Eating just the fruit and veg is what I have been doing. . . all the other things have only added in to see if they make the iron and B12 issue better ( BTW correction - I think 'pernicious anaemia' might be the wrong term for the type of anaemia I have.

Hi, I am happily raw vegan and have been (with a few hiccups) for the past two years. However, even after chugging tons of green juices/multivitamin pills/supplements/superfoods/powders/wild foods I have become vitamin B12 and iron deficient and developed pernicious anaemia (not nice really - feels like I can't get enough oxygen . . . and another (possible) symptom is that when I cut mys

Hi, Next week I'm aiming for a 3 day to week long water fast. I feel junked up and out of balance because of fruit overeating. My candida has gone bananas! Anyway . . my question is . . have you ever gone into ketosis while water fasting? I tried a two day fast and went into ketosis the second day (strangely). I have a very fast metabolism and at that point was very athletic and slim. I a

Hi, I don't consider dried apples or banana's raw (for the most part) unless they specify that they are sun-dried on the packet. I once read something about the drying process of fruit - quite often it involves the use of hydrogenated vegetable oil (sorry I don't remember the link). This is not always mentioned on the packet, I'm assuming because the oil was used in the drying process a

Have you tried henna? Henna works brilliantly. It coats the hair and strengthens it to prevent frizzing. I use dark brown henna on my frizzy curls, it's excellent! You can get loads of other colours or 'neutral henna' cassia obovata. Rinses of cold nettle tea or diluted fresh nettle juice coats and strengthens the hair too. I find that it also straightens my hair out. The best shop boug

I love durian. The nearest place for me to get some is London, a 2 hour train journey. I usually have a pretty hilarious time coming back – the durian smell seems to offend a lot of cooked folk. When I first get on the train, they don’t smell so much. After about half an hour they decide to share their scent a bit more generously. More so at the moment because it’s so hot. It’s always the

Brilliant suggestions from David, I have two more things to add . . You could also try foraging for wild foods growing in your area if you live in or near the country. It's amazing what grows wild if you look hard enough. Also ask neighbours if they have any produce, fruit trees for instance, that they would allow you to have or swap. I asked my neighbour if I could pick apples from his tr

Hi ana, Could you post a typical daily menu for us? It might be that you're eating your greens etc. everyday but not eating enough of them/or the right type. Did you tend towards being anaemic before you were raw? Also, did the Dr test your B12 levels to see if it was iron-deficiency or pernicious anaemia? I have always been slightly anaemic too, as is my mum. I get problems wit
