What made me love that movie ,the discreet charm of the bourgeoisie is that they never got to eat. evry time something happen and they never ate anything on those amazing banquets. like the high society that has evrything but has no time to take advantage,or they spoil evrything
Also on That obscure object of desire is the same.the guy try evrything but the woman is never with him.
Bunnel is amazing,he is a cheaser.

Le voyage du Capitaine Fracasse

I saw Gandhi when it came out in 1982. I really liked it. Lately I've been wanting to see it again. I live in South Korea so it's not so easy to just wing on down to a DVD shop and rent it. What I want is to find an online pay-per-view company. I've looked around with Google but haven't found anything. Maybe I'm just not adept enough, maybe it's really easy. But here I am asking if anyone knows of an online source.

Ah, I remember. I did see one. But you have to be a member and pay a monthly fee. I'm not a big movie fan. I just want to watch something once in a while. Once a month maybe. Maybe less often.

Thanks,
Troy.

it wasn't the mike hammer movie?
ohhh..
how funnysmiling smiley

well, yeah, u kinda made me wonder
cuz... well... its not the type of movie that i would think anyone would really hanker to be watching

so i'm glad its a wenders movie, instead
i like the VVVVVIM man!

cy,

<<his name is Dashiell Hammet and he is an ex detective. I have to see it again, but he is inside of a write's mind. and the writer is telling you(the viewer) the story, and has that amazing theme with a saxophone that stays in your head forever>>

well, then ,i must check out the saxophone part to see what the big hullaboo is all about smiling smiley yeah, like i said, u kinda made me wonder because that other movie had a saxophone thing in it but it wasn't like... WOWWWWWWW.. it was kinda like just really ...well... let's just say it ... forget it.. it wasn't something that i would think someone would find "memorable" and it was only one or two scenes and it was a wisp in the background but not something to swoon over..

it was something that maybe a drummer would really pay attention to
to scrutinize the beat but other than that.. hmmm... no.. maybe not even a drummer would.. well.. i did remember the little background trills because ... i don't know.. i just did... hard to explain

.<<at least is on my head and i can't forget that.it is a noir type of movie, very serious, very cloudy, foggy.hope you can understand me.>>

unfortunately, i can smiling smiley ( ha ha.. serious.. noir type.. i like those movies.. somehow.. they just seem to have the type of intriguing plot that i can get into)

<<maybe i was so impressed with it that i'm making a big deal. i must see it again. >>

if you're impressed with it you SHOULD make a big deal

u either make a big deal about film

or go over to the food board and make a big deal about fruits and veggies
pros and cons

i like to talk about film more

i don't know why that is

i just find it far more interesting right now

la veronique you are the funniest person ever!!!!!
i'm always cracking here when i read your messages. just hilarious !!!!!
GOT THAT ?!!!!
You got this,the funny virus.ah,ah,ah,...

you know that funny people are very, very inteligent,clever,smart...

about the fact that you like movies and like to talk about movies (me too ) the psychology explains that when we need to scape from reality we go over other people's reality and excitment. And movies are like dreams that we have and we can completly scape from our reality. But our dreams are ours, meaning that they tell us about our reality and how to fix it.Because of that we can't remember them,it's too painful to look flat on our reality, than we go to the movies because they have nothing to do with us,but they make us alive in other people's life. They make us forget and they make us live in other reality for 2 hours and/or for a long time like me and the sax theme that is on my head forever.

