STARTING OFF
Posted by: Jake6 ()
Date: November 19, 2008 09:26PM

Started the raw food thing today. I had ordered some books, a water distiller, and some other items, that have not come in yet, but decided to venture ahead and get started. I went to the grocery store and bought apples, bananas, oranges, grapefruit, grapes, some romain lettuce and a few tomatoes. Figured I would sprinkle some spectrum apple cider vinegar on it for a night meal. I ordered some seeds to sprout. I have wheat berries, are they ok to eat if you let them sprout?
I can tell today I am starting to get a headache, figure there will many days of not feeling so great starting off. That is why I went ahead and got started so I could get them behind me. Looking forward to that lighter, more spiritual feeling, clearer mind. Finding organic here is a real problem and can;t afford ordering everything in organic. Just buying the best I can with what is avalible.Have been reading the post here and I am sure I will be posting in the future and reading other post in the future. Hope this is a rewarding journey

Welcome to raw! If you use a good natural cleaning method, you should be okay doing conventional. Gotta do the best with what you have as it sounds like you're doing.

Next time get the Bragg's apple cider vinegar as the spectrum isn't raw.

Most use a combination of white vinegar & baking soda with water. Some also add lemon. There are pre-made ones at the health stores. It's best to soak produce in the solution for a bit, if you can, and to also have a veggie scrub brush.

THE TRUTH ABOUT VINEGAR
by Kenneth S. Jaffrey, Naturopath
from his book “Natural Foods”
Published by Kenneth S. Jaffrey, 9 Mandalay Avenue, Nelly Bay, Qld. 4819 Australia, 1985

Vinegar is a poison and even when dignified by the addition of the words “Apple cider” it is still a poison. Vinegar is diluted acetic acid. It is obtained by conversion of alcohol into an acid by the bacterium Mycoderma Aceti. Vinegar may be made from any saccharine solution and therefore any fruit may be used as a base. There are many types of vinegar. The commonest in this country is Malt or Beer Vinegar. Every country has its standard or traditional vinegar. Malt vinegar is best known on Great Britain and Australia and surrounding countries. Apple cider vinegar is the standard vinegar in the United States of America. Some other types of vinegar are: Raspberry, Guava, Pineapple, Raisin, Date, Brandy and Spirit Vinegar. Each vinegar has a slightly distinctive flavour derived from tiny traces of unfermented fruit which remain mixed with the acetic acid. In recent years vinegar has achieved new popularity due to the publication of several books by American doctors and others. As the writers are Americans they naturally recommend the traditional Apple cider vinegar.

The Vinegar Cure can be traced back to many years before the American doctor who re-started the Vinegar craze was born. It is widely used as a home remedy for both internal and external use for at least tow hundred years. It fell into disuse and then was resurrected about 1820 by Mr. Frank Coutts, a Scottish vinegar manufacturer, who wrote a book called The Acetic Acid Cure or the Spinal system of Treatment. Mr. Coutts believed that vinegar would cure all ailments that mankind was heir to. Vinegar was administered internally, massaged vigorously into the spine and washed gently over the skin. But...the vinegar HAD to be a special type sold by Mr. Coutts which had happened to be Malt Vinegar.

About one hundred years later, in 1958, Dr. Jarvis wrote in his book Folk Medicine in which he recommended (among other things) the Vinegar Cure. This time the vinegar HAD to be Apple Cider Vinegar. Malt or Wine Vinegar would not do. As an added attraction he combined the Vinegar Cure with Honey. The vinegar craze grew and spread all over the world.

Vinegar, no matter what its origin may be, is still acetic acid and is most unsuitable for human consumption. The highly corrosive and irritating acid hardens the liver, unduly stimulates and irritates the digestive glands, interferes with the formation of red blood corpuscles and, through its constant irritating effect upon the mucus membranes, of the intestinal canal, is one of the chief causes of ulceration, catarrh, and indirectly, cancer. IT is also a prime cause of stomach ulceration.

Vinegar is useless as a cure for disease. It is harmful and should be rigidly excluded from the diet. It acts like a counter-irritant but does not have any beneficial effect. Like every other drug, it does have the effect of altering the course of a disease by suppression, but does not cure. Vinegar has caused many illnesses and even death. Post-mortem examination reveals that vinegar produces scalded mouth and a greyish-white condition of the stomach mucosa. Two deaths have recently been reported in Australia.

If you still persist in consuming vinegar, either as a food or a remedy, remember -- you have been warned.

I cannot trust the work of anyone who does insufficient research to know that in the States, raw cider vinegar is by far one of the most obscure varieties. It's "health food hoodoo", someone once told me. Nice. My local chain grocery only started selling it last year--in the health foods section. If anything; judging from my collection of old timey cookbooks and health guides, a vinegar conspiracy has been pushing distilled white vinegar these last 80 or so years. What else may be wrong with Mr. Jaffrey's thesis? . . . raw cider vinegar leaves an alkaline ash in metabolization, and is therefore, presumed to be beneficial. White vinegar, on the other hand, leaves an acidic one, and is therefore, excellent for cleaning the toilet.

