We shop at food co-ops and farmers markets mostly. Theres a Whole Foods up the road from us that we also go to. Most of the fruit and vegetables we buy are organic. I would say we usually spend anywhere between $80 to $120 per week for the two of us. Winter is obviously more expensive if we are in Ohio. If we are back in the Caribbean then it is usually on the lower end of the scale. My husband i

Hmmmm interesting idea WY! I will have to try that. Tahini is a good source of calcium. So are spinach, edamame, kale, okra, bok choy and dandelion greens.

I don't know about the term "real raw foodist". I think what is important is what does raw mean to YOU. If salting your foods lightly makes you feel good and helps you stick with raw foods then I don't see anything wrong with it. I use salt occasionally and I consider myself a raw foodist. Sometimes I use nama shoyu or certain vinegars when I make dressings and sauces. Some people react

I would imagine the extent to which the are destroyed and the amount depends on the method used to cook (i.e. grilling, roasting and frying would destroy more than say.. light steaming). Fresh is best. I could be wrong though and arugula would probably give a better answer.

Welcome karmele! You cannot eat kidney beans raw! You can, however, sprout lentils and eat them that way. I buy myy raw oat groats HERE. Most of the commercial oats in stores are not truly raw. I soak mine and eat it with nut milk, dried fruit and spices (basically an unheated version of oatmeal.) As to nuts... well when I do soak them its usually for a couple of hours max. Theres a l

It varies depending on the type of aloe plant you have. The most common varieties have either yellow or reddish sticky liquid between the leaf and the gel. It can also be clear. And yeah... not the best tasting thing at all I agree! When I do use it internally I put it in smoothies to mask the taste.

What has the laxative effect is the bitter yellow/red sticky goo... not the clear, gel inside that most people use. It's called aloe latex.

Patty, fit day allows you to create "custom foods"... you can plug in the nutritional info on the label of your green powder and it will add it to your list of foods.

It is really pricey yeah... when I tried it I did have a bit more pep in my step but not enough to warrant the price. It had about the same effect as when I tried regular green powder.

I agree with Bryan. Vit C is not hard to get if you are eating lots of fresh produce. When I occasionally enter my food for the day on fitday, I am always well over the recommended amount for C.

4 to 5 days a week but we live in an area where we can walk a lot (to stores, taking the dog out several times a day etc) so I keep a decent level of activity every day.

Ohhhh I understand what you mean WY... I remember when I was really young we used to have a nanny who would make oatmeal that was very much that consistency. I remember being fascinated by the fact that no matter how hard you shook the spoon you could never get it to come off LOL