<<You got this,the funny virus.ah,ah,ah,...>>

yep, it is genetic
cuz i was born with this condition u see
its called

Fun-dymental Syndrome

wherein my immunoglobins don't have the receptors that recognize the "funny" pathogen

thus the funny antigen was able to pass detection
and infected my entire bloodstream

and so... there u go

as far as the dream/movie connection

i guess u could call it an "escape"
but i usually like to really scrutinize and study the film
i'm usually very focused when i do it

and try to find parallels to learn from
kind of like when i read a book

sometimes i even take notes
like if i find an idea worth mulling over
so it usually takes a really long time for me to pick out a film

like tomorrow
i'll be checking out the video

PANCAKES AND SYRUP AT MR. BOBO's

and the next week it will be

HAVE YOU MOWED YOUR LAWN TODAY? ( Home 'N Garden video)

but i'm really hankering to see the really critically acclaimed

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU'VE LOST YOUR PAPAYA TO A PILFERING FRUITARIAN

you know I do the same? evrything that I watch I analyse, and compare with my life, and that is a therapy for me.I do that with books too.
Do you know the works of the swedish director Ingmar Bergman?
I really love him.

The seventh seal
Wild strawberries (my favorite. the man has a dream about himself and his world)]
Persona (very profund )
Scenes from a marriage
Face to face
The serpent's egg (about the 2nd war and mind torture )
Autum sonata (another favorite - about a mother and daughter relationship.
Bergman knows about music and in this movie he does the ABA Sonata Form - A form -"daughter writes to her mother" (inviting her to visit her daughters)
B form -mother comes to visit her and they have a comflict
A form - "daughter writes to her mother" ( apologizing)

From the life of the marionettes ( as our life in society like a marionette)
Fanny and Alexander (now he has reencarnation on this movie)another favorite

Many other movie of him that I really love. He is one of my favorite director.
Very powerful, intense, clever, and he knows a lot about psychology and music.
That what makes me love him.
Also he direct "The Magic Flute",and opera from Mozart. Amazing !!!One of the best opera directions that I've ever seen.
I hope you like him

la veronique, I'm leaning to be more and more with myself. I always had conviction in evrything that I liked until I started to believe in other people, but now I'm getting to know myself better and my conviction did come back, and is coming back.
Yes,I do have a strong conviction,and I'm getting better.

whatever u believe in other people is probably what u believe in yourself
which is what makes them so appealing for you
conviction is cool
cuz it gives me more energy
like magically out of the blue
when the conviction is there
its like there is nothing that can't be done

yes, you're wrigt, the same as when you think about someone ,bad or good,it's because you have that feeling inside of you.Evryone is our mirror.
Maybe conviction id good because we don't have to fight about ideas,we think that thing and period. We don't have to demonstrate anything. It is what it is.

" when the conviction is there it's like there is nothing that can't be done"

You are completly wright.(period)

Hi there, have you seen those movies by Majid Majid ? A wonderful director from Iran.
I really love his movies:
Children of heaven (my favorite of all, wonderful, amazing!!!!)
The color of paradise (very sad, about a blind boy and he's father's prejudice)
Baran Rain ( about women in Iran - very difficult )

And also Siddiq Barmak,a director from Afghanistan:
Osama (about women's right in Afghanistan, very, very dense movie! )

i saw children of heaven ( very well done and i appreciated that)

and osama ( very chilling movie)

Majid has a unique vision ( a rare vision)

osama was a downer
i can't imagine having to hide the fact that i'm female

shaving my hair off and all that that that girl did in the movie
so she could get a job

my favorite scene was when the grandma was singing the song to her
the grandma was smart

and she was lulling her to a dream sleep
so she wouldn't have to feel the pain of having her hair cut off

and waking up stripped of her identity

i also thought that the crazy "entrepreneurial" boy in the movie
who was the one that was carrying that smoke "good luck" lamp
that would ward off evil spirits
(that's what he would tell the tourists/ documentary journalists)

and then he threatened to tell the Taliban on her that she was a girl unless she gave him a coin was like pretty like.. wohaaaaaaaa!!

and then, he turns out to be her rescuer
trying to defend her

that was a real turn of character
that was also one of my favorite parts

the scariest part was when she was made to climb that super tall tree
and she probably never climbed a tree before

and i thought she was going to fall off that tree
and u could see how scared she was

i thought though
that it was kind of funny that they made her cry so much

u may think i am crazy
but i couldn't help laughing every time she cried
i know i was supposed to cry too but it just didn't happenNN!

it just seemed funny she kept crying so much ( oh my gosh!)

i'm bad

but oh well

it was a sad movie

i guess i would have cried too if i were her
but ... well, she just made me laugh when she cried
( badddd me)

weirder things have happened

Wow. You two have got a monopoly on this thread. Until now anyway!

