Date: December 18, 2013 09:27PM I don't know much about solar. Have we really developed the technology to harness it for all of our energy needs? Can you explain? Re: North America to drown in oil as Mexico ends monopoly

Date: December 18, 2013 09:48PM Solar - it easy and available
Many use it here in Vermont (many incentives given) and sell the excess back to the grid. Solar is not an issue, it is the batteries on an independent system that is the week link. I believe that all micro energy generation processes could power our needs (not our wants in this overindulgent country) - microsolar, microwind, microhydro, and more. Why give our power (money) to the utility companies. Mostly live simply. Re: North America to drown in oil as Mexico ends monopoly

Solar - it easy and available it is the batteries on an independent system that is the week link. It is the main energy source for thousands in my county and works very well! Good point on the batteries being the weak link. Our military has locked up for its own use much higher tec batteries. If they were avail now big oil would take a dip. All this drug cartell crap in Mexico is about oil. Unstable govt needs a little help on how to pump. Can we help? 12 million 55 gal drums a day. got soot brain yet? Edited 1 time(s). Date: December 20, 2013 04:28PM The problem with wind power is that those windmills are unsightly and noisy, according to residents. They put them up in open areas and block the views that the land-owners have.
I don't get the part about the batteries on independent system bit. I saw a video once about a guy who built his own cabin from a log cabin kit for $5K, a plot of land in the middle of nowhere in Montana for only several hundred dollars, and he had solar panels that totally powered everything in his tiny house. I would love to find that video again. Tried to search but to no avail. Re: North America to drown in oil as Mexico ends monopoly

Date: December 20, 2013 06:53PM Windmills aren't just noisy, but the noise affects your brain - like those humming fluorescent lightbulbs, etc. Also, they kill bats, eagles, birds. Also, they aren't cost effective - in other words, they don't work. Unhealthy, dangerous, expensive, ineffective.
Can you imagine listening to that noise 24/7. It would drive me crazy. That's one reason I didn't want to move to New Zealand - listening to the wind all the time would drive me nuts. Date: December 30, 2013 01:17PM Small scale independent projects including wind do not have to be noisy or unsightly. The axial windmill is quiet but is not being commercially produced, as far as I know of yet. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
