That's a lyric link. I always have heard her on rock stations. I love everyone of the songs on her debut album. I have listened to it so much if it were an album I would have worn the grooves down. My favorites are "Baby can I hold you", "She's gat a Ticket", "If not now...." The lyrics are incredible. I wish I would have been there to see her perform on the street. How cool would that be? I love where I live but I could definitely appreciate that part of city life.

Here's a sample link.

Yeah that's really cool, really .... don't have an adjective.

Here people would stifle disgust and fear, but it would show anyway on their faces and would walk as quickly as possible away from you. The odd person would try to help, but might try to fix it or control it rather than letting it be what it is.

Nice anecdote.

i love jann arden but ithink this has to be my favorite of hers hehe

Insensitive by* Jan Arden

the video is at this link [www.youtube.com]

How do you cool your lips,
after a summer's kiss?
How do you rid the sweat,
after the body bliss?
How do you turn your eyes,
from the romantic glare?
How do you block the sound of a voice,
you'd know anywhere?
Oh, I really should have known by the time you drove me home,
by the vagueness in your eyes, casual good-byes,
by the chill in your embrace, the expression on your face
that told me you might have
some advice to give, on how to be
insensitive
How do you numb your skin,
after the warmest touch?
How do you slow your blood,
after the body rush?
How do you free your soul,
after you've found a friend?
How do you teach your heart,
its a crime to fall in love again?
Oh, you probably won't remember me,
its probably ancient history.
I'm one of the chosen few
who went ahead and fell for you.
I'm out of vogue, I'm out of touch,
I fell too fast, I feel too much.
I thought that you might have
some advice to give, on how to be
insensitive.

hehe

its not easy being green !

It's not that easy being green;
Having to spend each day the color of the leaves.
When I think it could be nicer being red, or yellow or gold...
or something much more colorful like that.

It's not easy being green.
It seems you blend in with so many other ord'nary things.
And people tend to pass you over 'cause you're
not standing out like flashy sparkles in the water
or stars in the sky.

But green's the color of Spring.
And green can be cool and friendly-like.
And green can be big like an ocean, or important like a mountain,
or tall like a tree.

When green is all there is to be
It could make you wonder why, but why wonder why?
Wonder, I am green and it'll do fine, it's beautiful!
And I think it's what I want to be.

Brad Paisly - Waitin on a woman

Waitin' On A Woman lyrics

Sittin' on a bench at West Town Mall
He sat down in his overalls and asked me
You waitin' on a woman
I nodded yeah and said how 'bout you
He said son since nineteen fifty-two I've been
Waitin' on a woman

When I picked her up for our first date
I told her I'd be there at eight
And she came down the stairs at eight-thirty
She said I'm sorry that I took so long
Didn't like a thing that I tried on
But let me tell you son she sure looked pretty
Yeah she'll take her time but I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

He said the wedding took a year to plan
You talk about an anxious man, I was nervous
Waitin' on a woman
And then he nudged my arm like old men do
And said, I'll say this about the honeymoon, it was worth it
Waitin' on a woman

And I don't guess we've been anywhere
She hasn't made us late I swear
Sometimes she does it just 'cause she can do it
Boy it's just a fact of life
It'll be the same with your young wife
Might as well go on and get used to it
She'll take her time 'cause you don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

I've read somewhere statistics show
The man's always the first to go
And that makes sense 'cause I know she won't be ready
So when it finally comes my time
And I get to the other side
I'll find myself a bench, if they've got any
I hope she takes her time, 'cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

Honey, take your time, cause I don't mind
Waitin' on a woman

My bandmates told me last week that if we get a collection of ORIGINALs together (right now we're only doing jazz and blues covers), we can start thinking about the possibility of headlining for big acts that come to Boston. So, with that in mind, I got inspired and wrote my first bossa-nova style jazz tune. Can't write the chord changes here, obviously, but here are the words; just imagine Asrtrud Gilberto singing it and you'll get the right flavor:

MUSICALITY

Music gives me an attitude
That fills me with such gratitude
Leaving me with one clear choice:
To open my heart and rejoice—
Providing love and motivation,
The energy of exultation!

