Posted by: Anonymous User ()

Hi
I have found that cantalope doesnt spike my sugar like other melons do.
Anyone else find this who might take daily sugar readings?

Since eating melons have noticed that early mornings are the best time of day.
I used to dread mornings and want to stay in bed.
Now I am up at 5 30 working outside.

Anymore the first thing I want to eat in the mornings is Mellon. I like either Cantaloupe or Watermelon because they are so re-hydrating. I don't have any input about the sugar but I always feel good after eating Mellon.

I don't monitor my sugar levels but I think that all melons are equally sugary. Cantaloupes are usually sold under ripe at grocery stores. I rarely find any that are in the happy medium between rock hard and rotting. Cantaloupes that are under ripe have a lot of dark green color towards their rind when you slice them, and they'll be firm fleshed all the way to the center of the fruit. If you let them get softer, they'll be significantly sweeter. Sometimes I think they're even sweeter than watermelon.

Thanks for input folks.
I tested at 125 this morning after cantalope.
I tested at 160 the other day after watermelon.

I used to eat a can of tuna in the mornings.
Gone are my meat days.

Very interesting.
Ate lope and grapefruit all day and sugar is at 105 now.
I was diagnosed type 2 about a year ago.
But that was on SAD.
I remember a trip to the beach then, and it was right after I started making sprouts and turning to raw.
Glad I did.
Hope to return to that beach as a new man,40 lbs lighter, new life.

Brian

Great news Brian, and interesting about the sugar. Do you just do a finger prick to test it? I would like to do it actually - mine spikes in the am I think with pretty much any fruit, especially pineapple. Then plummets by lunch and I am craving whatever is going. I need to keep an eye on it (borderline hypoglycemic, with diabetes rampant in my family) a little better I think just so I have some idea about what is going on. You should post pics of your new, lighter self! Congrats!

veggie,
i have one of those meters that has the drum cartridge.
very convenient.Hit the button, out comes a strip, and your test is done in 5 seconds. The lance is even attached to the unit.
I will post pics later in the summer.
I am on a real good circuit program now and have joined a Y,but havent gotten up the nerve to go yet.But I know someone now who goes there and maybe that will help get mi in.I worked out alone all my life.
Hope your blood sugar stays level.smiling smiley
