Date: December 03, 2008 01:46AM I learned something at Ann Wigmore. Plantains are super sweet like bananas. BUT you have to wait until they are COMPLETELY black and rotten looking.. What a cool concept. I bought a black one yesterday. Very Very good, like a meaty banana!!! Re: Plantains secret for you guys

Date: December 03, 2008 06:30AM When they are nice and ripe and orange inside they taste so good it is just cutting the ends off and skin once you get that done it is all so good.
They almost give them away at the fruit markets when they are at there best. Cherimoya, Peace Love and Happiness, Re: Plantains secret for you guys

Date: December 03, 2008 04:33PM Thanks Suvine! I've always wondered if there's some secret to eating plantains; it just didn't make sense that they were naturally hard and inedible. Re: Plantains secret for you guys

Date: December 04, 2008 01:26AM are they prone to many pesticides and gmo-ing if they aren't organic do you know? It's so hard to get any kind of banana-related plant organic..that isn't a banana around here
but i so want to try the little red ones, and baby ones and that plantain talk sounds sooo good Re: Plantains secret for you guys

Very Very good, like a meaty banana!!!" Do you mean it was not starchy? At all? I loved steamed plantain and it would be nice to be able to include it in a fruitarian diet. Provided of course it is actually edible. I wondered why a banana family member cook only be eaten cooked......perhaps now i know...we just didn't let it ripen sufficiently. Thanks for the good news. Date: December 17, 2008 08:59PM ok, i tried it, and it was kind of like...coffee chocolate hintage in there.. it was really wierd; the texture was a little too weird for me. I don't know, I didn't quite enjoy it that much by itself, put it seems like it would make for a really good mixture in something...blended with something Re: Plantains secret for you guys
