so, what exactly are 'greens'?

hey everyone,

this may seem a really dumb question to you, but English is not my mother tongue (I'm Dutch/French) and all the books on raw food I'm reading are in English.

to me, all 'vegetables' are vegetables, but the raw foods book I'm reading refer to certain types of vegetables as 'greens'. so what i considered a 'green'? I think kale and spinach are considered 'greens'.....what more?

thank you for helping me out on this one!

greens?
those just happen to be my FAVORITE things! kale, parsley, dandelions, romaine ( heck, maybe even broccoli, they are green too, why not?) anything with the chlorophyll pigmentation . they capture a great deal of the percentage of light waves ( thus energy) which is probably why they are emphasized so much

i hope you enjoy them!

Leaves. Not necessarily green ones, either.

Solid green vegetables are second best. They aren't as nutritious or protective.