(Refrainsmiling smiley
Music will open the way
Music will save the day
Music will light up the night
Music will set all things right

Is there anybody here who'd wouldn't mind a murder by another name
Artist: Phil Ochs
Album: Live At Newport
Track: Is There Anybody Here

Is there anybody here who'd like to change his clothes into a uniform,

Is there anybody here who thinks they're only serving in a raging storm.

Is there anybody here with glory in their eyes, loyal to the end, whose duty is to die,

I want to see him, I want to wish him luck,

I wanna shake his hand, wanna call his name,

Pin a medal on the man.

Is there anybody here who'd like to wrap a flag around an early grave, Is there anybody here who thinks they're standing taller on a battle wave. Is there anybody here who'd like to do his part, A soldier to the world and a hero to his heart, I want to see him, I want to wish him luck, I wanna shake his hand, wanna call his name, Pin a medal on the man.

Is there anybody here proud of the parade,

who'd like to give a cheer and show they're not afraid.

I'd like like to ask him what he's trying to defend,

I'd like to ask him what he thinks he's gonna win.

Is there anybody here who thinks that following orders takes away the blame

Is there anybody here who'd wouldn't mind a murder by another name

Is there anybody here whose pride is on the line,

with the honor of the brave and the courage of the blind,

I want to see him, I want to wish him luck,

I wanna shake his hand, gonna call his name,

Pin a medal

great song on the radio today i havent heard in eons smiling smiley

"I'm A Stranger Here"

Well I’m a stranger here in this place called Earth
And I was sent down here to discover the worth
Of your little blue planet third from the sun
Come on and show me what you’ve done

We got the aero plane, we got the automobile
We got sky scraper buildings made of glass and steel
We’ve got synthetic food that nearly tastes real
And a little white pill that makes you feel
Hey, A whole lot better when you get out of bed
You take one in the morning for the lovelier head
We got everything everybody needs to survive
Surely the good life has arrived

I think your atmosphere is hurting my eyes
And your concrete mountains are blacking the skies
Now I don’t say that you’ve been telling me lies
But why do I hear those children’s cries

I’m a stranger here, I’m just looking around

I see the aero planes carrying the bombs
Why, you’ve even found people to drop them on
You know you can’t keep what you take by force
But it’s only my first impression of course.

Well I’m a stranger here on your planet Earth

We got the rivers and the mountains and the valleys and the trees
We got the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea
We got the –
Oh you crazy fools don’t you know you had it made
You were living in paradise
But take it from one who knows
Who knows the gates of Heaven can close
I only pray that you take my advice
Because Paradise won’t come twice.

Well I’m a stranger here in this place called Earth
And I was sent down here to discover the worth
Of your little blue planet third from the sun
I think I’ll go back home where I come from.

"Eastern Intrigue"

As the sun rises in the east
As the wind blows the fog across the sea
As the hand of Man creeps across the face of the world
Caught in a web of glamours
Persian perfume and oriental eyes
Yogi in knots and Sufi wise
Master sublime and swami high
Through in some Voodoo on the side
And a dash of the old Kung Fu
Lord you got me strung out on eastern intrigue
Chapter six and verse eleven
If you wanna get to heaven
You've got to ask the Man who owns the Property
Ya gotta dance your dance
And do your act
And get His Big Attention that's a natural born fact
I'm on my knees, one question please
Will the real God please stand up?

