Watermelon

For all of you who are enjoying the delights of the summer watermelon, I just wanted to share that I'm about to pick the first watermelon from my farm! This year, the first one will be an african white, icebox size with white flesh. I can't wait for my Ali Babas (a variety from Irak with an almost white skin and very dark red flesh) and the Orange ones. And all the melons are coming close too...
Cheers (lifting watermelons of course)

If you grow Organic Watermelon and don't mind a little work,
Watermelon Rind Juice makes a healthy Green Drink.....WY

A good 'flush' for the Body is Watermelon,
utilizing both the Flesh and the Rind. The plan would be
to first eat some watermelon, then Juice the Rind two or
three hours later, repeating the process throughout the day.
The 'work' comes in the Juicing, clean-up, and disposing
of the rind Pulp. I have a plastic bucket in my Kitchen
for the pulp (mostly Carrot) and empty it in my garden when
I get enough......WY
P.S. I've read here that some of our Posters have gone on the
Watermelon Flush....Bryan for one. But I don't think anyone has
used the Rind.

Actually, the orange and white flesh ones have a very soft skin, that you can easily chew on. The have what we call the "cracking gene", i.e. that when they are really ripe, they crack open on any shock, or when you try to open them with a sharp knife. But they are so fragile that you won't find them in stores. Maybe on a farmers market.
