Omega posted John's (the owner of this board) email address and said they could get rid of the 'Hate' (meaning me) on the Political Forum by everybody emailing John and complaining, and then suncloud and someone else (I think it was riverhousebill) said they would sign a petition to get rid of the Political Board all together, and then a couple hours later, the Political Board was gone.

Sorry, just read the 'just noticing' post - so now I know.

I have deleted the Politics / Economics forum due to abuse. Please discuss your Politics on a polictical board. I want to keep this site focused on Living and Raw Foods.

the toxic atmosphere of politics is contrary to that


not to mention as John has said in the past

this is HIS home . that he pays for financially *and* timewise . with little or no donations or help from US ... if this is the way he wants it then that is his choice

if you want to discuss politics there are thousands of other sites to do it

the very nature of a forum is that certain behavior is allowed and some isn't - going back to the time where the forum was a real place of discussion. You couldn't walk in naked and start insulting people and make accusations that arn't true.

just the name alone cites: 'raw foods' and 'community support'

the only things that get 'censored' are things that clearly violate the forums rules.

I feel bad that Bryan spent all the time sifting through the threads sorting out the political stuff.

Yes, people had the option of not going there and looking but my guess is John certainly didn't want to have a free for all daily bulletin of ideas that not only do not have anything to do with the raw foods lifestyle or supporting others, but ideas that are hateful and destructive, whether targeted at individuals on the boards or outside. It gives everyone a bad name and is really contrary to the image of an accepting and open vegan group and frames it as some radical and unhappy fringe of neurotics.

Yes, we had the option of not going to the political board, but the point is being missed. We had the right to participate in the political board, but Lois's posts transformed it into a toxic minefield, so ultimately many-- probably most of of us-- who would like to have had civil discourse about current politics felt we had no choice but to stay away from the board because it was just too contaminated. So really, who was being censored? :-)

Anyway, it's over now, and we can move on. As Jgunn is famous for saying....
