Only if it works on my deck winking smiley. I think the birds and squirrels would have a party though. My fault, I've been feeding them out there all winter. They think it's their lunch counter grinning smiley

Oops, I entirely forgot about Valentine's day! Well, hope it's happy for you guys and gals too winking smiley.

WY, it seems like a good idea on the internet gets passed around from friend to friend, source to source, until it comes to all the right people who will enjoy it most. I think this string garden thing would be great for growing herbs and small greens inside the house or on a porch for those with very little space. No need for pots, just dirt, moss, string and seeds. It's so neat to look at too! I like it.

Hey, you could grow wheatgrass like that too! Nifty.

coco,

These are beautiful and appeal to my minimalist aesthetics, but how do you keep from killing the plant? I'm sure I'd give the poor things root rot in short order. Also, I don't think it would work for very fecund plants; the roots would end up poking out all over the place, no? Still very intriguing. Thanks for posting!

I don't know how they do it but there were entire trees with their root balls all wrapped up in a nice little moss covered ball. It looked like way not enough space for the roots of a whole tall tree but there it was. It's magic!

my opinion on bonsai trees :its like what they used to do to chinese women...wrap their foot up in the most impossibly smallest of shoes so as to stunt their growth to please male sense of aesthetics, order, agenda...

my opinion on string gardens: why hang a plant up in the air, when its roots were meant to meander deep into the soil of the earth?

yeah, i know i know.. i just ruined the happy party of ooooing and aaaaaing

but my insides turn when i see strings mercilessly asphyxiating the living daylights out of these plants and then hanging them up to dry like something unnatural

as far as the bonsai trees.... never saw anything inherently more "valuable" in smaller versions of trees meant to be a natural size

like.. i never understood why chinese women's feet needed to be wrapped and bounded

well.. maybe if some people were afraid that the trees would grow underneath the soil and cut into electrical lines etc. or mess up other people's backyards by
shedding their leaves and petals all over ( trust me, this happens sometimes and you get neighbors going to war over it)

still... nature morphed binded and bound to serve people's sense of

cute

or

space/money/convenience agenda

actually, bonsai originally was formed to mimic a natural phenomenon, where the trees would take root in crazy places, often little tiny patches of dirt collected between rocks, and they would grow like miniature versions...basically putting what little energy they could into getting to adulthood, in the smallest most compact form they can, to match their environment... these trees where highly prized, I believe natural ones are still worth a LOT even today... but often many man made ones are more sculpted than the wild version...

i still think bonsai trees are cute and all

but i think the bigger trees are stunning and majestic

okay curator

so the idea of adapting to one's environment

yeah, i get it

i guess its like if a kid isn't fed well enough, it gets stunted growth

but can u imagine if then parents decided that they wanted their kids to be half their height

forever?

LOLsmiling smiley
