Thanks Jodi.

I could decorate them be inviting for the kids.

i have so many ideas. I have another for the perfect kids' spoon.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WY,
I feel sorry for people who choose to go around behaving badly. They must not be happy people.
I love being courteous. I chat with people everywhere I go, and if they are nice back, I seek them out in the future. I have the loveliest little bagger boy at the grocery store. He takes good care of all my produce and seems happy to use my canvas bags. He is so friendly. I told one of his managers he was a great bagger, but he already knew.
Life is all the little things that make up your days. I think the people who have the attitude that they will cheat in line in order to rush through life need a lesson in how much better life can be for them. I like to smile at them. Show them how patient I can be with my kids. Try to get them to pay attention and feel love and goodness from strangers. I think of it as an opportunity to plant a seed, and it makes me happy.
My daddy taught me that. People were always happy to see him everywhere he went. He also looked like Santa Clause. That helped too. smiling smiley! When I was about seven I really noticed how being that way toward people worked for him. I remember people smiling and waving to him all the time.
I love thinking about my daddy. He was the best!
As for those people getting in the Express Line with more than
10 items...I'm sure most of them aren't aware of what they're
doing. "Put the best construction on the action of others"....
someone said that. In other words, it's okay to have Pet Peeves,
but don't let them bother you too much...WY
I'm rather shocked every time I see people
'breaking' Banana bunches. Are they picking out the best
bananas, or just don't want that many? When I buy bananas,
which is rare, I buy the whole bunch. How do you buy Bananas?
....break or not break?...WY
"How do you buy your bananas?"
By the 40 pound box. It has become a weekly staple. Yay!
I agree!! The last time that happened to me was
when I was visiting a friend who I hadn't seen for a long
time. I was waiting for her in the Living Room while she
was getting ready in her Bedroom. After a while I heard her
talking to someone on the phone. After about 15 minutes, I
got up and left without saying a word. We haven't spoken to
each other since. Now who was right?....WY
kinda passive aggressive there. without communication what is the point? if someone does something that you don't like it's up to you to express your feelings about it, not leave them guessing. another person in the same situation might not have minded at all. if you care for people you work through problems, you don't just throw them out like garbage when they fail to please you or don't live up to your expectations.
i break the banana bunches. i loathe bananas so i am only buying them for the kids. i buy as many as we can use up before the get to ripe. to that end i usually take about 4 of the ripest ones and 4 of the least ripe, that lasts for about a week or so. no harm, how can breaking up bunches of bananas possibly hurt anything?
This gets me and it gets you-It isn’t rocket science …
Posted in Retarded Absurdities, kids by Tamara. on April 3rd, 2009
… it’s much worse. A chemical used in rocket fuel has been found in samples of powdered baby formula.
The study, done by U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the amount could exceed what’s considered a safe dose for adults. Is there a safe dose of rocket fuel?
How in the hell did this happen and what is it exactly that causes a scientist to wake up one day and decide to test baby formula for rocket fuel? And omG at the implications here. Are we nuts? We must be nuts.
Scientists are saying perchlorate can affect thyroid function. This is absolutely horrifying. As a thyroid patient I can tell you that while it is treatable, the outcome can be devasting.
So what is next for us? I’m afraid to even guess …
it truly is nuts
regarding my friend: coco .. i think she knows shes being rude cuz she gushes afterwards how sorry she is and how hard it is to get off the phone with these certain people that call her ..and then i say to her well just tell them you have guests call back later .. but she keeps doing it and doing it lol ..even her dad and husband have joked about it ..her inviiting friends over then ending up on the phone for hours .. wouldl you suggest than i just outright tell her sorry i cant come over if you are gonna be on the phone while i visit you because i have better things to do? i dont know what to do lol smiling smiley
I would definitely say something to your friend Jodi. You should find the most diplomatic way to say it, but it needs to be said.
When other people's issues interfere with your life it is a signal for you to say/do something.
Your friend obviously has a problem that she is choosing not to address. You are not helping her by ignoring it. It sounds like her family has already been trying to tell her.
Life is too short to sit around listening to other people talk on the phone!
Jodi it's great that you talked to her about it, that's at least saying your piece and trying to keep the communication open with her. i guess i should have copied and pasted, i was saying all that about walking out and never talking again. that's what i found passive aggressive and no solution to the problem at all.
