Date: September 30, 2008 03:56AM ok, so a very nice man where i work brought in a large box of his very own
apples from his tree. i, who only has 20 dollars left in her bank account, has no food left, was eternally gratefull for this "free raw feast" so i ate one, cut into another, took a bite out of that second apple, was interupted by a co-worker with yet another of a thousandth stressful emergency... i went back to that apple and cut it in half, and some very active and hyper live worms crawled out!!! OMG!!! i am afraid that since i ate some of the apple that had worms in it, i might have digested worm larvae, and now i might get intestenal worms! well...i have been eating/swallowing raw garlic all night because i read somewhere that raw garlic kill intestinal worms.... any opinions or feeback from anyone on this would be greatly appreciated. Date: September 30, 2008 07:02AM Worms in fruits and intestinal worms are not the same. Fruit worms can't live in our digestive system.
You shouldn't be so worried about a few worms in a fruit, that's the way nature make them. You should be more worried about a perfect shinny worm less apple, meaning an apple that has been sprayed with a poison 15 times during the year, and waxed with a petroleum based wax. On the other end, thank your coworker for not using pesticides on his tree. It's not only a gift to the people he gives his apple too, it's also a gift to everyone. Date: September 30, 2008 07:29AM I wouldn't be worried about it.
Don't let your imagination run wild and get the best of you. Remember this is about health thinking those things is not very healthy. Re: my newest worry/drama...worms in my apple

Date: September 30, 2008 07:42AM Was the so-called worm actually a caterpillar? I wouldn't worry too much about eating them although its kinda gross. As far as intestinal worms go, make sure to wash the apples. They are a different kind of creatures, and won't burrow into the apple. Wikipedia has all kinds of info on parasitic worms which I find interesting.
Just make sure to cut your apple in small slices so that if there is one in the apple, you won't eat it. Re: my newest worry/drama...worms in my apple

Date: September 30, 2008 11:29AM Right! No worries mate. If you eat fresh fruit or nuts, then you are GOING to run the risk of eating an insect...even if you are very careful....and pick through the fruit....cut it up...and wash it. I would worry less about getting parasites from fresh fruit.....and worry much more about getting such things from meat. Just my take.

Date: September 30, 2008 02:29PM Just check your apples and cut them up before eating. You are so fortunate to get some organic apples. There should be a hole in the apple somewhere and the worm is usually in the core of the apple just cut the core out and trace any worm trails in the apple to cut that aout and you should be good to go. Earlier this summer, when I was foraging wild berries, I found some little green crawlers in my fruit. I'm sure I ate plenty of them... but the eye-visible, fruit-burrowing types of critters are not the same as the tiny ones that infest your gut and give you troubles. There are always plenty of natural parasite remedies... ...but the best thing I've heard here was to keep the body clean, so the bugs have nothing to eat. Some even go dormant in an alkaline environment. I sympathize completely, but you should be okay. =) Re: my newest worry/drama...worms in my apple
