Date: December 03, 2011 03:24AM I love insects. I will have nightmares about that thing, however. It will be playing tug-of-war with me over the carrots I bought today and making hissing sounds as its spiny back legs scrape against my kitchen linoleum.
Thanks, banana who. I have trained myself to never watch "Frontline" right before bed, and now this. Re: World's Largest Insect in New Zealand

Date: December 03, 2011 04:36PM Thanks, Lightform. Tonight I will dream that I am sitting down to a nice glass of carrot juice with my friend the Giant Weta. It will still hiss, though.
P.S. I have wondered where the CGI etc. studio that did the special effects for those "Lord of the Rings" films got their name. From this creature, I presume? Re: World's Largest Insect in New Zealand

Yes, banana who, I saw a weta in a cave when I was with a hiking group, but that is the only one I ever saw in over 10 years in NZ. Thank goodness! I wouldn't care to see them very often. And Tamukha, Weta Workshop is a Kiwi company and that insect is their company logo or mascot, perhaps?!! My favorite raw vegan Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