I am puzzled all the time about the replies I read here demanding support for things I consider common knowledge. For pity's sake, fresh, I'm not your chemistry prof--Google it! : )

And the meat[if you will] of my retort to Mr. Jaffrey's work, is the falseness of his premise that there has been some sort of vinegar cabal pushing raw cider vinegar in the U.S., lo these many years. I am exaggerating slightly, but no one outside of hippie communes and German Mennonite settlements had ever heard of raw cider vinegar until, I'd say, the 1990's. His premise is a fallacy, therefore.

i investigate my own statements and others fully, unlike many people.

only when i am unable to find any information about someones claim do i ask for backup.

so your accusation is invalid.

fresh,

I do not "accuse," unless there is a felony in progress. I also select my diction carefully. You cannot possibly have looked for this stuff on the web and encountered nothing. For I just did and found loads. And if you wish me to spoon feed you, you are fresh out of luck, by jiminy.

i did look but was unable to find, so you have again accused me of a felony ("you cannot possibly have looked"winking smiley.

i have now found references that confirm your statement by searching differently.

of course, it's not meaningful in the sense that we should eat foods that are alkalizing, for that would mean that the below are good to eat..

alkalizing other foods

Bee Pollen
Lecithin Granules
Molasses, blackstrap
Soured Dairy Products

you know it's common knowledge that hiv causes aids !
do you want references?

Thanks for looking again. I knew you would find something because I did not hallucinate the data I discovered! I hope you get that I was joking about making accusations--this seems a dire word to use for our purposes, fresh. I am also not singling you out our attempting to demean you by whining about how exasperated it makes me that things I consider "common knowledge" prove to be not as well disseminated as I thought or hoped. I am sure you know lots of things that I don't know, and that this is true of everyone on these boards with regard to both you and me. And there is some debate, though in the uncommon realm, that HIV directly leads to AIDS. The data on the correlation are surprisingly varied. I learn something new every day. Sometimes two things, if I'm lucky smiling smiley

Dear Fresh and Tamukha,

I am new to this blog, but I've been on this site many times, and have collected tons of super recipes from here. I am too a vegan, mostly (80%) raw foods.
I read with some interest the banter between the two of you, especially "fresh's" link at the bottom on Duesberg.
Thought you both might be interested in reading my viewpoint.

I just visited your MySpace page and, wow. I am so glad you found your way out of the labyrinth of lies your appointed "healers" put you in. I can only hope they were driven by medical dogma and not blank malice. I am curious: are you Canadian? I have Canadian friends and they seem to have serious problems with overzealous doctors who behave in a passive/aggressive manner, i.e. taking requests for second opinions personally; witholding/redacting patient data;refusing to give a specific diagnosis. It's horrifying for me to hear about, because I believe your doctor should have the greatest possible knowledge and be your ally in healing. If I see a primary care doctor or a specialist I think is unprofessional or unconcerned or ignorant, I take my business elsewhere. What a wee naïf I guess I am!

Glad you checked out my page. I hope, if you are unfamiliar with this "scandal of the century", then you also went to some of the links provided, or watched the videos.

No, I'm not Canadian, we live in Florida.

Just for a little background information, I worked in organized medicine for years, thus believed what the doctors portrayed to me, that they were God. Not only did they tell us we didn't need a second opinion, but that the tests were absolutely correct. They had even done a "back up" test. HA! What a joke that is, knowing now what I wish I knew then! From someone who's "been there", it's very difficult to get out of the "brainwashed medical paradigm".

Since all this has transpired, we have COMPLETELY left orthodox medicine. There were many things that followed this experience that led us to this decision. Too lengthy to go into here.
My M.D. is also a Naturopath, and has been well aware of the HIV fraud for years. I also take my family to see a Dr of Chinese Medicine, with great success. We see these health and healing providers only when needed, which isn't very often.
They only time we will EVER use traditional medicine again is for a true emergency. They will have to drag my broken apart, bleeding, dead, dying body to the E.R. That is the only thing they do well.

Based on a new book that came out this year entitled "Fear of the Invisible" by Janine Roberts, Robert Gallo and Mikalus Popovic's works on the original HIV research are all being called in to question. She shows copies in the book of all the typed/handwritten documents by the two above mentioned that prove the entire THEORY was built on fraud and lies. These are the original four papers submitted and published in the journal "Science", upon which all HIV/AIDS research is built on.

One can easily find these on the Internet now, as they have been made public.

I am providing links below from the group "Rethinking AIDS" and the letter they have submitted to "Science" asking them for a complete withdrawl of the papers.
It's incredibly intersting and something EVERYONE should be aware of, as your tax dollars are being spent under a false premise. And, the number of retail chains that are supporting (financially) the "RED" campaign is frightening.

[bentriders-blog.blogspot.com]

[rethinkingaids.com] (actual letter)

By the way, were you aware that there are appx. 60 different factors that will set off a postive test result??

Hope some of this is enlightening to some of you. I HATE to see others fall in to the same trap I did.

Many Blessings!
