Date: June 23, 2008 08:12PM Most oats are not raw due to the steaming they undergo in the manufacturing processes. Occasionally I will eat raw oat groats (particularly in the winter) for breakfast. Some people have a hard time digesting them though. My website: The Coconut Chronicles Re: rolled oats?

Date: June 25, 2008 01:41PM I use raw oat groats in the winter as well... It's great to make 'oatmeal' on a cold winter day with warm water, and tea on the side.
I am in northern Canada though! (o: Sunflower Raw Food Chef and Writer Comfortably Raw [www.comfortablyraw.com] Re: rolled oats?

Date: June 26, 2008 05:12PM I was wondering about the raw oat grouts--I have then but don't really know what to do with them. Could you soak them to make them more digestable? Or what about just throwing them into a smoothie? Re: rolled oats?

Date: June 26, 2008 06:39PM planetjahne I tried soaked oat groats in a smoothie once... it made it thick and creamy. Usually though I just soak it and turn it in to oatmeal like Phantom suggested My website: The Coconut Chronicles Re: rolled oats?

Date: June 28, 2008 02:13AM I used to have Raw Oats in Green Smoothies, but worry with
rancidity. No Raw Foodist would consider Rolled Oats as a Food. It does make good Glue. LOL. I know one person who has cooked Oatmeal in smoothies. My 88 year old mother 'swears' by her oatmeal every morning, so it can't be all bad......WY Re: rolled oats?

I didn't mean Whole Raw Oats, I meant Rolled Oats make a nice Glue. Cook some and let it all sit out overnight and you'll see what I mean. It's a sticky Mess. I have quit using Whole Raw Oats, but if anyone wants to try them, a good source is RawBakery.com. Their 'Really Raw Oats' are even Sproutable, a true test for raw......WY [www.rawbakery.com] Re: rolled oats?

Date: June 29, 2008 05:02PM Ohhhh I understand what you mean WY... I remember when I was really young we used to have a nanny who would make oatmeal that was very much that consistency. I remember being fascinated by the fact that no matter how hard you shook the spoon you could never get it to come off LOL My website: The Coconut Chronicles Re: rolled oats?
