arugula is probably in a library that has a giant oceanic swimming pool

all the books' pages are laminated and thus water proof

and she is doing her favorite thing:

imbibing information

while taking nibbles out of her carrot and raisins salad

now THAT is living!!

uhhh.. sorta tongue sticking out smiley

Nice vision V.

Except the lamination would have to be made of bio-plastics so as not to be offgassing hormone disrupters. The saviors of the world need all their wits about them. smiling smiley

Hey youze guys! I'm still alive and kicking.

Got a new job, teaching special needs kids (emotionally disturbed), some high schoolers and some 2nd and 3rd graders. Who knew I would love being around kids so much--I guess it's because I never had any of my own.

I also got a new bathroom, a great improvement over the original 1955 fixtures and cabinets. I went with shaker maple cabinets in a honey finish, 13x13 off white tile on the floor, and 6x6 on the walls. I also got a new tub, solid surface countertop in "pepper" and white undermount porcelain sink. Sorry none of it is enviro-friendly, couldn't afford it.

I haven't been reading that many nutrition papers but I did read this one:

Estimated conversion of alpha-linolenic acid to long chain n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids is greater than expected in non fish-eating vegetarians and non fish-eating meat-eaters than in fish-eaters.
Welch AA, Bingham SA, Khaw KT.
J Hum Nutr Diet. 2008 Jul 15;21(4):404.
PMID: 18721446 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

which is good news to me.

I've been really chilly lately and not so raw as usual. Today we (me, daddy, brother) celebrated Thanksgiving by going to a Singaporean restaurant that has a special vegan menu. I got the kung pao veggies with veggie spring roll, "fish" sticks and lychee-black tea. I skipped the rice, though.

I still do huge salads for lunch and lots of fruit. And still get tons of comments at work about my humongous salads and how healthy I am. The principal says I am "killing them with health."

The school nurse said to me, "I bet you make a lot of @#$%&."

About 85% of the kids are very low SES and eat garbage. Their free lunches are beyond garbage. The faculty and staff eat mostly garbage, too.

I don't say much about my food.

But one day my boss took me on a fishing trip, the kind where you are required to throw the fish back, and I still wigged out seeing those poor little fish struggling for life and breath hanging by their weight from hooks. That was horrible.

I still have dreams about being among the like-minded. Maybe some day.

Good to see you again. smiling smiley

Glad you're making a difference out there (even if you feel like a fish out of water)!

And thanks for the article, I'll spread it around.
