer for massage, too. It becomes silky and thinner. Uncured raw sesame oil makes a sticky gunky mess. The cured stuff is wonderful.

Hi, The interview is located here: It will be available for download for 2 weeks. It is a half hour interview I did with "D", in which she describes what she did, what she went through, etc. When she was diagnosed with cancer, she weighed 80 pounds and was in severe pain. Her ovarian cancer has spread to her hip and breast. She embarked on the Incurables program, staying on

By the way I agree with Suvine about the roey rubbery stuff that's supposed to come out of you. The pill and cleanse pushers talk about 'mucoid plaque' that is supposed to line the colon and that their cleanses will remove. Some sites claim that as much as 30 pounds of the stuff is lining the colon, reducing the channel to a mere pencil width and impeding digestive absorption. Well, I have a

I've done those psyllium cleanses and OMG they are so yucky. It's exactly like swallowing concrete and completely stops any digestive movement. Horrible. I will never do one of those again. Some years ago I came across a really good parasite cleanse from a company called Awareness Herbs. I just googled it and came up with this; www.awarenesslife.com Their cleanse consists of two herbal for

I've had good results with Waiora's Natural Cellular Defense Zeolite. I became a distributor so I could get it for less $$ but don't actively sell it. You can get it on eBay for the best prices -- just make sure you get the Waiora brand. Natural zeolite is a mineral with a cage-like molecular structure that captures heavy metals. In its natural state it has some heavy metals in it. Waiora has

Oil pulling is an Ayurvedic practice. Ayurveda recommends curing sesame and olive oils before using them. Boiling it makes it less sticky. The viscosity and heaviness is gone from the oil and it's able to penetrate the tissues better. You just have to do it once and then the oil is 'cured', To cure the oil, place it in a pot and sprinkle 1-2 drops of water in it. Turn the heat on medium. Stand

I'm so very sorry, Sandy. This must be so hard for your whole family. I know someone who cured herself of ovarian cancer that had spread to the breast and hip bone by adhering strictly to Dr. Schulze's Incurables Program. That program is a full time job for the person doing it and almost a full time job for a helper. I have an MP3 file of a half-hour interview during which she describes what s

I love it. If I wake up congested or achy, 20 minutes of oil pulling gets rid of it. I use cured sesame oil (sesame oil I've heated to the boiling point of water, once, and then cooled).

I also ordered from www.flnaturalcitrus.com and had the same great experience you did - super nice fellow, quick service. And you are in for a treat because the oranges are simply delicious. Completely organic and what's even better, they are tree-ripened. Anyhow, I don't know how many pounds to 3/4 bushel but the oranges fit in the two bottom drawers of my older refrigerator. I ordered half

I've done a lot of fasting in my life - on fresh juices, on water, and on combinations of the above. I first read about the Master Cleanse about 12 years ago and had complete disdain for it. I thought it was ridiculous - just a sugary lemonade, really unhealthy and about the worst fast you could do. Not giving the real rest of a water fast or the nutrition plus rest of a juice fast. Well,

To add to all the good advice and information... What helps me is to plan ahead and have treats readily available that approximate the cooked snack. In your example, instead of eating bread with cashew butter, have raw bread and raw cashew butter or pate on hand and your problem will be solved.

I agree with all the advice given so far. I love David's advice, as usual. I worked with a dietitian a few years ago. She had me start by writing down everything I ate for a week without making any changes to my diet at all. At the end of the week, she figured out the nutritional makeup, and also offered suggestions for healthier substitutions. I find that approach helpful with changing to

I've read about it for years, have friends who swear by it, and I've never gotten over the ick factor enough to try it. I also get up to pee a couple of times at night so I can't figure out which pee is the first one in the morning. But that's irrelevent. The ick factor does it for me.

Joanna, If you search this forum you will find this subject has come up a lot and it is a common experience. I had a long bout with it the first time I went raw. At that time, I saw a naturopath who said it happens often when the artificial stimulants (i.e. poisons) are taken out of the diet; then you can feel the fatigue that was always there, there's nothing to mask the fatigue any more. I
