I would say that it would be a better idea to grow micro-greens in iodine-rich soil and eat them. It is a trace mineral, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

I add some seaweed to a smoothie occasionally. I prefer to get my nutrients from fresh raw natural vegan foods and that includes iodine.

I have been putting dulse on my salads lately and it is so good.

I would much rather eat seaweed then take a supplement.

I use iodized salt, maybe 1/8 tsp per day.

Most soil in the US has iodine in it, so produce grown in that soil will have iodine. I think there is some state in the midwest that has poor iodine in their soil.

I agree with the Seaweed, and disagree with the Iodized Salt (sorry Arugula). I've gone totally to sea vegetables for my 'greens' in Green Smoothies. I like to soak the seaweed for a half-hour, or so, to rinse away some of the salt before blending. The salt acts as a natural preservative, and a little might actually be good for us. I'm still testing it (seaweed) on my own Body. So far everything has been Positive. But I'm willing to give it up in an instant if I feel the need.....WY

Hi Joanne

In eighteen months of raw, I've never worried about whether I have enough iodine.

I'm not making light of your question- it's just that I firmly believe that, once raw, we have to worry far less about whether we're getting enough of this or that (if at all).

Here's an article I wrote on this subject.
