what kind of shoes do you wear?

Date: April 26, 2008 01:18AM searching for some cool cruelty free vegan non sweatshop non poisonous shoe. what kinds of shoes do you wear?
i don't have a gazillion dollars either... what i am looking for is a simple sneaker. something that looks like the vans classic. just a classical looking lace up sneaker. thanks. Re: what kind of shoes do you wear?

Date: April 26, 2008 01:41AM Leather -- everything else hurts my feet or is synthetic and toxic. I hate plastic. Sorry. If I touch or sleep on foam, it makes my body ache. I especially like mocassins.

what is microfiber flats? sounds special i wear tennies a lot but there are those times when I want to look "nice" and have some dressy shoes but they all seem to be ridiculously painful i look good in high heels and I used to be very good navigating with them but now the high heels just seem kind of annoying to me but the "comfort" shoes that I see all look horrible like they are nurse shoes or something they look way to orthopedic for me LOL  Re: what kind of shoes do you wear?

Date: April 26, 2008 12:50PM flipflops all summer long and earth shoes the rest of the time. synthetic material manufacturing and disposal is wretchedly horrible for the planet, i can't see how it's a good alternative to leather to be honest. i don't want to support the animal killing industry but for all the cows killed for meat i certainly hope that their hides are being made use of. otherwise what a collasal waste so mcdonald's can serve poison burgers to innocent children. someone told me recently that excess hides are burned to dispose of them. that to me is total insanity.

Date: April 26, 2008 05:34PM The tanning process is pretty environmentally hazardous, so I consider that a moot point. Better to do with very few pairs of shoes, I think I own like 4 pairs.
Canvas is good, too. My microfiber flats are from Mootsies Tootsies, they are very cute, like loafers, and made from a grey fabric. I can't do vegan shoes, they are usually $80/pr or more, too much for my sub-poverty level income. I am more in the $5/pr range. I don't think people should have to pay that much more.