It was a good solution for me just to walk
away from the relationship. I'm feeling much better for
it. No one can make a Judgment about someone else unless
they know all the details, and even then we shouldn't
judge another....so Coco.....get off my Back!!!....WY
Yogi if you didnt feel the relationship was worth it then you did what you felt was the right thing to do smiling smiley i tottally understand why you walked out tho, i often feel like doing the same thing
I really like this person shes amazing on so many levels except for this one thing is really annoying , coco and kise are right , i just have to figure out a way of telling her how it makes me feel with out making her upset lol
on the subject of phones ... people who talk on their cell phones in restuarants .. omg turn it off an enjoy your meal and company lol ... i mean i keep mine with me but its OFF during meals lol
Thank you Jodi. It was as much her decision as
it was mine. Sometimes a relationship is just 'over'..there's
no need to hang on. The woman in question has a long history
of mental illness. I even had to call 911 once, years ago, to
save her life...for which she never forgave me. She has been
Baker Acted a half-dozen times for suicidal behavior. This
act of disrespect with the phone was the 'last straw' for me...WY
I guess you could say I temporarily have a current pet peeve: drunken know-it-alls who hang out and ruin the atmosphere when I'm playing music in the subway! I had barely set up to play yesterday when this guy-- just REEEEEKING of alcohol.... (and you know me, a bleeding heart liberal not usually bothered in the least by alcoholics, but this guy was in a class of rudeness all by himself)-- he starts examining my gear, flutes and music, and says "Oh, can you play jazz? I'm a great jazz singer. You play and I'll be the judge of whether you're a jazz musician or not." I start playing, and very few bars he tries to sing along, or he sings another tune altogether from the one I'm playing... and badly, too. He keeps a running dialogue going with my audience, and after awhile he starts critiquing my playing and announces to my audience, "She's not really playing jazz, but I'm a real jazz musician." Finally, after I threatened to call a cop, he got on a train and left.
Are you sure you handled it the Best Way??
If it was me, I would have probably made him part of the
'Act', like you did, but not threaten to call a cop later.
I guess every situation is different. I'm reminded of
Comedians on the rise playing in 'cheap bars' and having
to handle Drunks in the audience. Some I've heard are quite
skillful. Maybe you should prepare an Act in itself that
deals with drunks??....WY
P.S. I enjoyed your story about being on 'trial'.
>Are you sure you handled it the Best Way??
If it was me, I would have probably made him part of the
'Act'<
In somewhat similar circumstances in the past I would have just ignored him, but in this case he was a bit too loud and 'in my face,' and I couldn't even concentrate on the music. If I had made him part of my act, my act would have deteriorated completely and it would have become his act and I would have had to go home.
When I used to play my meditation music outdoors in the summer, there were times when I had more than one guy practically passed out, sitting or even lying near me as I played, and I was happy to play for them, even though your audience sometimes tends to dissipate when that happens. But I have a limit-- when someone deliberately makes it hard for me to perform and disrupts my act too much, even when I'm trying to be friendly and tolerant, then I have to say something. And if I don't, believe me, my husband will! He always accompanies me, and being blind, he's more intimidated by unknown situations than I am.
Great!! I guess you're assigned Stations by your
Organization? I imagine some stations are better than others....
a better Class of people, if you will.
I saw a woman breaking a Banana bunch yesterday at Publix. I
confronted her and said "Why did you do that?" 'Do what' she
said. "Break the bunch." 'Oh, I just wanted a few.' "Oh." I
said....WY
Haha! No no, it's not like that. ;-) Mostly the organization just fights for our rights and contacts the ACLU and lawyers and stuff like that. Actually, sometimes I wish the spots WERE assigned; sure would be easier! It's first-come-first-served, so the early bird gets the worm, in this case, a good station. I've been getting out a little late to find out what stations are available, so I ended up both days at Central, which is my neighborhood station, a block from my apartment. Central is a mix of gentrification and poverty, and I love the people because they're from all walks of life and generally very friendly. The next station up the line, Harvard, is where a lot of musicians try to play, because a lot of fairly wealthy people shop in Harvard Square or live there. You often have to show up at Harvard at 7am to flip a coin for 3 spots--morning, afternoon and evening. At Central, you just show up, sit down, and play 95% of the time. (Whee!) It's hard to get a spot there these days generally, as a rather large influx of unemployed people have suddenly discovered 'the joy of busking,' thanks to a front page Boston Globe article about same. (Alas, most of them will tire of it within a month or two.) ;-o Anyway, I was quite thrilled to do so well at Central today, at rush hour when the trains were running fast and I nevertheless made almost 10 times as much money there playing jazz as I've made there at rush hour in the past playing my meditation music.
LOL. I don't think Jodi eats that many Bananas. I have
a friend who eats a lot of Bananas, and still breaks the
bunches. I think she's selecting the best bananas....gotta ask
her about that some day, as if it matters....WY
