I heard one of the interviews. She said when she had to leave him overnight at a medical facility he said "I'm sorry". He apparently thought he'd been bad and maybe the phrase would get him out of it. She had taught him the meaning of "I'll be back" and she made sure to be there first thing in the morning. I wish I could communicate better with my animals. Look how many misunderstandings there are between humans even when we know the same language. Kit Re: An amazing bird story from the NY Times
