Does having lung cancer mean you lose your voice? I am not so sure about that one.

Man, when I was in my early teens, Donna was IT. Tam, you were a "child" back then? I thought you were older than I am!

When I was in my 20s, Donna and Disco was IT. The most fun years of my life, living life in the fast lane, but also the years when I screwed myself up the most.

Anyway, today on Twitter, the bigger story is how she believed she got lung cancer from the 911 dust. This article says she smoked cigarettes -

It seems she didn't smoke after all --

Yes, I heard on the radio she believed the asbestos or whatever it was caused the cancer. There have been others who have fallen ill, as well (like first responders) and gotten the shaft from those promising to help them with medical costs or whatever they needed.

I listened to "On the Radio" and "Bad Girls" today because it reminded me of the past.

I've been listening to her songs since I heard the news. MacArthur Park was my favorite yesterday. Love to Love You Baby is in my head today - I hadn't remembered that it was so sexy. Last Dance is another favorite. Having my own Donna Summer Music Fest.

Oh Donna Summer. She was so beautiful and sultry. I was in 6th grade when "Love to love you, baby" came out. My mother forbade us to listen to it. Of course we did on transistor radios at school. Good memories.

I forgot about "Heaven Knows" and "I Feel Love." She was the queen of disco! I don't listen to music much anymore but when I feel like it, I have gone on Youtube and looked up one of her songs.

I was just thinking about how Davy Jones represented the '60s, Levon Helm (with The Band) late '60s-early '70s, Donna the late '70s, and Whitney the '80s! And all gone within a matter of months! Poof!

Gonna see if they still have "Thank God It's Friday" on Netflix. Donna starred in that film along with Lionnel Richie and the Commodores. The film itself is camp and probably wouldn't be made today. But for me it's packed with good memories.
