Ripe fruit paradox

I really don't understand why everybody says "buy some ripe fruits ALWAYS..."

But if the fruit is ripe at the store, it only means that it matured faster than the others in the batch that are not ripe yet. But there is no way that it matured on the tree!!!!

So i really don't get it...!!???!!!

The fruit is not put out all at once. The fruit that is
'out' ripens faster than the fruit in the 'back', which
is kept at a cooler temperature. As the fruit sells, more
is brought out from the back. So it just appears to ripen
differently.....WY

I'm not sure if everyone is saying buy ripe fruit... I think most are saying to make sure the fruit is ripe before you eat it. I've never had a week where I didn't have to ripen some of my fruit on my kitchen counter.

I never buy Fruit unless it's ripe in the store, because I
like to eat it immediately. I have a Friend who has 'tons'
of fruit sitting out in various stages of ripeness....not me.....WY

I like the taste of ripe fruit better then un-ripe fruit but if it gets too ripe then I wind up throwing it away so I go to the store frequently and buy it in small lots and I find it much easier if I buy fruit that is ripe and ready to eat when possible.

Mangos are one thing I always have to buy semi-ripe. I find that, if I buy a huge bag of rock-solid mangos (that just came out of the back of the store or whatever), it's taking a huge gamble to see whether or not they will actually ripen, or eventually just stay hard and rot.

The ones that yield slightly to a gentle squeeze will finish ripening properly within a few days.

Just my experience... eating a lot of mangos every day!! =D

I just left a pineaple in my kitcehn pantry for few days and now it smells and looks delicious. I can't wait to eat it tonight. So tree ripened may not be available (unless you are lucky to live in a huge farm with all kinds if fruit trees). As long as teh fruit is ripe and I usually tell it by its smell, it should be ready.

Take care
A Iyer
