Similarly, "People who add more green leafy vegetables to their diet may significantly reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes, a new study says." Ya think?! Not news to most here, but a message most other people need to hear.

I was never an elite, professional, but was VERY athletic and raised on garbage food and garbage ethics... I did begin to eat and think in a more healthy manner as an adult. But now, I am dying of ALS. There is such a thing as TOO LATE. Sometimes I am astounded that so-called educated people still think there is no connection between diet and physical well-being. I saw that NYT article a

Good to see this. From the NY Times "At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Bob Bowman was standing nearby as Ryan Lochte regaled reporters with his balanced diet: McDonald’s for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Bowman, the coach of Lochte’s longtime rival, Michael Phelps, recalled on Wednesday thinking then that if Lochte ever gave up his fast-food diet, “we could be in trouble

Suggestions are ok. I hear ya. I've got some issues for sure. PTSD poster child here. My family (dysfunctional is too kind a word) and "friends" have suggested suicide. They are worried about the expense of alternative medicine. Stay raw.

Typing is very tough. New doc today... old docs can't do anything. New guy said, "If you can't meet your protein needs, there's something wrong with your digestive system." This is costing a fortune. Although, ALS is killing me. Sooooo, lyme tests, bunch of other tests. None of it covered by insurance... that only pays for corporate medicine. I will be broke soon but then I can't

forget driest pulp and highest yield. what is the absolute EASIEST juicer to use: easy to assemble and clean least resistance / least need to *push* food thru i miss real juice. r-arm/hand useless, l on the way. typing, breathing, everything laborious due to ALS and no real assistance. i don't care if the juicer is not sturdy... if i live long enough, i will replace it. thanks.

Thank you, everyone, for your kindness. Sometimes I think the healing I seek is not, ultimately, physical. Although I sure wouldn't mind be able to kayak again...

Progress is usually thought to be good. However, in the case of ALS, well, "not good" does not describe it. I am typing this laboriously, with one weak hand. The progression has been quite rapid. I ended up giving away my juicers because I do not have the strength to use them. I am very weak. I still use my Blendtec. A year ago, I was kayaking and rock climbing and doing yoga. Now, t

I tried both and ended up making a mess. That's just my experience. I've read many favorable reviews of both products. I ended up with a Benriner. It's more expensive, ($40 or so on Amazon), but it's the only one I could get to work! LOL

I work with people who think healthy is eating three instead of six donuts for breakfast. And a healthy lunch is a cheeseburger instead of a bacon double cheeseburger. Every few weeks someone says, incredulously, "Do you just not eat _________." Fill in the blank with: donuts candy sandwiches (out of the vending machine) potato chips chocolate cheez doodles Etc. Some pe

If you have to buy packaged food, then go for the glass packaging. Watch out for pasturized products that are packaged in plastic. As for fruits and vegetables, fresh is best, but, pre-cut and packaged is usually better than heavily processed... However, check for added sugar (fructose, corn syrup, etc.) and chemicals. Sometimes the convenience factor wins and so pre-cut and packaged fruits an

I am quite certain it is better than Diet Coke, unless you want to clean off the dried white crust on your car battery. If that is the case, Diet Coke is what you need.

No need to pay for it. I will pick up some this weekend. I have seen the brand you mention in my local health food store. My concern is drinking it on an empty stomach straight up. Would fruit juice lessen the efficacy?

No response from Brian Clement yet. Where does chlorella come from? I'm interested. I think spiriulina is out for me. But, I'm wondering if chlorella would be ok... If anyone has any links as to how it is processed, please share! Yes, fresh greens, of course! I have got to start growing my wheatgrass or win the lottery. ha ha I've been overwhelmed with work and my own personal stuff

I remember that pissing match. <sigh> I don"t think there is a one-size-fits-all diet. I think there are some basic principles we can agree on, but the nitty gritty depends on our genetics, our lifestyle since birth, etc.