I'm here to make money and to learn Korean Zen (Seon). I lived in Thailand for a bunch of years and didn't work a whole lot. I've decided to return to the US later this year but want to make some money first. Six months gone, six more to go.

Then I want to head back to Thailand for a spell of serious relaxation. Sleep sleep sleep. Then head on to India to meet my mom and Indian step-dad. Then I don't know for a month or so, then to the US.

Thinking I want to live either at a Buddhist temple or at an intentional community. California as that's where my parents live. I don't know where I'll settle but I've been looking around online and have found some interesting places. There's a Korean Buddhist temple in Tehachapi that looks particularly interesting.

I've known people who have no intention of going back to the US to live. Some have no intention of ever going back even just to visit family and friends. I understand. But there are super duper things going on in the US. At the other end of a spectrum is the unbelievably despicable things happening within the same man-made borders.

If you like turbulence and stimulation, the US has got it all and more.

I want to go back to be closer to parents while they're still healthy and strong. Otherwise, I might never return either. Thailand is a pretty neat place. Unfortunately, there's no Zen / Seon.

Hey TroySantos, you could go to Brazil too,to the North,Bahia, just to have fun and sun while you think where are you going to go.I's a stress free Country, but in the North. The South of Brazil is getting very money oriented.

And la Veronique, about the boy on Osama,he didn't realize about the danger of being a female until the last minut. And maybe you laugh because you were nervous,or because it's the most stupid,I have no word to say about the female position there.
We can't understand (or I don't want to understand)that society, and I believe neither they can.

i'm not even sure why i bothered
whew!!

i won't do that again
usually i'm pretty careful about getting a really GOOOOD movie
but not sure what happened that day

i especially like Documentaries like

"How To Brush Your Teeth when You are In the Forest"
(beginner's guide to utilitarian plants for Hygienists)

" How to Create Special Hair styling Gels for your longer than Shoulder Width Hair"

" Best ways to Create Flaxseed Crackers without a Dehydrator"

" Creative Ways of Making GREEN Smoothies during a Board Meeting"
(episode 4 of Silent Blender Adventures)

they are like soooo inSPIRING! smiling smiley

has anyone ever SEEn these?

gotta admit
they are hard to get

and even harder to make

woweee "drogs"? hmmmm... is that "dogs on drugs" just abbreviated to "drogs"?

and how they must be cared for by the veterinarian doctors?

that DOES sound VERY interesstttinggGGGg!

i MUST get me one of those! smiling smiley

I just saw, right next to the " How to make a Green Smoothie During a Board meeting " movie at Blockbusters... there was the sequel documentary

" How do Make Sunflower Sprout Juice in a Hotel Room Without Waking up Four Star Neighbors"

episode 6 of Silent Juicer Adventures

it wasn't as fun as the "green smoothie during board meeting :silent blender adventures" but it was alright

basically what u do is get up
plug in the juice machine ( the video shows u step by step)

then u wash the sunflower sprouts ( the ones that u carefully cultivated on the window sill next to the bathroom for 4 days during special business trip)

then u put sunflower sprouts in the blender

then u push the button ( start)

then u push it down with the plastic chute thingamajigger

and then u place it in a cup

then u drink it

and since the juice machine is silent

no one ever wakes up

it was a real trip
i learned a lot

though i took copious amounts of notes
so as to get things jusssssssssst

RIGHT!!

by the way
that is my favorite movie

Us "aliens" are gobbling up all the earths natural resources! Just like little piglies. It's good to know that a vegan lifestyle gives our animal neighbors lots of room to grow and thrive. Now all the worlds' critters can have happy feet!

...nothing sucky about that!
