Stems of leafy greens

Hi,

I was wondering about if you cut the stems of your green leafy vegetables or you eat them.

On the Earthbound farm website in the recipes section, it actually tells to remove the stems of Kale or Collard greens, but that stems of chard is edible. I wonder, if they make it a point to mention it, there should be something there to look for.

I often keep the stems, especially in smoothies and I think that collard's stems give my smoothie a really strong taste (which is not always welcome).

Thanks in advance.

The Stem is the best Part. They recommend removing it because it tends
to be Fibrous (and Tough)......WY

You can shred the stems in the food processor. Or chop them very finely.

I never throw out stems or ends or outer leaves. If it's a part of the plant that I don't want to eat, it goes in the blender with some water and the doggies eat it.

I'm not sure we should be living with Dogs.
They're natural Meat-eaters. My dogs always lived outside.
They are Friendly, aren't they? What else do you feed yours?...WY

Dogs are omnivores, not carnivores, and from what I hear, their joint, teeth, bone, and hair health is much beter when they eat a herbivorous diet. Maybe if people would stop breeding, it would be feasible to not "living with dogs."

Maybe in captivity, since they would be
eating 'inferior' Meat. In the 'Wild' they're Carnivores.
Their Tooth and Bowel structure proves it....WY

Dogs can be healthy vegans. The UK's oldest dog was a vegan border collie.

Cat's can't.

My dogs are vegan most days with few exceptions. They get a variety of cooked starches, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds, usually ground flax and sunflower, and sometimes fruit. I have to puree the fruit and vegs in the blender. I cook their beans, starches, and veggies but use raw fats.

I alternate them between rice, oats, potatoes, pasta, and corn meal. They get a multi with 100 mcg b12 about once a week. For special occasions they get modest quantities of egg or dairy or when their grandpa or uncle comes and gives them unspeakable treats, which is not very often.

I also have taurine and carnitine as supps for them but I rarely use them.

the stems are supposed to be the most nutritious part. especially on brocoli and dandilion and even celery.
That is what I just learned.
