Date: June 23, 2008 06:22PM I think they're pretty, and like to think that after they were exhibited, lots of happy munching went on as everyone feasted on watermelons. Raw again since April 29, 2008. Re: please say it isn't so....

Date: June 25, 2008 02:43AM I am stunned and awestruck at this display of talent and beauty. How one could consider this being a wastage for its meager value as food is beyond me.
I'm assuming that the references to how the melons are used afterwards are ment in jest... their value as art pieces outstrip any value that they may have as food a thousand fold. Are you people aware of the food dumping that goes on in the name of market value, or the crazy legislation and farming practices which control the quality and quantity of our food production and distribution ? I assume you do... so what are a few melons used for such a noble expression as this, in the face of that. Who cares what happens to them later ? Re: please say it isn't so....

you are so right. my first reaction was selfish watermelonobsessive fret over even the scraps removed during the carving now i see it perhaps is a sacred honoring of the fruit higher than i've ever attained for sure regardless, it is really quite a talent - fruitgirl Re: please say it isn't so....
