The article says the kids ate lots of raw grains, soya, and pulses; foods very hard to digest raw, and full of anti-nutrients. Eaten along with nuts and seeds and dried fruit, they can mess people up, as can binging on rice cakes and butter and yoying between diets extremely high in cancerous animal fat/protein. Vegans who don't eat much destructive raw foods and who don't have borderline eatin

Yes, when I've eaten too many nuts/seeds, I've had very painful episodes accompanied by burps that smell like burnt popcorn; the gas is made by the body in response to the stress of too much fat/protein, however, and has nothing to do with sulphur content in food.

No (the ingredients for that kimchee on their website list no seaweeds or celery, and) I think RF just has a process down for making totally salt/sodium free krauts that still taste reasonably well. From what I've read it is possible to do so, but the vegetables will ferment faster, be tangier/mushier, and possibly need more monitoring as well as not lasting as long. I think the article I poste

Vegetable Fermentation Further Simplified says: ------------------------------------------------------- > The simple key to successful vegetable fermentation is to make sure your vegetables are submerged in liquid. That’s it, the big secret. Usually the liquid is salty water, also known as brine, but fermentation can be done without salt, or with other liquids, such as wine or whey. Typica

Kwan, I wasn't really referring to eating once a day in my post - but the idea of only eating every other day - which I think is bound to be something unstable and life-limiting. I think if someone's body adjusts to eating only once a day over time, that is fine. I recently cut down from 4 meals to 3 when one of my meals wasn't feeling so good, and that gave me a big boost of energy. But it see

That sounds like more of a life cleanse - something to help you get rid of energy, productivity, your job, any time that you spend not thinking about food. I don't think it is healthy or 'eating to live', and unfortunately, I tried it myself once.

Yes, Victoria Boutenko is healthy because her medical tests show so, and because she overcame chronic illness through raw food. Furthermore, her husband and her kids look great, so obviously their overall message does and can work. Some people do have emotional reasons for needing to eat a lot of food, and raw food does not cure these emotions or automatically make you look a certain way or be

I eat only when I'm hungry, and I stop when I'm full; so no matter what my meals consist of, I know I'm not overeating because I start and stop when my body tells me to. I have one mono-meal of the many varieties of local hawaiian bananas every day, and I stop when I'm full; sometimes I have some in my next meal of mixed-fruit/greens (or green smoothie) as well, and my last meal of the day consi

Something rather bad happened to me recently that I wanted to share. I've been having green smoothies daily, most recently in a vita-prep3 3hp blender. I was rather impressed by the smoothness of the blends this machine made. However, it had been my habit to often have local tropical fruits in my smoothies, such as mangoes, or most importantly, fruits of the Annona family (cherimoya, atemoya,

I noticed that Mike's posts are basically advertisements linking to his websites recently; and I hardly feel sorry for him when he claimed in another thread here that he makes $2,000 per month selling people zeolite alone, not counting all of the other stupor-foods he sells. I'm sure he is just so hard up on that salary that he has to come here and post doctored links.

The dictionary says nothing about joining someones private club of corporate scientists and academics who congratulate each other on their papers so long as they are deemed conventional enough. Science is as much about politics and philosophy as every other academic dicipline is. To be a scientist is to use the scientific method when conducting experiments; the people I've mentioned have done tha

Beyondveg is not science, and it's "papers" have been refuted successfully by many people. It is a site full of losers who got to be who they are because they didn't make the correct dietary choices; it has nothing to do with science and everything to do with their religion of meat eating. I've never even heard of the people you mention in your posts; where are the critiques of people

I react adversely to avocados as well. I have noticed slight rashes on my hands (esp. fingers) after eating them, as well as experienced headaches and other signs that my body is off balance. I definitely am reacting to something in the avocado as opposed to just 'fat' itself. I've known rawfoodists who use them as their only fat source; I can't do that (or eat them at all if I want to feel goo

FYI the SF Life potluck is not full of hardcore food combiners (that page is misleading and outdated,) it is quite the opposite actually. But a lot of people who have been to that potluck find other reasons to avoid it. The East Bay Living Foods potluck is a much, much better scene.

I went outside and picked some golden delicous apples, figs, and concord grapes; later I will have a green smoothie of grapefruit, apples, and parsley, or perhaps a fruit salad with the same things except persimmons and pomegranates.

I love raw winter squashes. Some of them you can just slice up into salads or eat with dips; spaghetti squash is too bland, however, in my opinon; and it doesn't just thread out into noodles like when it is cooked. With a vegetable peeler or spiralizer, however, these can be made into noodles; and in a blender with some apples or persimmons and a little bit of coconut oil or other fat they can

Oh yes, the solution to the nutrient-deficient diets based around white rice is to use biotechnology to create a new form of bright orange rice; not, perhaps to find new ways of growing/cultivating the land to grow plant foods that are naturally high in nessecary nutrients. Being compassionate doesn't mean the ends justify the means. Genetically modified crops are about as much of a humanitaria

Yes, this is a vegan forum; it says so directly in the title, and those who are not vegans should leave; their posts are off-topic and against the rules. I agree with arugula completely.
