the Ideal Diet

What do you think is the ideal diet to eat ?
I have seen DZM post about setting small goals aimed at achieving a diet that is in your best health interests. This has gotten me to thinking about what would be my idea of the best diet for me to eat. For me this is an all raw, fresh food diet. A diet composed of about 55% whole fruit, 40% veggies (whole, juiced, and blended), and 5% seeds derived from the fruit eaten.
What would your ideal diet look like ?

Heya! Obvious my own ideal diet would be one of fresh fruit or fruit juices.

I'd add some nuts, beans, spices, and B12/D2 supps.

Also ideally I would be able to produce most of what I ate.

In Fit For Life (chapter 7) it says "The five essentials of life that must come from the foods you eat are glucose for fuel (from carbohydrates), amino acids, minerals, fatty acids, and vitamins. The number one, most important priority of any food is it's fuel value. Without fuel the body cannot exist. Fuel value should always be the foremost factor in determining the worth of any food. The ideal percentage of each of the five essentials in food as required by the human body is as follows:

glucose - 90%
amino acids - 4-5%
minerals - 3-4%
fatty acids 1+%
vitamins - under 1%

The above represents what the ideal composition of food in terms of the body's needs, would be. There is only one food on the planet that fills that bill perfectly. It's fruit!"

Personally I haven't gotten to the point where I am comfortable eating just fruit -- I feel like I am still hungry, like I am missing something. MY ideal diet at this point is fruit or a big smoothie consisting of flax seeds, kale and fruit in season for breakfast, a big salad, slaw or raw veggie creation, and a soup made with miso, avocado, sprouts, spirulina, mushrooms, spices, garlic and veggies in season. I have an active, stressful job and a busy home life, and I feel satisfied and do not miss cooked food when I eat this way. I also occasionally pop a few brazil nuts or eat a frozen banana with raw chocolate (cacao, agave and coconut oil) depending on what time of the month it is.

Oh yeah, I forgot -- a little seaweed, everything organic and as much bought locally as possible.

For me the ideal diet would be juicy fruits grown by Mother Nature in a tropical location.

I believe the ideal diet is the one that is working for you right now. My own diet fluctuates often as my body finds it's balance. Last week it was all about sprouts, greens, spirulina, seaweed. This week it's all about fruit & green juices. I have no idea what my ideal diet will be next week. Just listening to the body. ;-)

Another possibility for the ideal diet would be eating lots of fresh raw whole fruits and drinking fresh made green juices. It sounds good in theory but I am wondering if its doable ? Has anyone tried a whole fruits and green juices diet ?

Yes, and it doesn't work for me. I drink 2 to 3
ounces of Wheatgrass Juice every morning (damn near anyway).
If I eat a lot of Fruit during the day, it makes me not want
the green juice next morning. I'm putting my Faith in Wheat-
grass Juice. I do best on High Greens with minimal fruit.....WY

WY I think the purest, most untampered with water is within fruit and veg. itself.

I find that if I eat ONLY fruit and veg in it's natural state and nothing dehydrating such as nuts or seeds I need very little water and don't feel thirsty at all. Also I can tell thaT i AM EXRTEMELY well hydrated.

I agree!! I've decided to have Celery Juice
this afternoon instead of a second Green Smoothie.
By the way, I was reminded of Norman Walker this morning.
As I was cutting a Carrot, it 'bled'. That's what he noticed,
and his famous Norwalk Press Juicer was the outcome......WY

I have a theory that the ultimate diet is probably a mental posture or state of peace, and that the dietary intake progresses into more and more dense substances dependent on where the indervidual is relative to this.

My own awareness of what my body needs has definately continued to evolve and simplify even after becoming raw.

Hey RB.. can you get energy from water now, or do you just feel that it would be best ?
