100% organic skincare line that I use religously: WATER!!! I used to have a lot fo skin problems (acne, cysts, oily skin, dry skin, etc.) and was continually trying new and different and expensive skin care products of many different lines. It was so stressful to always be looking for the right skin care solution "out there". Finally the place I've come to is to eat a low fat

A couple people asked about my Cousens experience and why it didn't work... I don't remember the whole protocol because it was so long and involved and a few years ago. I had this huge spreadsheet with a long long list of supplements and then about 8 columns for "upon waking", "5 minutes before breakfast", "with breakfast", "1 hour before lunch", "

Dr. Doug Graham, a hygiene instructor/fitness trainer, has a recipe book out called the High Energy Diet Recipe Guide or something close. He's all about meals that: Have 5 or less ingredients, take 5 or less minutes to prepare, and cost $5 or less. There's some good stuff in there! Love, Uma

Cousens had me on about 30 supplements at once for several hundred to a thousand dollars a month. Plus his medical fees. I was desperate to try something new so I gave it a shot. It didn't work for me. Love, Uma

Cecelia from rawglow.com mentioned using whole stevia leaves that she grows in her own garden, as being much better than using the extract or powder. I want to check that out! Thanks for the reminder.

Dates! They have a lot of sugar. I read on one of the boards that date sugar which is sold as a sweetener in the store, is simply dried ground up dates. As far as I know, carob is fine -- I don't remember having adverse reactions to it, Taking cacao reminded me (the high and the crash) a bit of cocaine. My body really didn't appreciate it!

That's funny, I popped over to Doug Graham's board and a similar thread was there. I wonder if one started the other! Anyway here's what Doug said: From: Dr. Doug Graham (DrGraham.vegsource.com) Subject: Re: How much water do you drink? I used to drink a lot of water on the raw foods diet especially during the Cousens diet because there was a lot of salt and dehydrated foods which made my body crave water. Now instead I eat mostly fruit which comes with its own water, and I almost never drink an actual glass of water unless it's really hot or I'm doing physically demanding stuff or both. Love, Uma

You can make a blended raw soup and heat it up on the stove so that it's still comfortable to the touch of your finger. Normally we boil soup and let it cool down to eat.. with raw you can just warm it up to eat! Also you can warm stuff up in a dehydrator. When it's cold I try to avoid eating stuff right out of the fridge but rather eat stuff at room temperature. Eating refrigerated or frozen

I have gotten involved in organic gardening and become obsessed over the past few years! Here are a few resources I use a lot: many different topics to choose from, you can post questions and people with more experience offer advice! Rodale's Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening Don Weaver is a raw foodist organic gardener and a big proponent of rock dust. His forum/site is www.remineraliz

I have a friend who has seen scars heal since he went raw. My understanding of the phenomenon is that healing a scar is pretty low on the body's priority list of what to focus healing energies on. If we get to the point in our healing where all other more serious needs are attended to (toxins removed, organs healed, etc.) then the body can get around to this kind of stuff! Uma

I just made the yummiest raw vegan syrup: fresh dates blended with water. poured over my banana icecream (from the champion juicer), it was like a caramel sundae. Uma

Actually I was told it isn't a good idea to brush the teeth right after eating citrus, it may actually cause some erosion since you are brushing that acidic juice into the enamel. My dentist said it's good to rinse with water.

I used to have quite painful cystic acne and i remember the emotional pain around it. I tried so many different things over many years. As far as cooked eating went, one of the biggest helps to me was when I cut out cooked oils and salt. These both became major no-no's if I wasn't in the mood for another cyst. Then moving to raw, I noticed my skin was still a big problem until I switched from

So far I've got lots of lettuce and cilantro, and I notice that they taste way yummier than the store-bought stuff. Also some edible weeds -- lambsquarters and purslane. I also can't wait for the tomatoes!!! There is something so wonderful about eating right from the garden. Love, Uma

At one point in my raw trials, I was eating a LOT but filling up and not feeling satisfied. I was eating tons of raw veggie soups and salads which I came to realize have almost NO calories. Now I focus more on eating lots of sweet fruit (for breakfast & lunch, with a veggie/fat dinner). Sweet fruit has lots of calories packed into less volume, is easy to digest, takes no prep time, is super y

I am collecting advice on people's favorite raw food vacation spots. I'm interested in somewhere I can relax by the beach and eat lots of fresh fruit, preferably organic. Looking at Mexico or Costa Rica right now but will entertain other options! I know of some places but not where organic is abundant. Thank you! Love, Uma
