My exeperience on a varied diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables was great - stable energy, tastebuds changed, and my previously chronic headaches only came around my cycle. I felt very content until I had to give up fruit again (and do have to cut it out entirely for the first month or so). My problems actually have less to do with the yeast itself right now - I've got an arsenal of probiotics

Does he eat the sweet potato raw? Cecilia loves it, but always steamed. We're not shy about nuts with her either, as she could stand to put on weight. I do want to mix things up with some raw veggies in there too, though. I am not home with her (she lives with my mother) but even she sees the difference which I think should be enough motivation to follow my guidelines now. I am so happy for h

Should note to others, I feel more comfortable discussing these matters here with some healthy conflict rather than have "you need meat!" shoved down my throat on a paleo forum or the like. I can't stand the aggression or bacon-obsession.

Appreciate the feedback, Tai. I am doing some herbs, spices, coconut with anti-fungal properties... It's more so the fact that my overall health felt compromised with my already stated dietary ventures. My hydrocolon therapist is actually familiar with raw foods, by the way - she was at HHI in the 90's and still has their newsletter in her office! Since then, however, she seems to be following a

On another note, I am especially surprised about the advocation of dairy - raw dairy seems to have some restorative benefits, but isn't it still acidic? I'd imagine it being problematic for most, at least when consumed regularly.

Maybe this is just triggering for me, but be careful about being too restrictive or obsessive about what you eat. It is great to develope conscious eating habits but you do not want to develope an eating disorder. There are so many things more important in life than thinness or appearance

Gorgeous pictures, everyone! Especially those cookies, Kiwibird, they sound amazing. Kiwi looks great as always, too My Cecilia has been on a mostly raw diet (some pellets still) for nor even 2 weeks now and seems to be growing back some feathers again! We've been giving her a mix of nuts and fruit and she is starting to look herself again

Not looking for approval of an omnivorous diet, really. I guess I'm just venting. It's like I don't know what to do anymore

I am honestly feeling confusion about this as well. I was feeling great on a varied high-raw diet until my candida flared again. I feel my best on a whole food, plant-based diet (something along Jameth Sheridan's guidelines, minus grains) but without fruit or legumes my energy levels and digestion are totally compromised. I did a slightly modified version of Cousen's low-glycemic plan and it was

Congrats Kiwibird, and have fun with your new dehydrator! I love mine, though don't use it terribly often. I use mine primarily for crackers and sprouted buckwheat granola -- especially great on the occasion that I have "carby" cravings.

I have yet to be convinced that vaccines are the sole cause of autism, at least. I've been a little out of the loop for the past few years (diagnosed with ASD at 17) but there seems to be a variety of factors and aggrivators. Just sayin'.

I was going to make a raw cake for my birthday, but after a rather stressful weekend have pretty much lost my appetite. All I could get down today is juice, pasturized juice at that (I had a craving for mango and the fresh ones around here are no good right now). Have been off the wagon a bit lately, but it is not in all a bad thing, if at all. I found amusement in how my tastes have changed and

I try not to overthink such things, personally. Not that I'm one to bury my head in the sand, but I don't think it's healthy to obsess so much over food. I know that I don't feel good when I'm not getting enough carbohydrates and the ones that agree with my body most come from fruit. Under normal circumstances, I find that, for me, fruit does the body good. I am more energetic, and happy, and reg

Again, thanks for the tips on mature coconuts. Will surely be having fun with those while I'm back on high-fat. As for the young, the coconut naan sounds amazing!

It's not a lack of will power for me - I followed the standard candida diet religiously for 8 months, the only setbacks being trigger by trying to reintroduce foods that proved to be problematic. I question the validity of the diet because even though it SO SLOWLY subdued my candida symptoms, it made me feel downright ill on every other level. I became so weak and underweight that I lost my menst

I was wondering if I could make a good cream/milk from the meat of a young thai coconut? Mature coconuts seem to be the first choice, but I've had difficulty finding unspoiled ones. I was especially hoping to use a good cream for raw curry, an old favorite food of mine. Thanks!

I have a hard time finding a good one - the last three out of four were all moldy on the inside. Is there a secret to finding a good coconut?

So I have a question, CoconutCreme. I have been trying to find a way to nourish my body while trying to relieve it of candida overgrowth. I did a bit better on 80/10/10, but after some poor food choices in January I can no longer tolerate the sugar. My system is now in complete disorder. I am now considering trying colonics and Gabriel Cousen's diet, but know that I feel like absolute hell on

This is hard, but my current favorites seem to be: Pineapple Cucumbers - I have been making lots of cucumber noodles lately. So refreshing. If we're being technical about vegetables, though, I'd have to go for Cauliflower Macadamia Nuts - Used to be Brazils, but I haven't been able to find good ones lately

I would imagine that a raw diet could attract all kinds of people, and that certain individuals would be more likely than others to adopt a "greater-than-thou" attitude once they reach new physical or mental highs. Some may find themselves more grounded, but not everyone. Take yoga, for example. Some of the studios I've been to have a downright toxic evironment

I tried it when I was still eating more cooked - and occasionally processed- vegan foods. It was the best faux-meat I've tried so far, but as far as splurges go I still prefer tempeh, tofu, or seitan. I think it's good to be flexible, especially socially. We don't have any raw food restaurants here, but we do have alot of great vegan options and I am definitely not going to settle for a pesticide

I'm working on this! I enjoy going for long walks almost every day, but am also trying to drop in on more yoga classes and cardio/strength classes at the YMCA here. I guess I've yet to find something that I really like, but one of the staff told me that the more you exercise, the more you'll crave it, so in time I 'spose.

I had issues with greens after eating grains, a definite no-no with candida. Then again, for a few months following, I could barely digest ANYTHING so I doubt the greens themselves were the problem. I personally like greens, in smoothies or a big salad. Have to learn to chew them better, though.

I have really been meaning to look into a landline - I really only NEED my cell phone for emergencies. Of course, people are so used to texting now. Maybe an ear piece would be more practical, after all, and definitely more affordable.

Extended vacation - I'm going to give a general raw diet a go, avoiding what doesn't work and trying to find a balance with what does. I ideally want to keep things simple, but want to keep things fun, so maybe a gourmet recipe once a week or every other week. Generally, though, I want to practice good food combining. Am still reading about fasting and mono-dieting, left a message with my ND.

Not a recipe, but I love to toss my raw noodles with cherry tomatoes, pulsed to a salsa consistency, fresh basil, a pinch of salt, and an avocado. Sometimes a bit of minced garlic, too, sometimes not. Honestly, I am on the search for the same. Sometimes I'm in the mood for denser foods, or something a little more nostalgic.

I'm feeling coconut-y today: - smoothie of 1 young coconut, 2 bananas, and pineapple - 5 coconut-date rolls Am looking forward to a spinach salad tonight with celery, grape tomatoes and sunflower ranch dressing. A bit sloppy this week, but I'll find a balance soon enough.