Jesus and Moses, Mohammed, and Sri Krishna
Steiner, Gurdjief, Blavatsky, and Bhudda
Guru Maharaji, Reverend Sun Myung Moon

On the banks of the Holy Nile
As the palm tree sways at the base of the sphinx
'Neath a crescent desert moon many thousands
younger than ours
In fact, forget about time completely
Think of it in the abstract please
Think of the swaying tropic trees
One of your many destinies
Like having a hot peyote tea
In the palace of Fu Manchu
Lord you got me strung out on eastern intrigue
Sell your wife and pawn your heater
Buy the new Bhagavad Gita
Do the pranayama 'til your spine gets sore
I'll tell you for free
'Cause God told me
We checked it with the Pope and so we all agree
I'm on my knees, one question please
Will the real God please sit down

Kwan, Besides the lyrics he is worth the listen healing album part 1 2 and 3 way cool, he has over 30 somthing albums over the decades, I was walking in Golden Gate park lightyears back and came to a clearing in the park saw all these mikes hanging from the trees, and a small group of people mabey 100, it was Todd recording Sons of 1984 a small stage with this Guy who had long green hair
they passed out the lyrics for sons of 1984 and we all sang, hey im famous 15 mins. foggy day with window payne in the park what a trip yeah!
it was fun and then he went to central park NYC and recorded the second half
of the sons of 1984 with the live crowd. I think you can download the tunes for free?
"Healer"
My child, I had a visitation in my sleep last night
Something was calling to me from a blinding light
And told me not to fear it, hear it

It said, its time to make the world a little wiser.
There are enough destroyers and criticizers.
The world needs a healer, healer.

And I awoke, my heart was pounding
cause it was not like me to have such dreams
But I could not fall asleep for wondering
Why the messenger had come to me

My child, I am too old and I am set in my ways
But now I realize just what the voice conveyed
You will be a healer, healer

Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice
Because the healer comes
The healer comes

Your destiny I lay before you
But then the choice was never yours nor mine
When its time to take this burden on you
Then I will take the one you leave behind
mailprintvotesmallerlarger

"Healing Part Ii"
Where you are going
You cannot take your body
You are on a journey,
The baggage is too heavy

You can leave your legs behind you,
You will learn to fly
You can leave your arms behind you,
You will touch the sky
You can leave your head behind you,
You are thought itself
You can leave the rest behind you,
You are breath itself

Now you are naked,
Theres no one here to judge you
See the clear light
Shining high above you
Then youre floating in the silence,
You are not alone
For the power of your being
Keeps you flowing on
Look upon yourself
Only with compassion
Strip away the shell
Hiding your perfection
Though your past was full of darkness,
Now the past is gone
And your life is starting over
When its just begun

Now you are whole,
Dont you recognize it
Towering eternal
Behind the troubled thoughts that hide it
Though at times it seems so distant,
It is always there
When you need its peace and power,
You will know its here

"Healing Part Iii"
Listen, listen
Listen to the cry
Of a world thats calling to you
Listen to the cry
Of the helpless souls that need you
Though you may have trepidation
You can not refuse
You will find your own salvation
In the path you choose

Listen, listen
Listen to the voice
That whispers in the silence
Listen as the voice
Solidifies your self reliance
Let the peace that youve discovered
Be a guiding light
Let the cry that youve uncovered
Set the world aright

You could not be closer to your maker
Never more or less alone
If you know thyself
Theres nothing else to know
You are whole

Listen, listen
Listen to the sound,
Let nothing disturb you
You are in a place
Where nothing can hurt you
If you feel a strange sensation,
It can do no harm
Like the spiral of creation,
It will soon move on

"Tiny Demons"
One of them plays a piccolo in my ear
Another one makes me smell things that arent there
And they know where to hide
And they know everything thats inside
Of my head
Tiny demons, inside me

One of them ties a lasso around my heart
Another makes me nod when I drive the car
And they wont ever leave
But they wont show their faces to me
And they wait til I feel
Like theyre gone and they jump out and steal
My relief
Tiny demons, inside me

Listen, listen
Listen for the sound
That is not in the music
Only you can hear it,
Only you can use it
Its the sound of someone breathing,
Its the breath of life
Its the sound that you are weaving
With the thread of life

Listen, listen
Listen to the sound,
Let nothing disturb you
You are in a place
Where nothing can hurt you
If you feel a strange sensation,
It can do no harm
Like the spiral of creation,
It will soon move on
