Good news from the solar energy sector. One example: recent advances in efficiency expected to bring solar power costs down to 1USD/Watt by 2012, in direct competition with coal.

1366 Technologies, a company named after the solar constant (there are 1366 watts of solar radiation hitting each square meter of the Earth on average) is working on improving multi-crystalline silicon solar panels. They claim to have found ways to make them about as efficient as single-crystal silicon solar cells, which are more efficient but also more expensive, without losing the cost benefits.

Three different innovations (described below) allowed them to make their prototype 27% more efficient than conventional multi-crystalline silicon solar cells, bringing its total efficiency to 19.5%, about the same as single-crystal silicon solar cells.

Recently a guy told me he once powered his house with steam turbine powered by a fesnel lens.

It doesn't seem hard to do.

EagleResearch.com is expert in thermal energy conversion.

Bedinis FE motor/charger works all the time, non solar or wind.

Stan Meyer's method runs a car on just water.

The Steve Mark FE coil works but gets too hot in 20 minutes, no moving parts, very cheap to make.

Perendev has a purely magnetic motor.

Methernita in Switzerland has the Tastatika which has finaly been duplicated.
